You lacked the mental capabilities to see how bad things really were.
You didn't care as much about politics.
This. Don't ruin it by going back to play that one game, it really isn't worth the shattered illusion.
Because you were a young careless little pip.
cuz you weren't born yet
yesterday you said you'd call sears
Every year since 1982 has been shit
>nostalgia glasses
dude just listen to this bliss:

Postmodern psych conditioning and culture subversion wasn't as ubiquitous and blatant

>Reboot
oh yes
Because video game industry (Especially PC gaming) was not casualized and a small amount of people who actually played were coneseurs who cant be pleasured by "Just decent" quality.
Now video games became mainstream so it became casualized. Most of video game companies care more about money than on reputation and casual player is the best money source, so companies like EA targets mostly casual people to get alot of money.
Whoever claims the 90s werent glorious is a moron
I want to fuck that blue alien

Ey ey ba day ba wadladie day
Being middle class american in the 90s must have been the shit, I'll give you that.
Any other country on earth there is no greatest time then now
Because after the fall of the Berlin Wall most of the West bought into the delusion that it was the 'end of history', liberal democracy was final form of government and things would simply trend gradually upwards from 1989 onward to a point where everyone in the world lived the middle class American lifestyle.
That song is from 2000, though.
>there are people here who are allowed to legit-post who wern't alive in the 1900's
Idk, being middle class western euro was pretty fucking dope too
STAIIII
TRANQUILO
OH NO NO NO
BOOM
LIKE A BOMBA
Yep.
The USA was basically perfect till 9/11, after that it all went to shit from the after shocks of that event.
>Had so many great memories of playing Fallout 1
>Tried playing it again last year
>mfw
For me its Myth, what a great game but yikes replaying that on a modern pc
Big business hadn't ruined everything yet.
Depends. My favorite game was Grandia for the PSX. I still do a playthrough every year on my birthday (when I got the game initially). Been doing it for 15 years. Still love that game.
I got rid of all social media (except going to places like Sup Forums, which I don't take seriously at all) 5 years ago and it has actually made things soooo much better. Shit is pure cancer. You'll start enjoying things again.
>delete my facebook
>get called a forgotten nerd by my 13 year old nephew
>Grandia
I will always remember that as the game that made me fall in love with RPGs. It really felt like your going on an adventure and discovering the world as you traveled.
This
Music wasnt ruined yet... rock is dead.. every pop song or radio music today is nigger spicc rap and auto tune garbage
games and movies still had something going on... felt smarter then
now it is blown cgi fuckfests marketed through racism feminism etc because advertisers know their product is creatively bankrupt and worthless so they provoke and bully people into talking about it raising kids to look at entertainment from a political angle which in essence makes it propaganda
Yeah well we'll see who's laughing after us based millennials ruin his generation's chance of being happy forever.
YO LISTEN UP HERE'S THE STORY ABOUT A LITTLE GUY WHO LIVES IN A BLUE WORLD AND ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT EVERYTHING HE SEES IS JUST BLUE LIKE HIM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE BLUE HIS HOUSE WITH A BLUE LITTLE WINDOW AND A BLUE CORVETTE AND EVERYTHING IS BLUE FOR HIM AND HIMSELF AND EVERYBODY AROUND BECAUSE HE AIN'T GOT NOBODY TO LISTEN...
No one on this board actually remembers the 90s.
15th of January 1999.
It really did. The combat system was fantastic, the story was enthralling, and the music was a masterpiece. The main theme still gives me chills. Definitely 10/10 recommend the game to anyone.
imo it's better than FFVII
Can't imagine how fucked up the people are who grew up in the post 9/11 world are.
>Music wasnt ruined yet... rock is dead.. every pop song or radio music today is nigger spicc rap and auto tune garbage
>Listening to the radio in the first place
There's plenty of great music being made, you just have to put some effort into finding it.
The absolute state of this thread
Look around you. They are all pump so full of politics and propaganda that the only see political tribes and hate around them.
anyone born post 9/11 is almost entirely lost.
We were the good guys them. Our forefathers had saved the world from psychology, torture, slavery. We were united.
We didn't join forces that tried to destroy us.
