when is ps5 cumming out and any rumors about it?
will it be backwards compatible?
ps5 is already out, it's called ps4 pro
Sony is going to lay back and fail with the ps5. With all the things that Microsoft is doing if sony doesn't at least offer backwards compatibility they are dead
>all the things microsoft is doing
Such as?
BTFOing sony
So... when is ps6 cumming out and any rumors about it?
always online
micro transactioning
buying EA
Not buying Kojima so they will get a mgs exclusive games
being gay and loving the SJW crowd
having butt sex
the announcement won't be sooner than spring 2019 and they will probably release within the next 6 months. so early-mid 2020 is the most likely.
which is a bummer because I'm in the market for a PS4 but I want full 4K support instead of a half-measure that is Pro. and even then PS5 won't be relevant unless it's backwards compatible. all other platforms will have a stable cross-compatible software library at that points.
Hello gamer who started with PS3/360.
PS1, 1994
PS2, 2000
PS3, 2006
PS4, 2013
PS5, 2013+6=
Hint: PS2 is the best selling console of all time and it was still replaced in 6 years. With the PS3 intended to be release in 2005 with the Xbox 360 but they couldn't finish the design on time.
Sony could personally peg every last sonybro from Japan to America and they would still be ahead of the curve compared to Microsoft
2020 and will have bc only with ps4 games.
It has to be backwards compatible unless Sony insane
comprehensive and helpful post. thanks, user
what you wrote makes no sense?
This cant be the ps5 design, where are the stupidly impractical additions and changes that nobody in their right mind would make?
It'll be x86 again, so it's no effort.
If they don't add it, they're literally screaming I'M A JEW REBUY THESE GAMES NOW GOYIM.
I wouldn't count on backwards compatibility. Developers are making too much bank re-releasing graphical updates of PS2 and PS3 games.
Sadly, if they do offer BC, I'm sure they won't take the time to enhance them like MS does with it's older games.
Consoles are using the x86 architecture now so the PS5 will probably have native backwards compatibility support with the entire PS4 library. It'll be here come 2020 and not any sooner.
2020 and it will be considered a disappointment because the insane hardware the fans demand won't be there. Mobile Ryzen is only good enough for 30fps on most open world games and Vega isn't the massive step up AMD promised. Unless they went RX Vega MGL but Intel would charge them a fortune for that.
They better add backwards compatibility. I think I'm gonna switch to PC and buy a Nintendo switch if they don't.
I won't be switching to pc, nor will i abandon my ps4, i'll still buy any new good games that come out for it at the end of the life cycle. But i too will probably buy a nintendo at that point if they don't add bc. there likely won't be many good games for a couple years for the ps5, so i think adding the good games nintendo has/will have by then would be the better call.
ps2 to ps3 was a huge jump technology wise. There will be no such jump between ps4 and ps5.
Plus, ps4 pro breaks this cycle, as sony never did this before.
>will it be backwards compatible?
lol There is one calling "PS Now" or wipe dust off ur shitty PS3 and PS2 consoles
It won't be as powerful as the new xbox, the controller will still be shit, the BC will be shit compared to the Xbox, PSN will still be shit that goes down every day. Literally kill yourself if you actually think Sony should stay in the gaming industry.
>glass meme
nope
I switched to PC last gen because of paid online, it has the added benefit of letting you get consoles late for cheaper than release price and with an actual library. Got a PS4 slim back in 2016 for $200 with UC4 included and Bloodborne for like $15 more. I'm waiting to do the same with the Switch, hopefully Nintendo will release a version that doesn't have a fucking 32gb HD. I'm pretty sure the Metroid Prime trilogy alone was like 1/4 of the space on my WiiU and you can't use an SD card for anything but Wii data and the damn thing can't power an external HD so I ended up using a micro SD in an unobtrusive USB adapter because that seems to be the best option.
Consoles in general seem to have shit memory now relative to the size of current games, patches, etc. I never filled up my 320gb PS3 despite downloading tons of games and putting movies and entire runs of TV shows on the HD but I'm already to the point where I'm managing data on my 500gb PS4 with no shows or movies and few downloads. I borrowed Tekken 7 a while ago and despite having the actual physical disc that game installed 40-something gb onto my HD.
Uh huh, and Nintendo is also going to die any day now! Don't forget PC, it's been dead or dying for 15 years now!
Face it retard, none of the big three are going to die in your lifetime.
