None if you're older than 10.

Original trilogy and Season of Flame. Never played Orange or the Shadow Legacy but the others aren't worth going through.

I only like the very first one but it seems like people generally are fans of the whole PS1 trilogy

the ones with skateboarding

I just finished A Hero's Tail.

It was just barely acceptable. Bland with a few good moments.
Don't 100% it. Not worth it at all.

Ripto's rage and year of the dragon.

One is super old and plays like shit.

...

I don't want this because I know I'd like it.

Only played the first Legend of Spyro. We're the other ones good?

>play Hero's Tail
>save constantly gets corrupted
>somehow manage to beat the game
>save is corrupted the next time I play it
I don't know why I wasted so much time on it when I didn't really like it.

Which version? I played it on Xbox with no issues.

ps2. Was the only game that ever game me that problem.

>not cynder

Go back to playing Gears of War, queer

OP we dont know if its truly happening. The leaker may not be right this time who knows. Perhaps a month from now would be a better time to post, we'd have a trailer by then hopefully

The original is the best.

the only worth while Spyro games are the original PS1 trilogy and A Hero's Tale

>Crash Trilogy gets remastered
>Spyro Trilogy gets remastered
>proper Crash and Spyro cross over game?
>CTR remaster with Spyro as a guest racer?

I passed on Crash but Ill get Spyro remaster day 1, fucking god tier ost comfy ass games

Am I the only one who revisited this series and found that it wasn't as fun as I thought it was? Spyro's moveset isn't that fun and collecting gems get tedious after a while.

You just know that they're going to use the Skylanders design for the Spyro trilogy remake.

I'm worried I might feel the same way if I revisit the games. I think it's been 8 years since I last played any of them and my tastes and knowledge of game design have changed drastically since then.

Played through Spyro 1 on ps3 like 10 years ago, It was still pretty damn fun to charge

I hate that Spyro is relevant again because it means the Subway sandwich image will be posted even more than usual.

they didnt use the Titan's design or the Skylanders design in the Crash Trilogy remasters, why do you think they wont use the classic design for Spyro

I can't wait until 90s nostalgia pandering ends in the 2020s and people move on to pandering to the actual best decade, the 2000s.

Here, take this

Because the kiddos who watch the Skylanders show wont recognize that it's Spyro otherwise.

>super old
It's like one year older. And it has the best levels in the series

Name one good video game from the 2000s

nigga are you for real?

Jak and Daxter

2 and 3 added a bunch of variety and characters but Spyro 1 is still the funnest to play imo. it's simpler and more focused platforming and exploration. I also think the softer color palette makes it the best to look at out of the 3

if it's your first time playing definitely at least try to 100% levels, if you miss some gems it doesn't matter but if you just bum rush through the levels they seem really small

>Ripto's rage and year of the dragon.
>One is super old and plays like shit.

they all play exactly the same
and each are only a year apart from one another

>Spyro 1 is still the funnest to play imo. it's simpler and more focused platforming and exploration
I agree. I wish there was a new game with a similar focus but more refined. All the minigame things get old when I replay 2 and 3, but the first game just has simple platforming and clever level design

>Super Mario Galaxy
>Halo 1, 2, and 3
>Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
>Paper Mario and PM TTYD
>Zelda Majora's Mask
>Metroid Prime
>Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Platinum
>Ratchet and Clank
>GTA: San Andreas
>Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade

Spyro's turn radius is a bit different in the first game, and he doesn't have the hover skill. But otherwise the same

If spyro 1 controlled like spyro 2 double jump glitch included it would be the perfect game.

I still think spyro 2 is my favorite though, despite how much smaller the levels became. Loved the aesthetics in this game the most I think. Spyro 1 felt way too saturated to me and spyro 3 just felt...off. It is really hard to explain it, but spyro 3 feels like a fever dream to me.

I think it holds up well, the movement still feels great and responsive, and the level design is very unique. Only thing that's changed is that they are easy as fuck to beat and 100%. But I've also played them a ton.

