not a problem since
a.) its for children and casuals who just want to have fun
b.) youre way better without it anyways, if it were an unfair advantage then it would be a bad thing
you can't use most shortcuts, you lose access to purple sparks and in general it acts really weird and isn't that useful.
>non-gamers
is this a synonym for "women"?
Remember when you would hand younger siblings a controller not hooked up to anything so you'd "let them play"?
They couldn't tell the difference.
Just do the same thing with women.
It's for when that 5-year-old who can't drive for shit wants to play with you and will scream and throw tantrums with Mommy's blessing if you don't let him.
Remember: unlike in online mode, the race doesn't automatically end when the last racer has yet to cross the finish line. This is an anti-frustration feature.
wow it's almost as if mario kart is for kids or something... funny, right op?
It's literally a mechanic in a children's game supposed to be used by those very young children who have not yet developed a great sense of eye-hand-coordination
nothing wrong with it, I find it weirder to see people playing Nintendo games competetively than seeing stuff like this
the ONLY problem with smart steering is that its on by default, so when playing with a new controller youre forced to switch it off which can be a pain if you forget
you could probably fool a modern game journalist like a younger brother by giving him an unplugged pad and setting his guy to CPU
It took me fucking far longer than I'm comfortable admitting to realize the controller was never plugged in
interestingly enough, i've seen people not realize it's on, not realize what it does, not realize the game behaves differently with it on, and not knowing how to turn it off or on.
in single player, it's clearly labeled, but in multiplayer, it's got no text next to it so it just shows an antenna coming out of the back of the kart higher or lower. it's not realy clear.
i accidentally did like 3 grand prix with it on with my gf before i realized what the fuck was going on
it's optional and you can't even think of winning if it's all you're gonna use.
So does this literally just auto-drive?
you can hold down the A button and it'll brake too?
>try to take corner tight
>smart steering pulls you towards the middle of the track
So smart
This it's not fun having to wait 3 laps or do 3 laps for them to move on to the next stage.
>smart steering makes it possible for non-gamers and smaller children to enjoy the game
Seems like the exact opposite to me
Nobody can enjoy a game that plays itself
Games are literally nothing without a strong sense of autonomy
Yes, just like your PC MASTER RACE games which are just MARIO KART RIP OFFS
mobygames.com
"Kid Mode" is auto-accelerate and brake and all you do is steer, very similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Smart Steer!
imagine being this assblasted
Literally only autistic people take Mario Kart this seriously.
Its a mechanic aimed at children and casuals in a game aimed at children and casuals.
>playing a videogame

I was about to suggest this. Fuck are you me?
