Throughout all the zelda games, ganondorf uses lightning attacks, swords, earthquakes among other things

>throughout all the zelda games, ganondorf uses lightning attacks, swords, earthquakes among other things
>in smash bros, he's a craptain falcon clone, and has been for 3 games running
>sakurai even knows he uses a sword and teases it in a taunt, but still opts for the boring, unoriginal moveset

>throughout all the donkey kong games, DK uses barrels, has a coconut gun, orange grenades, all kinds of barrels, minecarts
>in smash bros, he has the same old boring heavy moveset from the first fucking game, 4 games running

Would it kill Sakurai and the devs to vary up these tired old movesets a bit? Many of the characters from Melee and the original Smash have come a long way, yet still have the same movesets, some of which are literal clones. What about Iron Tail for Pikachu? Beetle or any kind of Shield attack for Link? Some fairy type moves for Jigglypuff?

I really want to see ganon get an original moveset, but I don't want to see him using a weapon. He has the triforce of power so why does he need one? I'd love to see him have some slow ass flying/floating move that he can go into a death from above ground pound. I guess what I'm saying is that I want OOT ganondorf. His twilight design is fucking stellar but using it three games in a row would be pretty tiresome with all the different incarnations there is of him

...

Hey wait a second this is videogames

>Pacman
>side attack throws out his enemy
>special throws away items he likes to pick up
>other special throws down an obstacle from a literal who game
>majority of his attacks swap between his old and new designs

What an absolute clusterfuck, imagine if Mario was designed like this

I want to see him use that fucking Trident.

Why do you have to say "fucking"?

...

I think there's a significant portion of the fanbase who would be upset at such drastic changes.

Of course, seriously competitive players don't matter when they'll just make Project M out of it again.

>I think there's a significant portion of the fanbase who would be upset at such drastic changes.
No they wouldn't.

You really think competitive players who've spent 4 games mastering their barely changing characters wouldn't be upset by drastic changes like OP's?

Only things Sakurai likes (Little boys and Kirby) are allowed to have new moves.

Imagine taking smash bros seriously
Like badly have your parents fucked up with you that you take a fucking nintendo party-game (see, franchise seller) and base your life around it.
Pathetic

One of ganondorfs custom abilities is him drawing the sword and thrusting with it though, just saying

Zelda hasn't got a new rep since Melee. Hackurai doesn't care about the franchise.

>toon link in brawl

Do we really want fucking Zelda to dominate the roster when Mario, Pokemon, and Fire Emblem do already?

Fuck off.

All the Zelda characters that matter are in the game, plus Sheik. If you want them to add new flavour of the console generation Zelda characters, then Sheik's spot should be a rotating one that accommodates whatever new game they want to advertise.

>custom abilities
do you really expect people to take you seriously
not only are customs a bitch to set up, you can't even use them online.
Not to mention this "sword attack" is just a literal reskin of falcon punch with just a small sword added

they should add girahim

Mario Pokemon and Zelda are the three pillars of Nintendo, I'd prefer that to fucking fire emblem. it's crazy how much fire emblem pandering there is, it screams nu-nintendo

Sorry, *fricking.

Ganondorf was a last minute addition to the Melee roster, they reused the model from that one demo, gave him Captain Falcon's moveset and called it a day.

At least they reworked the G-dawg's moveset in Brawl and 4. Now he doesn't even feel like a clone. And to be completely honest, landing a reverse Warlock Punch feels SO FUCKING GOOD.

Why you have to say fuck?

>Now he doesn't even feel like a clone
He actually does. Just because you make a few minor changes doesn't mean he's not a clone. Literally all his specials are the same shit.

Smash is the reason Fire Emblem became so popular in the west. You realize this, yes? They almost decided to cut Marth and Roy out of the western release of Melee, but they figured "what the hell" and left them in. And the rest is history.

Fuck you, I want a heavy Cpt. Falcon. Zeldafags always trying to shit up things I enjoy.

So let's compromise and call him a semi-clone. Like Luigi. Or Lucas.

No.

Luigi at least has a reason to be a close of Mario. Ganondorf has no reason to use Captain Falcon's moves.

The best thing to do would be to give Ganondorf's move set to Black Shadow from the F-zero franchise and make an original moveset for ganondorf

There is a reason, they added Ganondorf late in Melee's development. They picked Falcon's moveset because their models had similar proportions, and there wasn't time to develop a brand new moveset.

After Melee, it became a grandfather clause thing.

The biggest things nintendo needs to do with SSB to make it a fighting game that can be taken seriously are

>faster gravity, dont make it feel like youre sinking through molasses

>drop the items, or just the goofy ones

>stop with the bubble shield and grapple shit, just ends up being two shrinking bubbles trying to grab each other, boring!

>stop making it so easy to recover from falling off the arena, grab ghe ledge etc... it stops being a real fighting game and just becomes about trying not to fall off the map

>no more dropping through solid surfaces to attack people below

>more characters with an actual fighting background, they try too hard to make non-combative nintendo charactters have 'attacks' its just goofy and ruins immersion pic related

>Would it kill Sakurai and the devs to vary up these tired old movesets a bit?

>people have already forgotten custom B moves in sm4sh

Fuck you, Samurai Goroh or bust.

>Pokemon
>Nintendo literally have to barter with Pokemon Company just for the rights to use their characters in Smash
>Literally need express permission to use Pokemon in promotions
>They can't even cameo in other Nintendo games

I mean I guess technically it is but calling it a NIntendo made franchise is laughable.

Villager is just an unfun piece of shit to play against.
Its who you use when you want to piss someone off.

It's almost like Pac-Man has less to base a move set off of than Mario.

>>drop the items, or just the goofy ones

you can do that yourself

>every fighting game should be a Street Fighter clone
>NO FUN ALLOWED EVER

it's also funny because pacman is a pretty indepth character in sm4sh

>faster gravity, dont make it feel like youre sinking through molasses
Fair enough
>drop the items, or just the goofy ones
Turn it off in the options menu meleefag
>stop with the bubble shield and grapple shit, just ends up being two shrinking bubbles trying to grab each other, boring!
Your opinion but grabs are fun
>stop making it so easy to recover from falling off the arena, grab ghe ledge etc... it stops being a real fighting game and just becomes about trying not to fall off the map
There are maps that do that though and increasing the gravity would accomplish that, recovery moves should still be useful
>no more dropping through solid surfaces to attack people below
Ok, you're just baiting
>more characters with an actual fighting background, they try too hard to make non-combative nintendo charactters have 'attacks' its just goofy and ruins immersion pic related
It is a party brawler you dipshit, making it a fighter would ruin its appeal.

Then why is he so low tier?

Because nobody wants to put that amount of effort into a character when characters like Cloud and Bayo are so braindead. Dedede is at least mid tier but is always ranked so low because nobody plays him

>bowser jr so low
What went wrong? I remember people were predicting he'd be amazing.

>jigglypuff last
How the mighty have fallen.

Why did they call it End of an Era?

Smash 4 > Melee

Yes, they would get upset, but the competitive players make up such an immensely small portion of the smash fanbase hat it's laughable.

Actually the success of Advance Wars in the west was what pushed Nintendo and IS to localize Fire Emblem

That doesn't really disprove his point user...