We were encouraged to be different by those like us. Be original. Find out who we were by bringing it out. Criticism was a falling away from life, they needed to be saved somehow. Don't turn off or turn them away was how.
Value passed on as people burnt out bright. The warmed obliged to share what they'd seen. Finding out they had some of the same stuff in themselves. Then leading by example too.
Technology got exponentially better, the internet wasn't as common, people were keen to spread information, part of what they were spreading. Chinese whispers made it over the world, people passed on the best from eachother and made it happen or gave people who could the incentive to, rewarding who does the most for them with worship more than money. People wanted to be the ones who helped the most.
Reverend X said it best: It's a cooperation not a competition
People who were looked to as dogs could replace lies with truth and whatever was good was the truth. What was wrong didn't matter, only what was right. Go along with what's right. If there's a problem its because someone's preventing what's right from ruling there.
A lot vied for attention, enough going so things weren't killed by lingering on them. They were and stayed as that, incorporated in the rest. No sequels. No revising, or editing, only building. Flaws might be the thing that made them special.
People knew whatever came out of them belonged out. Giving life. People lived off eachother. Freed by eachother. Existing because of eachother.
At least 2 needed for something to have happened. At least in a way it spreads immediately. And it needed to. "You had to be there", things only meaningful while they are far above the rest. Keeping everyone far above important. The more skilled others are the more focus can be on the moment. Their triumph is yours
How come you alt-right lads are never into folk? It's as good as it ever was and it's the whitest genre of music.
This is the honest truth, one of the few good things to come out of the internet taking over everything is the ability for small bands to independently release their own music, go on Bandcamp, see some live shows, actually look and music is in a pretty fantastic spot at the moment
fuck
Who is that cute blonde twink with an owl? Down below.
Folk Punk is the only music I listen to anymore.
youtube.com
Not sure I fall under Alt-Right but I get called a Nazi by SJWs daily so I might be.
Played ALttP, Secret of Mana and Pokemon Emerald recently. Still every bit as good as they were when I was a kid - actually a little better than before because now I have access to shit like the ALttP randomizer and various enhancements via emulation.
There were always shit games, but the games from the past that were good were especially good. You weren't just imagining it because you were a little kid.
Well, I guess this is 56% white music.
>image search a cropped screenshot
>it actually gives source for once
wtf i love google now
>look up MIDE-400 Konomi Nishimiya
>skim through it
>no sign of that scene
wtf i hate google now
Also I've been playing Doom on a regular basis since like 1997 and it's only gotten better over time. Modern Doom mods and levelsets are actually better than the original game.
This.
Classic console games are still amazing, classic PC games are mostly dated and awful.
Console games just age better.
I want to go back.
It's MIDE-370. First scene.
DABADEE DABADU DABADEE DABADUU DABADEE DABADU DABADEE DABADUUUUU
>hating rap makes you alt-right
fuck off
>Being smart is to be unhappy
I also love Rick and Morty
But really, the true intellectuals have enough agency to be happy and appreciate life not only despite it's flaws but also because of them.
Yeah, yeah I know that you're all too cool for the alt-right now that it's gone mainstream.
thank you jesus
Even /tg/ stuff was better back then.
There was a bunch of fun any inventive card games, none of this gender politics focused corporate controlled shit we have today in magic.
You had things like this: youtu.be
Nothing like classic Legend of the 5 Rings will ever happen again, the magic of the 90s is lost and can't be recaptured.
you are mah famalam.
Which wad is that one? looks cool
Things weren't that bad before 9/11
Winter's Fury, from back in 2012. Great partial conversion, and one of the only level sets to do a story well.
Social media made people become more selfish and stupid
That's why the world sucks today
I was in my 20s during the 90s. It was a better time. We are living in a dark age now, the 80s/90s was a golden age.
100% agree. Social media has killed peoples ability to be social. There is no community anymore. Now we are just a echo of our past selves all being lead around by some west coast internet stars claiming.
thanks chap.
Since you've been on the scene for longer than I am, can you rec me some cool tech base wads? I love the aesthetics
>it's
>true intellectuals
Jews hadn't decided it was time to start winding up Western civilization before relocating to Hong Kong.
rap music is trash and you dont need to be an edgy racist to say so
Thanks for a valuable opinion, gramps.