One is the best. Don't listen to these minigame loving shits

2 > 1 > 3
Indisputable fact

why's that

Is phil ever gonna play the other ones?

youtube.com/watch?v=3hO5o30IioY

I don't like how simple his movement is compared to platformers that came after; with Sly Cooper, for example, you can use a lot of gadgets, walk on tightropes, pickpocket, bash with a cane, etc. Spyro is boring if you come back to it after playing newer games.

>in another 12 years people will unironically start feeling nostalgia for the 2010s
I want off this fucking ride.

First, I should state that all of these games are excellent and I don't blame you for thinking it should be in a different order.
>Spyro 1
A new platformer in the vain of Super Mario 64, but with new ideas to distinguish itself from other games trying to cash in on the new 3D Platformer craze of the 90s. An indisputably excellent game, but it suffers from quite a few problems that prevent it from aging as well as it should have, most of which are due to it being the first game in the series.
>Spyro 2
Took what was great about Spyro 1 and expanded upon it twofold. Introduced citizens of each world you travel to to make this less desolate, and had the right balance of minigames and platforming. Every part of the game was a blast, even if the camera was a bit screwy, but this was a problem in all 3 games.
>Spyro 3
3 where where I feel they sort of dropped the ball. It seems like they forgot what made Spyro such a fun series, so they just threw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks. While collecting orbs in Spyro 2 or collecting eggs in Spyro 1 was a fulfilling experience, collecting eggs in Spyro 3 just feels really tedious and it makes me long for platforming fun when I finish all the minigames. Also all the other characters you play in Spyro 3 are really boring to play.

The original PS1 trilogy is essential. All three are fantastic games and definitely worth your time. The only other main series games worth playing after that is A Hero's Tail and maybe Attack of the Rhynocs if you don't mind isometric GBA 3D platformers. Everything else ranges from mediocre to terrible. Also, stay the fuck away from Enter the Dragonfly.

>In less than 2 years, people born in the 2000's will be in their 20's

Fuckkkkkkkkkk

I'd say 1 and 3 are about equal in quality overall.
1 doesn't have the unnecessary padding but feels too small in scope and can be a bit repetitive, while 3's padding isn't that bad on it's own and has a much better variety of levels, but it's length makes it a bit tedious.

But yeah, what makes 2 really work is it's the perfect length for a game. It has just the right amount of content for a fully featured experience, but also ends just before it gets old. There's exactly as much there as there needs to be, and it's all top tier quality.

Sometimes you just want to run and jump

>and had the right balance of minigames and platforming
Yeah this is one of those things that separate our opinions. For me the right balance would be pretty much zero minigames. I feel like Spyro's whole moveset ultimately ended up a bit underutilized. There were some great levels like Tree Tops that showcased what you could do with the simple concept but then it wasn't really used very much ever again

>Spyro's moveset
What is this, a fighting game?

>Collecting gems gets tedious after a while
???

I feel the exact opposite, I've had more fun with them on replays than I did playing them as a kid. I can appreciate shit like Spyro being satisfying to control and the flying and swimming mechanics being fun. People shit on the minigames in 2 and 3, but I even had fun with those, excluding the crystal collecting shit in Magma Cone. I also can't agree with the gems being tedious, they've got the most satisfying *BRRRING* sound effect I've ever heard in a game, and being able to grab them from a few feet away is something I wish was implemented into other games. They're a step above shit like the notes in Banjo-Kazooie.

>and being able to grab them from a few feet away is something I wish was implemented into other games
True, this really makes it feel much less frustrating

Platformers at their core are very simple, I don't think I have to explain what makes the Mario games good..
It's all about mastering the sprint and glide moves, you can get through the levels really quick if you master those, I don't think Spyro would need any more moves to make the platforming feel good.

About the sly games, they are great, but as for the his move-set it's just "press O to latch on to object". It's there to make you feel like a thief but it doesn't require any skill to use, thankfully theres traditional platforming thrown in there as well to make it more akin to a game.
And the extra powers you can collect varies a lot in useability, sense why they are optional. Yhey rarely have any use in the enviroment.

