Holy shit what a good fucking game

Holy shit what a good fucking game
I just played this for like 2 hours, hitting myself for not playing it before

Why is there no bundle for the DS/3DS like there was with the mega man zero series? is emulator or GBA the only way to play this shit what the fuck

It's not really a big deal
I'm playing on emulator right now

I've heard Wily getting redeemed in 6's ending was just made up by the localization. Is that true?

If you think that one's good, wait until you play 2 and 3

You're talking about the first one? Do play the sequels, then. They are eve better.

I wonder how many posts until a hijack happens?

It isn't. It's a popular urban myth, but it's not true.

if fucking BN1 blew you away despite its flaws youll love 2-3, then get pissed as fuck at 4

Shanghai.exe fred?

I'm glad someone else appreciates the first one.
Sick of people discrediting the it just because the later games have better mechanics and some polish. The pacing and design were really on point, and 1 has some of the best bosses in the series.

BN1 is honestly pretty bad compared to other games in the series. BN2 and BN3 are godlike.

Enjoy the feeling while it lasts.
Once you get to the powerplant level you'll wish you were dead.

>first game
The fun will end soon
There's already one

>powerplant
NEVER SAY THAT NAME AGAIN YOU FAGGOT I WILL FIND YOU AND I WILL STUFF YOU IN A DUMPSTER

BN1 isnt necessarily bad, it just has some glaring flaws that make it hard to go back to once you play 2 and onwards, story and pacing wise its right there with 2

Yeah this is the first one I've played
I decided to plat it first because I heard 2 was way better so I wanted to be able to appreciate this one without looking at 2 and thinking "wow this shit sucks compared to that"

It's my favorite level, personally.
Unless you're a huge bitchbaby it's a great challenge. They switched to persistent HP in the later games for a reason.

good way to go about it though you might burn yourself out that way as 2/3's post game can be fairly lengthy, just don't touch 4 unless you hate yourself

Smart move. I personally still like the first one, but they really brought their A game for the sequels.

Alright then, enjoy it
BN1's only real problems is that it doesn't have the same customisation and QoL as newer games as well of some of the dungeons being very frustrating
Still a fun game unlike 4

powerplant

I hope you'll get to the end. There's an important plot point there that is referenced in the sequels, but that it's only enjoyable if you saw it on the first one first.

I AM ON MY WAY NOW FUCKER

That's what I'm saying, man. Level design, enemy encounters, boss fights and progression matter way more than some fans act like they do. The general web maps are shit, but the rest of the game is fucking solid in a way none other than 2 are. 3's kind of a clusterfuck in these areas despite the superior combat.

The invisible pathways were obnoxious as fuck, the battery puzzles were just tedious trial-and-error, and it went on far longer than it needed to. The lack of HP regen was the least of its problems.

hadesplant

>turn-based is dead
Fuck everyone who says this

>Finished replaying MMBN2 today
>Moved on to MMBN 3 replay
Any hot tips? I can't remember fuck all about these games.

>powerplant
honestly not as bad as people make it out to be

>BN
>turn-based
Who says that anyway

Powerplant wasn't that bad, even if you ran out of power the game provides a mini game to keep you from game overing.

don't get rid of your aqua or fire chips because you'll need for a couple parts later in the game

my biggest gripe with 3's progression was that stupid navicust programs you needed in some areas werent just key items, would have felt a lot smoother if i didnt have to either change my entire cust for an area or swap in/out for it

Geddon2+snake is stupidly powerful for how early you get it, same for slasher if you can abuse it like on say beastman.

Just curious, what did they fuck up in 4?
I wouldn't really consider BN turn based
It's pretty action-y

Absolutely everything possible
Even though the battle system is the same you only get 2 good chips ans the viruses are fucking bullshit

Favorite Style?
Favorite Soul?
Favorite Cross?

You're in for a treat with the sequels then, since they're all a million times better.

>Just curious, what did they fuck up in 4?

Better question is what didnt they fuck up in 4. In short it was a very very botched cash grab that only sodl well because of how well BN3 ended off, id say go read the LP of it and save yourself some pain

Battlenetwork 4 is a phoned in buggy piece of shit.
But besides that it's tournament arc after tournament arc and you need to beat the game 3 times in a row to get to the post game.
Just about every scenario has an annoying mechanic or is boring shit. One of which might as well be unwinnable if you don't happen to have the chips the game expects you to burn.

TenguCross

>star force

Stop fucking reminding me that the DS remake of MMBN1 was fucking shit on top of being untranslated

A really long read, but slightly humorous. Points out a fuckton of common complaints with 4.

Aqua bug.

bug, custom close second

For the love of fuck start saving up BugFrags now. You need like 500 of them.

Aquacust style or hub if it's allowed
Colonel Soul
Tengu Cross

>guts

Shh, user
He probably thinks that Guts styles increases the damage of charge shots, the poor thing.

