Just beat Kiwani. My first yakuza game I enjoyed it and I have 0 coming in the mail which is heard is way better so I'm hyped

I finished 0 and Kiwami do I wait for Kiwami 2 and then watch a summary of the other games and play 6 or do I watch a summary of them then play 6 when it releases in the US, am broke and can’t play 3-4-5

clearly you aren't broke since you're buying 6 and have already gotten 0 and kiwami

I imagine 6 will have a recap of what happened in the other games

they are all standalone titles, but it helps to have some background of the other games because you are supposed to know the characters, and some of their stories

6 follows directly off of 5 though and there's an argument to be made about 5 following off of 4 even though they kind of handwave the Kiryu and Saejima thing at the end of the game.

Yeah, people say you need to watch the recaps if you want to skip games but if you skipped from 1 to 4 for example, all you would need to know is that kiryu runs an orphanage now, daigo is the chairman now, and kiryu got stabbed in the y3 ending, that's all that carries over.

i personally havent played all of them but from what i have seen so far they are mostly standalone
starded with 5 via ps plus free games one time then went to 0, kiwami, 3, and now im playing 4

skipped 2 since i am waiting for kiwami 2

0's Amon's were kind of underwhelming. So is just Beast: The Furniturening and Jo is blocking and abusing Slugger's Heat action to not have to deal with super armor in his second phase. Fights were fun though, especially webm related. I also love how Jo is practicing his menacing lines for when he meets Majima since it seems like he never fought anyone before.

1, 2, 3, and 4 are standalone for the most part though the start of 3 will make no sense if you didn't play 2 on top of spoiling that. Daigo messing up is like the only thing that truly matters outside of Hamazaki since Hamazaki is a decent part of 4 and is part of a lot of Saejima's story. 5 directly follows up on 4, however Saejima and Kiryu's finale in 4 is kind of glossed over for some reason and Akiyama's money situation from the end of 4 is also handwaved somehow which I'm not sure I understand.

6 directly follows 5 though, it's something like two years after I think it was? The start alone spoils the entirety of the ending of 5 and the choices Haruka makes in it are the reason almost anything in 6 happens. Hell, there's even a substory at the start of the game that has you getting a little girl Haruka's merchandise since she's a fan but because Haruka came out and talked about Kiryu the mother thinks she's a bad influence on her daughter and won't buy her stuff so Kiryu has to go on a wild goose chase for her since no one carries her merchandise anymore.

No. Keep in mind that these threads get like 50ish people at most nowadays, sometimes even less, and they're usually slow to begin with.

No. With 6 it's a bad idea since it's the end of Kiryu's story and the story directly continues off of 5 which would spoil the outcome of what happened in 5 and what that entire journey of all the characters amounted to. It's like if you jumped into Star Wars with Revenge of the Sith or Return of the Jedi, into Lord of the Rings with The Return of the King, or into Harry Potter with The Deathly Hallows.