Controversial opinion time

1=2=3
They're all 10/10 games, your favorite will come down to subjective shit, what levels you liked the most and whether you liked the minigames. It pisses me off seeing people here attack whichever one they happen to like the least.

Characters and minigames were rubbish and movement was objectively worse in 2 and 3

>my opinion is fact
You must be 18+ to post here.

Nice try I was born in 2000

Spyro 2 has the hockey minigame
>*moves queen to B7*
checkmate!

Obviously original trilogy but I also recommend checking out Season of Ice/Flame on GBA. Pretty damn underrated.

Then act your age.

ok mum

All that stuff just becomes tedious. There's probably only a handful of minigames that stay fun

then you should respect your elders!

Yeah so I respect Spyro 1 more than 2 and 3

I was only jesting, i don't remember half the shit in Spyro 2
That is good son

>mum
Do I have to send you back to elementary school, son?

bitty

No excuses.

>Elora the Goat in HD

aw yeah

>which Spyro games are worth playing during the wait?
The first 3, and nothing else whatsoever.

The reboot was completely different, and had fuck all to do with the PS1 games (but I think it was good, with occasional great moments).

...

My first Spyro game was pirated copy of Ripto's Rage with Casper on one CD. Which caused one problem, one of the Spyro's world made game freeze and because of that I haven't been able to beat game completely for 3 years.
My next game was Spyro 3 and only then I played 1st game.

Maybe because of I still count Spyro 2 above any other Spyro's games.

This is technically Elora in HD

I think a lot of people choose what they think the best of the 3 is based off which one they played first. That's why I'll always love 3 the most, not cause it's better than the others.

I swear to god I will shoot up a school if they use the skylanders design for the remake.

Spyro 2 is the best one. Its the sweet spot, since it didn't age badly unlike 1, and its not filled with unnecessary minigames like 3.

Spyro The Dragon, for PS1. Nothing else is worth playing, at least more than once.

The first game and that's it.
Unless you like infuriatingly shit minigames.

are they required?

None.
Spyro was never good sadly.
It is more about nostalgia.
I went back to the PS games and fuck, they were not as good as I remembered.
Don't play them, cherish the memories.

you need orbs to progress so yes

what's wrong with them?

How did 1 age badly. It's basically the same

Huh, I play them almost every year. I think they are just fine

Original trilogy and Hero's Tail.

>inevitable
>already announced
Learn words next time

>already announced

No it isn't

It was already leaked, close enough

>"""Laura Kate""" Dale
>legit leak

Lacks replayability, to me at least anyway. I quite literally finished replaying YoTD over the last weekend after putting it off, I've not played it in 10 or so years.. I'd hardly call it a challenging game and I don't find the controls particularly fun. The camera straight up infuriates me and so does Charging. There's little variation in how you take down enemies.

If you ask me Insomniacs best work went into Ratchet & Clank, which has near identical world design (think secret areas hidden behind nooks and crannies), collecting shit is actually useful, more imaginative enemies. I spose OST and art direction are subjective.

I just don't have the nostalgia for it like I do Crash. I can replay Crash time and time again because of relics and the feel that I can push myself to do better. Spyro? Once you've explored and collected everything there's little reason to play the game again because you're not going to get that rush of finding that secret area a second time.

One thing that got much worse as the games went on were the speedways. You could choose to take many paths in spyro 1 but by spyro 3 everything was set up to be done in the exact same way every single time. like harbor speedway for example, if you deviate even for one thing then the time trial is over

I felt that way about MediEvil, which my dad and I absolutely loved back then, but playing it now it's way too simplistic and unchallenging.

Came here to say this. The magic is completely lost when you play it as an adult. Some of the minigames are still hard as fuck tho.

Honestly I wouldn't mind.

Better that than the original skylanders design he had.

>The magic is completely lost when you play it as an adult
Happens with a lot of things I've noticed. But in this game specifically, when I was a kid the levels seemed so expansive and the boundaries just captured my imagination. Now it's like oh ok the level ends here

The demo on crash team racing

Skylander. It's the only good shit