Not for at least another 2-3 years because PS4 is still selling so well. Sony has no incentive to release a next-gen console when they have more than 50% of the current gen marketshare.
All the ps5 needs is full disc backwards compatibility with the entire PlayStation library and it will fucking kill - especially if it has 1080p upscaling or more for ps2 and PS3 games
Thats what they said of the ps2 and that sold 155+ million compared to xbox's 24 million and gamcubes 21 million. That still didnt stop them from releasing the ps3 on time.
That'd be nice but it's a pipe dream, especially now that they have a streaming service to grow.
How out of touch can a company be?
They wouldnt be able to sell and shill their ''classic'' remasters on the ps5 so I doubt that.
It's not really, considering that the PS4 has a built in ps2 emulator with 1080p upscaling already and rpcs3 runs fantastic on Ryzen, which the next gen of consoles will almost certainly be based on
Being the same architecture as PS4 should make that BC extremely easy
Yeah, I wonder
And yet they won't do it.
I'm sorry that mongoloids only play shitty new games, but literally every Xbox one game I have is either BC or a remaster
>It's not really
It is. They *can* give you a nice thing included in the original price, that doesn't mean they will. They *could* have left online play free but they didn't. They *could* have unfucked content sharing or left it alone in the first place but they didn't.
They're in touch with the lowest common denominator and that'll put bread on the table, many execs have no reason to look past that especially as more non-vidya people find their way into vidya companies.
You should check on those numbers again, Shlomo.
Increasing the systems price just for the 1% is just a stupid business decision. One of many stupid business decision that made the xbox fail this gen
You wouldn't want to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on your PS4 or with enhancements on the Pro? You sound like a Sony suit.
>literally every Xbox one game I have is either BC or a remaster
Then why don't you just own an Xbox 360 instead?
People care about pricing. Sure BC would be a nice bonus if it didnt affect the price. Sony made shitty decisions last gen. Even the WiiU sold more than the ps3 did in its first 6 weeks and that system turned out to be a major flop. Not many people are willing to shell out more money stuff they dont care about and as xbox numbers show only 1% play BC games on xbox one.
>sony sat around and made the PS4 worse over time instead of improving the OS, now it's a fucking brick that takes ages to even turn on
why would anyone want PS5? It'll be inferior to 4 like 4 was to 3. Nobody wants to buy a big fat slow as fuck 20lbs dinosaur when competing products (PC gaming, Switch) are well designed, fast and efficient
Ratchet and Clank is in the toilet, God of War is a cinematic "enlightening" game now, inFamous is nowhere to be seen these days.
The list of Sony exclusives is dropping faster than ever before and 1st/2nd party games are less and less common than ever before
in like 6 years when AMD has some new hardware.
come on mane I was able to buy it only 2 days ago and you fags are already talking about the next one
holy shit
How much would it cost Sony to have BC on the new PS5?
Basically this. Traditional console generations don't exist anymore.
>There are no generations anymore!!! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!!!!!
>can't accept the truth
Nothing since it will have the same architecture.
It will have PS4 BC.
Gens start and end when Sony releases a new console.
we're in generation 9 right now whether you realize it or not. BoTW and Switch were the first steps. Generations almost always begin when Nintendo launches their newest handhelds. Gen 7 kicked off with the DS, 8 with the 3DS
The Sixth console generation began when Nintendo released the DS in 2004, not when Microsoft released the Xbox 360 in 2005.
>will it be backwards compatible
Lmao
Sixth gen was Dreamcast/PS2/GameCube/Xbox/GBA
>Based off of one small sample size during a small sample timeframe!
Yes, 930,000 out of around 30 million during a 4-and a half month time frame is great data. Really makes me think.
My predictions:
>It will come out between 2019 and 2021
>It will be native 4K HDR
>It will have a 4K blu ray player
>There's a 50% chance it will have backwards compatibility
>There will be a new gimmick with the controller, but it be very similar to every other PS controller
>They will copy the Switch and release a big game with their launch lineup (if I had to guess a game it would be Death Stranding or Horizon 2)
>It will be black
Screen cap this.
Exactly. Sony knows they can just milk their customers with remasters and charge them another $40+
Sony is trying to nip this in the bud so when it doesn't have bc, they can say "see, we told you before we had no interest in it".
Make it like the X but better for $650
The PS2 is the best selling DVD player of all time and by 2006 everybody had a DVD player. That's why it got discontinued.
