Am I the only one triggered by these fucking unskippable animations that interrupt gameplay for everything you do such as pressing buttons, opening doors etc?
Am I the only one triggered by these fucking unskippable animations that interrupt gameplay for everything you do such...
No, we all are.
No, you're not the only one
Yes. You are the turbo-autist that doesn't like it when anything regarding immersion happens.
They're really terrible, don't know why FPS games started doing them. I guess Call of Duty was the first I can remember.
What, do you think buttons magically depress themselves or that combination locks spin on their own like they're possessed?
It's called immersion, faggot.
2001:
>hurr use the force luke
2014:
>ADD kiddie gets triggered he has to wait half a second
Yes you’re the only one
>game takes away control from the player every 2 minutes to perform the same prerendered animation that you've already seen dozen of times
This shit is the opposite of immersion
If it's fast and doesn't interupt the flow it's fine (rtcw does it well). Shit like brutal doom or nudoom are unacceptable
i decided to play nu-shadow warrior yesterday and uninstalled when every door made me watch a doop opening animation for no reason at all. but the worst shit of all was Max Payne 3, cutscene every 2-3 minutes, EVERY door
depends. I enjoy it in immersive games like metro
I hate awkward ladders as well
>wake up
>lock into position before my alarm clock
>lose control over my body as a ghostly force carries me through the process of turning off the alarm clock
Real life is fucking weird
>being attacked from all directions
>pick up a new gun
>movement speed reduced to a stroll as you flip the gun around in your hands and play with it like a toy
Thief 4 has to be the worst game for this, it's horrendous. If there's a few coins lying on a table, you have to go through a whole animation to daintily pick up each and every individual one as your view bobs up and down exaggeratedly, and it takes for-fucking-ever. The idea that this kind of thing is "more immersive" is a load of shit.
>hold [button] to open the door
>have to actually hold the button a full second before the slow opening animation starts
Way to pad your game shitheads
Slowing down to a snails pace so the character can talk on the radio is far worse.
This is why I can never get into Oblivion
Every time I talk to someone the zoom in one someone's face is fucking annoying. Every time I have to wait a second before it zooms in on the persons face before I can begin the conversation.
In Morrowind I could talk to a person instantly the second I interact with them
are you fucking retarded? it does exactly the opposite, it breaks immersion. It breaks momentum.
Imagine you're on a road driving your car with no traffic
Now imagine you're driving on the road with traffic and you break every 1 minute because of it.
which one is more pleasant?
I had no problem with the picking animation. Opening windows however was the most tedius
No need for an abstract analogy like that, just consider when you flip off a light switch as you leave a room. Do you stop and stand still before the light switch as you vigorously pull it from off to on, being sure to keep your target at the center of your vision the whole way through? Or do you just flip the thing off without stopping or giving it a second though?
You need a damn good reason to take control away from the player and "so we can show you that you pressed a button" is not good enough.
I bet you also sperg out when an FPS has your legs visible
Why would he? That doesn't break gameplay