Please don't
Someone told /jp/ and now they've sent their autism brigade

Play Starforce 3.

I've noticed. The shanghai thread isn't doing so hot right now. But that doesn't affect us.

>Linking the games before you fight all 6 version-specific Navis in your game will break the game entirely. It fucks up the game's pre-scripted order for matching you up with the game's version-specific Navis, and will cause the game to not only crash, but to become a useless piece of plastic. A friend of mine did this before the 1st Tournament in the game (so about where this LP is right now), and once the game crashed, he couldn't load the game at all. It would freeze at the title screen, so not even starting a new game would fix the problem.

Holy fucking shit. How did Capcom get away with this?

The translation of BN4 is absolutely filled with typos, most notably is how the word virus is almost always used in the plural, so you see "viruses busting" a ton. Also there are many instances where the portraits of whose talking. Doesn't help that the characters aren't really written well. Take Shuka, AquaMan's operator for example. The very first time you see her she goes into a depressive episode over a vending machine She's still really cute though, where's my MMBN dating simulator capcom

What a nice young man she was!

It isn't /jp/ shitting up that thread. The last Shanghai.EXE thread I saw there was a good one.
We need to stop blaming other boards for Sup Forums's own shitposters.

>We will never get a 4th one.

BN isn't turn based. It's more comparable to how sports games have breaks where players prepare for the next phase.

...

I guess we better brace ourselves.

Heads up, some asshole in the other thread linked to here to ruin this one too.
Reminder to report and ignore. Don't respond to people who do respond either. Half the time they're samefags trying to create an illusion of "conversation."

Don't do that
>giving them attention

BN1 barely has folder restrictions though and you start with 10 chips off the bat.

Spamming lifeswrd combo has never been easier. Plus I think you get all the chips for the PA in the first few areas if you grind a bit.

Aqua Cust
Never liked any soul
Heat cross.

>can make your entire folder into lifesword

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Shanghai posters, it's the in-fighting that's troublesome.

Yeah they made childhood pretty fucking awesome. Long trips in the car and running 3 hour long errands with the parents. battle network kept me sane. Except in every single game there is that ONE FUCKING PART where you get stuck as shit. I mean absolutely no idea and the next hint doesn't give you a specific location or thing to look for. You end up running to the end of the godamn oven before it is something as simple as talking to the random NPC stranger in Room 2 of the school.

They are pretty awesome and just get better and better until star force imo.

it was useful for Alpha, and it's all i needed it for

hey

I was thinking.
Could Gregar be considered the BN equivalent of Rush?
I mean, it IS a dog who fuses with Megaman to power him up. It even contrasts with Bass having Gospel.

Rush is actually in BN though, but he's only useful in PvP

2 and 3 are even better mate

The BN equivalent of Rush is Rush.
It's a shame he's hidden in most of the games and not important.

honestly I found the water facility to be more annoying with all the sliding

OP, you should also play 2, 3, and 6. Those are the best in the series imo.

>not important
Dogs are very important
So are birds

>localizers so retarded they renamed Rush to Mole

are there more of these?

is bn series good for my GBA collection?

Pretty sure the navi cust program was still called Rush
2, 3 and 6 should be considered essential

Just because they fixed their mistake doesn't mean they didn't make it in the first place in the first two games

>blue gets this god-tier chip
>white stuck with navi recycle
The latter takes way too much setup to justify letting it take up your giga chip slot.

Definitely, it's a shitshow to try and play it on shitty controllers with emulators. Half the time the fuckers forget to save your game properly and you lose hours of progress.

>that ONE FUCKING PART
Yes.
pixiv.net/member_illust.php?id=1324074&tag=ロックマンエグゼ

Apparantly the Rush design in Battlenetwork was supposed to be used for Megaman Legends. A bit of a shame that was never realized, but at least the design didn't go to waste.

I've never had an issue with a game not saving on emu
I mostly use RetroArch, Project 64, and DeSmuMe
Also the Xbone controller has an almost identical dpad to the GBA SP, so it's p good

did someone mention awful parts?

Vba always fucks something up for me

This was alright.
This was complete horseshit.

i'll make sure to find it on ebay for cheap or the jp version if it's cheaper

VBA hasn't been updated since 2004
Why the fuck are you using it

Hey what's going on in this thread

It's entirely possible that he's using VBA-m, which does see updates. I know I always, always forget to mention that I'm using that fork.

>The unlocalized hint to find something based on a Japanese cultural thing is alright
>A scrambled number anyone can figure out is horseshit

Because it does what it's supposed to flawlessly?

>he doesn't know about oragami magic
Your fault for being uncultured.

Well obviously not if it doesn't save your progress

It's been a while but all I can figure out is
>1 1 9 2 (tonight) 1 1

...

1 1 9 2 2 9 1 1
The problem with it is "night" representing 9.