Shame that they will probably keep the same controller. I hope they include a longer charging cable next time or have it to where you can plug in your own batteries.
>50% chance
With the money Sony makes from remastering games alone, It's a full 0%. Hard stop. Screencap this.
> Will it be Backwards Compatible?
Nah. Sony said people don't want it and sonybros defended them and agreed. Sony wants to sell you the game again at full price instead
If the PS5 isn't BC I'm giving up console gaming. I'm not going to keep buying the same games for different consoles when I already own it.
Get your shit together Sony.
Sony is not that much better than Nintendo about keeping up with the times. The PS4 launched in 2013 and didn't have something as basic as external hard drive support until last year.
This is what happens when Sony gets the lead. We've seen this movie before and I wouldn't get my hopes for the PS5.
This. The 360 was outselling the PS3 for most of the previous gen and Sony was forced to make major improvements. Now they've gotten lazy again.
>I'm not going to keep buying the same games for different consoles when I already own it.
How would you feel if the next Xbox had full disc based BC for 360 and Xbone?
>base PS4 nor the Pro have a 4K BD player
Let me guess, this would have increased the cost so they said screw it and screw our customers.
The funny thing is, Sony, who owns a part of the Blu-Ray Group didn't but Xbox has had a 4K UHD player since the One S.
The base model I can understand but yeah, it's inexcusable that the Pro can't play 4K blu-rays.
Good for them, but I'm done with Xbox. I'm back to being strictly a Sony pony, unless they fuck up.
They would add it in if they wanted to compete with Xbox.
>unless they fuck up
How have the almost consistent PSN downtime and awful practices been for ya?
but xbox isn't a console anymore, it's part of the WUP and they're slowly moving towards 'games as a service' to go along with their 'OS as a service'
Frankly I don't really have a problem with that. Probably going to buy a Xbone X later this year.
Isn't Nintendo adopting something similar to Game Pass?
Who the fuck knows. Their online service was supposed to launch months ago.
Why does it take a company to stumble to actually try to be competitive? I'm not talking about Nintendo exclusively, but all three companies. They all get greedy at one point and then screw things up then revert back to being "for the customers" and such. I guess that's how all facets of business work to a certain extent.
I think you underestimate how fucking dead the xbone is
Nintendo has disrupted Sony with their handheld/console hybrid. If Sony thinks they can just redo PS4 but with a bigger GPU they're in for a very rude awakening.
Switch was a game changer and the console market will never be the same again.
it's selling better than the 360
>over 40 million consoles sold
>dead
Man, you can really spot the NeoGAF leftovers.
Switch is a handheld
I'll just wait for the PS5 Pro
hurr durr what is an expanding market
look at how the switch and ps4 are selling in comparisson
which is exactly why Sony can't compete with it
not really. once again it's a console you'll never buy unless you like Mario and Zelda. I don't have to like Sony first party to find a reason to buy a PS4.
>MS went from basically 50% marketshare to like 30%
yeah, a great success for MS!
Probably in a few years.
The PS5 is going to have big shoes to fill if it wants to be like the PS4 and be able to compete with the X.
The PS5 needs BC, VR, specs to match the X, and be sold at a decent price.
I thought that Sony finally learned how to make a console because of the PS4, but then they went it fuck that up with the PS4pro, so it's anyone guess.
May as well be dead since all new Microsoft games are coming to W10 day-and-date with Xbox One. Great for me since I have a PC, but it also means there's never any reason for me to buy an Xbox again
Man, The 360 and PS3 was dead when the Wii was out. Look at that expanding market guys haha
no its not come on, its standard issue nintendo gimmicks and people who like zelda, mario and metroid will buy it
Remember when move controls were a game changer and consequences would never be the same? Remember when kinect was?
>no its not come on,
its a good console, but if you think ALL CONSOLES WILL HAVE TO ADAPT ITS GAME CHANGING then you are clinically retarded
There were recent patents of a new PSVR controller resembling the incomplete Valve Knuckles Controllers. The patent also implies inside-out tracking (like Windows MR), so this obviously isn't for the current PSVR.
So I'd say 2 years or so.
>its standard issue nintendo gimmicks
I'm pretty sure Sony was the first to release a console-tier handheld user. It's just that nobody bought the thing.
Kinect was actually pretty successful until Microsoft went full retard and built the Xbone entirely around it.
