Pick up dark souls a few weeks ago

>pick up dark souls a few weeks ago
>heard some stuff about the game and googled some stuff when i didn't know where to go but for the most part I went in blind
>mostly heard about what a bitch Ornstein & Smough were
>Get to them expecting hell
>turns out you can just train them around the arena and burn down Ornstein while barely getting hit

Iron Golem was harder than these guys for Christ's sake, is this really the worst this game has to throw at me?

do the dlc

wasn't impressed with them too difficulty-wise, too easy to kite. the battle is fun though

this

>>turns out you can just train them around the arena
This is why. It's not because of difficulty, it's because running towards the camera in circles around pillars is some deeply uninteresting gameplay.

the game's difficulty is overrated
also you might as well consider them the final boss and stop because its all downhill from here

>the worst this game has to throw at me?

Well, there is WAY worse shit later on but not in terms of difficulty but flat out terrible, unfinished design.

There is nothing in the dlc that is harder than anything in the base game.

>Dark souls isn't hard meme.
user, we're all super impressed by how good you are at games. Would you like to be our king? We need a naturally skilled gamer like yourself to lead us. Would you care to regale us with more tales about how easy you found the game, please? I'm really looking forwards to the part where you just parry Gwyn to death. I'm sorry, it's just such an honour to speak to an expert gamer like yourself, you see. I just want to bask in your reflected glory.

are you unironically saying the game is hard or is that just pasta

No way you went in blind. At this point, my dead grandmother knows Dark Souls inside-out.

All I knew about the game before coming that everyone said Ornstein and Smough were difficult and I should kill the Capra dogs first

Nah, I'm just sick of people pulling this indirect bragging crap. The game is objectively more challenging when compared to the majority of titles released around the same time as it. Nobody is impressed by these morons trying to indirectly boast about how gud they must be because they didn't find it challenging, and it's really kinda sad that they post crap like this seeking validation and backpats in the first place.

Oh whoah hold up, inb4 the DS offense squad and the usual.
>But it is easy.
>It's just pattern recognition
>Just parry lol
>Just minmax the best stats and gear with guides on your first playthrough lol

Did I miss any?

It's literally just rolling. There's not even any "patterns" to recognize. Every time you think the boss is doing absolutely ANYTHING just roll directly at him. That's how I beat the game. That's how you beat the game. There's nothing challenging about it, you fucking retard.

Oh right, also Dark Souls 2 tried to fix this utterly boring game design by nerfing rolling with iframes being tied to a stat and the result is an actually challenging game that the fanbase hates because they can't play their stupid fucking game that looks hard from a spectator's point of view but is actually easy. They have nothing to feel good about because they can't even beat the goddamn game.

I know what you mean. Fact of the matter is that you're a braindead retard or a game journalist to ever have a single death in most games. Most people playing their first souls game have triple digits death counts by the end of the game.

It's a strange backlash to the media (and From's own marketing) hyping it up to be THE HARDEST GAME IN HISTORY so people feel like they need to respond by saying "ITS NOT HARD ITS ACTUALLY EASY". It's harder than most games and it's not impossibly difficult dumbfucks there's an inbetween here

I can't believe you with how popular Dark Souls was. It's like me saying I know nothing about Skyrim. It's just impossible.
And it still earned that title. Many people had trouble with the game, and no, not only people that don't play normally. For modern standards, it's fairly difficult.

this guy gets it

Well I don't know anything about skyrim other than the arrow to the knee thing

It was never supposed to be about the difficulty. This series started its slow death when they abandoned that philosophy. Demon's Souls has comparatively piss easy bosses because they wanted to create special encounters instead of mere difficulty spikes.

You sound really upset that people might have had an easier time than you. You and people like you are the ones who talk up the big challenge of these games when that's not the main draw of the game and they're mainly about heavily punishing and unique encounters that are very different based on how your character is built, so when people with experience or a certain build inevitably end up having an easier time on some things of course they will come back confused. You have no one to blame but yourself for misconstruing what these games are really about.

I agree. Putting "Prepare to Die" in a game title was the writing on the wall for the series regarding the design philosophy from then on

Oh look, a goddamn retard!

No, user sounds tired of people going
>dark souls isn't hard what are you talking about over and over again.

Cut Kalameet's tail then come back to me.

Personally i found father of the abyss to be harder than anything else in the game. But maybe thats just me

It isnt fun. Its fucking tedious. I never die to biggie and smalls but I never have any fun either. DS2 shows how you do fights against multiples correctly.

And that's mainly because of people going
>wow dark souls is so hard this is the hardest game ever I kept dying
causing people to think they have to do some 10 month training course beforehand. It's an obnoxious chicken and egg scenario. OP was also talking about a single boss in particular and not the whole game.

>he's right, better call him a retard

I think the dark souls autists are mad at agility because, ironically, the game does a very poor job at explaining just exactly how it works

Damn it's almost like there's a reasonable opinion between the two extremes...

There is, but good luck finding people who get that on our little Tibetan mountain climbing forum.
