nah, I kill pretty much everything extremely easy with no potions oils or bombs on hard.
but nine times out of ten the shitty animations will get you hit, or you will struggle even just to walk toward the enemy. the camera is also shit and the lock on is a joke.

i can only assume that if you think the game is bad for the combat then you hate just about every RPG, because TW3's combat beats any WRPG ever released (including CRPGs) several times over, hell there are only a couple of JRPGs that do the combat better than TW3
i can only assume the recent wave of TW3 asshurt is just from contrarians, the same people who unironically think FONV is the best fallout game or DD is better than dark souls

But to answer your original question braindead combat and witcher senses give everyone a quick 'well done you're a great player' feeling and everyone fucking loves that for some reason. I recommend Pillars of Eternity, I got it in a sale and I'm glad I gave my money to that instead of Witcher 3 (which I pirated).
