Define "open world".
Define "open world"
A world that is handcrafted for the player to explore and be immersed in.
pic related did it the best
Most of the people on here will say it was bad, I can't think of a better crafted experience though with Geralt's departure in mind
a world that is open
a world that is open
a world that is open
a world that is not closed
Should I play the first 2 before playing 3?
you can kind of picture that it's a little bit like a leaf or a, uhh
it's not a bowl
an army without borders.... our... outer heaven...
Stay far away from 2
2 is best pleb
Imagine a normal corridor shooter as the menu at an alright restaurant. Their isn't many choices, and the idea of mixing and matching only happens if you buy more than what you would initially want to.
An open world game is like a great buffet, near limitless choices and combinations at your finger tips with very little to hold you back from having a great meal experience.
Eh, they both have good stories, especially the first game, but also have absolute shite gameplay. I played through them on easy to get the story without spending hours on the combat, which made it less unbearable..
You can carry your choices over from game to game, but they don't have a huge impact and you can go into Witcher 3 blind and still have a good idea of whats going on
Nope. No point really. It's not like it makes one concise epic, it's just three disjointed games with the same protagonist and some recurring side characters. Even though CDPR claimed your choices matter and will carry over they don't but it's okay when CDPR do it.
Breath of the Wild
That's it, that's the only open world game worth a damn
How to spot a nintendy
you better be falseflagging
You can fuck right off with this bullshit. I loved W3 but the open worl was atrocious. The only "handcrafted" things were locations involved in quests, other than that they just made a pointlessly giant world filled with copypasted points of interest
There was absolutely no additional benefit compared to 1's or 2's world design

define "anime posters"
>minimize effort
You're an idiot if you think making open world games is easier.
>minimize effort
I'm at a loss of words user. Like seriously, if you have honestly convinced yourself that making an open world game is easy, you're just a deluded.
>have peons create huge world
>completely empty
wow so hard
Finally one person who gets it. I feel like you could replace the entire open world in w3 with just a menu which let's you choose where to go next and nothing would have been lost
WHY do you reply to animeposters?
*salute*
OR
a game with no loading screens bar the beginning.
Yes, every other pleb saying otherwise is wrong
It has open cities unlike oblivion
As empty as space engine
Even Xenoblade2 is a better open-world game than BotW.
Isn't Pokemon already an Open World?
Or does it need towers and useless collectibles?
When I started hearing about "open world", I though it would be like regular games, but without any loadings. That's how it should have been.
Anything that fits BOTH these criteria:
1) is entirely seamless
2) you can reach any place you can see
Pokemon isn't really open, there are large portions of the map that aren't accessible until late in the game and you can only really backtrack making gameplay linear.
An unclosed world.