That guy was a racist though. I wasn't replying to you.
The companies that made up the industry of whatever entertainment you enjoyed were still mostly small- to mid sized and therefore controlled by people who genuinely liked the medium and knew what made stuff good
Except the world, the western world at least, was an objectively better place in the 90s.
9/11 had yet to occur. There was not a 24/7 constant barrage of fearmongering on every news station. We had not yet been beaten over the head with the idea that we were somehow responsible for all the suffering in the world (save for some silly commercials about feeding kids in Africa). There was a lot more social cohesion - people felt safe in their own neighborhoods and like you could walk around without getting mugged or shot.
2007-8's housing crisis had not yet occurred and the economy had not crashed. Average people could afford things, life was not so strained for so many people. Today we have what, something like 140 million people on food stamps or other forms of welfare in the US?
It feels like the 90s was a better time because it actually was. We have grown up in very precarious, difficult times and many people are suffering.
Try Thunder Keep, Valiant and Knee Deep in ZDoom.
Agreed. Wish we were back in the early 90's when Thrash and Death Metal were the big hardcore genres. Now all this rap shit is the rave. Very sad.
Back in my day the entire town gathered for a potluck once a month, we shared with and helped each other.
In 2003 bunch of Hmong people got forced into out community by the refuge program. We tried to make them welcome, invited them to our events, etc.
They refused to join, started to complain to the city that our potluck was making them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
So we stopped to make them feel more welcome. Over time they started gangs, started to rise chickens in their backyards making the town stink, etc. They ruined my town and it is now over run by them. I am the only white person left in my part of town and living my home is taking my life in my own hands.
I don't blame them, they just have their own culture and it did not mush with ours. I miss my culture but I understand my people have no place in the USA anymore.
absolutely this. everything went to shit with 9/11. fuck 2000s and fuck eninem and 50cent
Who the fuck wants to talk with someone else on their way to job at 6am?
Boomers hadn't had enough time to ruin everything yet.
neat.I'd already played valiant, I'll check the others
Thanks for the Reddit picture and argument. Newspapers do not even compare to smartphones. You might as well say books made people antisocial.
Text-based media was and is a temporary distraction for when you had nothing better to do with your time. They did not and do not have the ability phones and computers do to slip into what is basically another reality and completely ignore everything around you.
KEK.
>100% white modes of public transportation
we have to go back
>born in 1998
>poor family was always behind the times
>JUST BARELY got to experience the "old internet" and spent a ton of time on Newgrounds and shit and remember lots of 90s tv shows and stuff playing on reruns
>mfw I was born in the perfect time to get a tiny glimpse of what it was like and then get a firsthand view of everything tumbling down
This. Sometimes these Gen Z arguments are stupid.
This.
I'd love to be able to ride a bus or train without having to be harassed by a bunch of thugs for being a "whitey"
Look mom, I’m paraphrasing a Slovenian communist on a interracial pornography website!
Being a middle class American probably peaked in the 60s, when your family could own everything it needed on one blue collar salary.
Plenty of economic dislocation in the US in the 80s and 90s, especially after the Japanese Miracle and NAFTA. Main difference between then and now is that the social contract hadn't fallen apart yet. Is that the internet's fault? Maybe. But, even though I was only a kid back then, I don't remember the mass media trying to make everyone hate everyone else.
*touches nose* Yesh
Uh, actually, I'm summarising the Adam Curtis documentary HyperNormalisation. Nice argument though :^)
it wasnt
Mighty Max
Personally I blame California. It has forced it's way into being "The True America" and has more or less pushed the rest of the USA into it's shadow.
99% of the problems with our culture right now can be traced back to California.
>Main difference between then and now is that the social contract hadn't fallen apart yet. Is that the internet's fault? Maybe.
The internet simply accelerated things. The social contract, and, by extension, gender relations, were already hurting after the sexual revolution. Then smart phones happened and they completely collapsed. That's why now you're seeing great swaths of unemployed, unattached men. Why the fuck should they care? What reason has society given them to prop it up?
I miss my pre-Myspace nerd paradise. Only got to experience it for a few years as a kid and didn't fully appreciate it. Now we have... this.
