Man talk shit about the blue shell all you want, at least it shift the tides. The only thing the stupid fucking thunder does is throw everyone off, remove items and put a huge fucking bump in the middle of the race, killing all momentum, all for the sake of some dumbass in 11th or 12th that probably will stay there for the rest of the race anyways.

Reminder that you can dodge Spiny Shells in DD and DS by skillful drifting, and in Wii, 7 and 8 by using a mushroom. 8 goes absolute babymode with the horn though.
