I sadly only "finished" DGS by watching a poorly translated walk-through on YouTube. It means that a lot of details, examinations or cross examining sections were lacking. But overall it was enjoyable, shitty case 2 aside. OST and Sherlock were great.
If you don't think that Gina is best girl I will personally ensure that you get crushed between the steps of a metallic object we use to reach higher grounds which cause great debates on it's true name between the protagonists of this series

6-S is a very blatant trilogy throwback case. If you want to see Phoenix vs. Edgeworth with Maya assisting, then it's well worth your time.

I get why people like this game more than DD but some put it above T&T and AAI2 which blows my mind. It's alright but definitely in the low-mid part of a ranking list imo.

Following recommendations from the last threads, I happen to have finished playing the fangame Phoenix Wright Contempt of Court. And some anons were absolutely right, the game despite being fan made and a unpolished first case was astonishingly good.
HEAVY SPOILERS FOR THE WHOLE GAME
For those who finished it, what were your thoughts about the final villain, Hemlock/Snow? It was a little plagiarized from Dual Destinies final twist and lacking in foreshadowing elements, but it was executed well in my opinion. Everything made sense in the end and I loved that the creator tried to expand on the cohdopian smuggling ring remnants. A little strange that Franziska or Lang weren't involved but it still a great game/case. I loved it better than Spirit of Justice

I will try Conflict of Interest. I hope that I'll meet the same level of quality

Go ahead and play the DLC case, but it's not absolutely amazing. The best thing about it is the return of the Phoenix/Maya/Edgeworth dynamic. It's not as strong as DD's DLC case in my opinion.

Also I hope the next Ace Attorney is the final part of the DD/SoJ "trilogy" and isn't another soft reboot.

while i am not the person, my guess would be similar to my guess, that my expectations were too high because this was the game that mean ol' evil capcom never brought over to the glorious west, so clearly this had to be the holy grail of the franchise since everyone and their talking parrot wanted to brought over.

Then i learned Japanese and imported the game and turns out, while it was a good game, it definitely wasn't anywhere close to the Trials and Tribulations i imagined it to be in my head, so that's on me really.

So the rank for AJ, DD and SoJ for me are

AJ - 4 > 1 > 2 > 3
DD - 5 > 2 > 4 > 1 > 3 (haven't played DLC yet)
SoJ - 5 > 3 > 4 > 2 > 1

I need to replay the trilogy since it's been so many years, but I think T&T is still my favorite

Asougi actually being alive is an improvement. I always thought his death was really weird in DGS1, just generally but also in how heavy it should be in the story compared to Mia Fey dying. Turns out there's a reason for that and Holmes was hiding it from you.

Dual Destinies is the worst fucking game in the franchise. I enjoy every Ace Attorney game just about equally but DD makes me fucking cringe and gag at the very sight of it. Every single case is boring and a slog. The fucking tutorial case is the most interesting one. Athena is the worst character in the whole series.

There is nothing redeeming about it, and I am so glad SoJ didn't suck because I really thought there was no coming back from DD.

the issue mostly comes down to is that casing takes awhile to get going, and my free time is nowhere near as much as it used to be, or when i do have free time, i'd rather be playing actual videogames, this was the result of a case i was the judge of.

The drama after a long time died out, it's a chill place all in all, though the thread is impossible to salvage as usual. If you think the old case model was stagnant, there's now a new model called "pre-writtens" which are beloved by many people tired of the old meta, though I personally still stick to improvs. You might want to try, they are short cases with complex contradictions.

Pre-writtens are nothing new though.

See In pre-writtens you need like 2 or 3 less people to start than usual, so they start quicker and end earlier, that's part of the attraction.
The community is severely fractured right now. There is an AAI crowd who enjoys doing investigations, a Layton crowd that enjoys doing witch cases, and so on. Drama died out. And that's about it, it's nothing miraculous but it has gotten much more tolerable.

You might be thinking pre-builts. Lupa brought pre-writtens around two months ago under the premise that we never tried anything like that before. They are cases where one single person plays as all witnesses as well as detective. It is considered to be more flexible because one single mastermind has a lot of room for maneuver, but also more importantly much more logical since the person that made the case had several days to think of the contradictions and logic behind the murder. It's pretty new and worth trying at least for the experience but avoid going defense you will feel dumb
