Do what Fable did and not allow you to resume free roam if you didnt watch them to completion.

DMC3 style is best where you can keep playing as the credits are rolling.
Or put some cinematic running in the background instead of a black screen.

Put the credits before the game, so you have to watch them whenever you start a new game

How about not putting 1000 irrelevant managers on that list and only listing people who actually did something.

Simple
Have an escape sequence that takes place while the credits are running, and design it so that it's actual gameplay you can't just leave idle while you go away, or you die and have to fight the final boss again

Or just have it as a BITCH THIS AINT A CUTSCENE section ala the krauser fight in RE4, you have to be actively engaged and watching the credit for the prompts or you die and restart the whole thing

I like watching the credits for games that I pirated, while laughing at everyone as they scroll by.

Marvel figured a way to do it. Make it so they want to stay.

Generate a randomized code seed based on your name, remaining inventory and clear time. Hide it in the credits. You have to enter this code to access New Game + or post-game content.
