Star Wars is one of, if not THE biggest franchise in the world. And yet, it has only a pitiful amount of games to its name. The majority of which are utter shit, while the good ones don't actually have anything to do with the main story of the films.
It seems like the Star Wars universe works best in games when it isn't about the same exact things we've seen in the films. KotOR I & II and Jedi Academy being great examples of these.
So why isn't Disney putting out more Star Wars games, and why not make them RPG's in which you can explore the universe without being tied to their garbage films with unlikeable characters?
Jordan Phillips
If you want us to list good SW games you could just ask
Lucas Foster
Cant tell if bait or just stupid.
Thomas Foster
>Jedi Academy literally the worst game in the Dark Forces series, you clearly haven't played any of the others
Andrew Russell
Blame EA. They have no incentive to make good games anymore without a sort of microtransaction, from subscriptions in TOR or their shitty lootboxes and ingame money in literally everything they think they can shove them.
If it weren't for the mmo we could have KotOR 3.
Jace Moore
>So why isn't Disney putting out more Star Wars games
Because Disney doesn't care about the gaming market because they think big budget games aren't all that profitable, and the failure of LucasArts probably only played into that belief. So they just signed off the license to the biggest publisher around and gave them relatively free reign, only for EA to completely squander the brand with DLC and microtransaction rackets.
I don't expect Disney to renew the deal with EA whenever it expires, every time EA releases a game there's a huge controversy and that's gotta be a headache for Disney. I'm pretty sure microtransactions were taken out of Nu-BF2 at Disney's order because they knew it was damaging the brand.
Mason James
>Star Wars >only a pitiful amount of games
Hudson Barnes
Battlefront 3 when
Ryan Russell
>Disney doesn't care about the gaming market because they think big budget games aren't all that profitable They're absolutely correct, modern AAA games struggle to make their huge budgets back
Oliver Bailey
Name a good Star Wars game made in the last decade.
Joseph Collins
>pretty sure microtransactions were taken out of Nu-BF2 at Disney's order a smart move considering battlefront 2 flopped hard right before last jedi hit theaters
Gabriel White
So why the fuck don't they look back to the games people liked and copy those? That's what they're doing with the movies after all, so they're not strangers to that concept.
All they need to make is KotOR III, written by a team who aren't a soy-filled clusterfuck of diversity more interested in agendas than fun and excitement.
It genuinely feels like the Star Wars universe has gotten incredibly small after Disney acquired it. I guess stories that don't directly involve a major character can't be made any more.
Jonathan Rogers
>a pitiful amount of games to its name not >a pitiful amount of good games to its name
Juan Roberts
because EA's business model isn't about making intricate well loved video games, it's about making platforms for microtransactions and "games-as-a-service" that are dumbed down for any idiot to pick up and play
>It genuinely feels like the Star Wars universe has gotten incredibly small after Disney acquired it.
After autists nitpicked and cried over every bold creative choice in TLJ, expect it to get even smaller and safer.
Jeremiah Butler
Why do you need a game set in the star wars universe? Have you considered that having to make a game with someone else's universe is actually limiting compared to making your own
Ethan Jackson
disney is going to kill the series off for a good decade after episode 9 in order to let the hype build back up for another trilogy
Christopher Howard
I know it doesn't really count but I had a blast playing Star Wars pen and paper adventures that my dm buddy had cobbled together. It's basically swords and magic power fantasy with a little scifi paint job, but it felt really natural.
Andrew Baker
Yeah good luck with that.
Nicholas Roberts
They're already planning a spinoff trilogy entirely disconnected from the mainline films. Rian Johnson is going to write and direct the first one.
Justin Flores
Cannot wait until they will inevitably decide to remake and modernize the classic trilogy. The internet drama and tears are going to be glorious
Ethan White
i think by the late 2020's free discussion on the internet will have been completely silenced or outlawed
Cameron Edwards
But still very good
Jaxson Reyes
>All they need to make is KotOR III, written by a team who aren't a soy-filled clusterfuck of diversity more interested in agendas than fun and excitement Yeah, like that'll ever happen.
Matthew Nguyen
Hell no, people aren't burned out enough for that.
Samuel Hall
>while the good ones don't actually have anything to do with the main story of the films. ROGUE LEADER: ROGUE SQUADRON 2
Gabriel Gomez
They won't rest until Luke is recast as a fat black lesbian with a giant afro.
Kevin Brown
>Star Wars has no good games
Hi. You're full of shit
Carter Harris
Name a good Star Wars anything that was done in the last decade.
Ryan Smith
>quoting something no one wrote And you are an illiterate fuckup.
