Why haven't you beaten a roguelike, yet?

Explain yourself.

I beat zettai hero project. Does that count?

>die of starvation because I couldn't find a secret door because lol rng
Rogue was shit and games trying to be like it are retarded

Yes, excellent taste.

I've ascended in Nethack 12 times

but I have and they are some of my favorite games.

I've beaten DCSS, Tome4, Sil, Doom RL off the top of my head.

I fucking hate roguelikes is why

I beat DCSS three times but never 15 rune, maybe next tournament.

terrible indietrash genre

Nuclear Throne was easy to beat though

i only beated nuclear throne, underrated game

my favorite roguelike is call of duty personally

what's this

Dead Cells for what its worth, Delver, Eldritch, Nuclear Throne, Teleglitch, Rouge Legacy, I want to say Duskers counts too
I'm sure I've beaten more but I literally cant remember them all - I love roguelikes

iirc this is from dungeon crawl, a hard as fuck roguelike, ive only ever made it to the elven level and got assfucked by 20 of them. the card god is the best god, access to top tier spells for free once it gets going makes you feel so powerful

I've only beaten Brogue and I did it with a cheesy war axe build.

>the card god is the best god

Please,Okawaru and Trog are known to be the strongest gods in the game,Nemelex is just good.

beat nethack and adom

I saved scummed so hard the Orb Of Zot, that second playthrough I easily beat the game without savescumming.

I've beaten DCSS a couple of times but I've never managed to get 15 runes.

>doesn't count because shootys

I actually I had to restart 3 times, the first time I learned how to savescum by copypasting folders, so the game is still pretty fucking hard even if you savescum.

makes me want to play it again, what makes okawaru great? i know trog is just tip top tier damage

I have, user.
I've beaten "roguelikes" (aka not roguelikes) like Binding of Isaac, Spelunky, Rogue Legacy, Darkest Dungeon and ToME 4

As for actual roguelikes: Just NetHack and DC:SS (1.12 with 7 runes)

Doesn't DCSS get boring? Don't you just hold o and tab to explore and fight? Or am I missing something

If you want to die, yes.
I mean you can technically go with Trog and for the most part, tab your way through several areas but when you start meeting groups of Gnolls or Orc Priests then it's going to get you killed.

The only boring thing about DC:SS imo is that 15 runes is just tedious at a certain point because you've already won - it's really just like NetHack with a wizard playing "spam polymorph" until you get what you need.

An edit of the "get dat fukken disk" picture from space station 13(where it depicted the captain chasing a syndicate operative holding a floppy disk) to instead show a mummy holding the orb of zot fleeing from a somewhat anthropomorphized orb of fire, in reference to DCSS and potentially specifically in reference to the Mummy Monk challenge popular in /vg/'s roguelike general threads, where you are required to play a fragile undead race only suited for spellcasting as an unarmed and unarmoured fighter, allowed only to wear rings, punch, and throw things which aren't throwing weapons.

I’ve beat The Binding of Isaac many times

i beat tome4 twice and its orc campaign once

I'll beat a roguelike as soon as Sup Forums can answer this question: "What is a Roguelike?"

I've beaten DoomRL on normal multiple times, Brogue once as a & and also got gud at CDDA so it's just not fun anymore.

Turn-based, grid-based, procedural generation, permanent death

Hero+Fitness keep your skills high and are cheap to use, plus Okawaru gives better drops and doesn't kill your magic abilites.

A game with gameplay almost exactly like Rogue

>got gud at CDDA so it's just not fun anymore.
It hurts so much

Video of the thread

Play demon.

How to get gud
im having real trouble with the game

Okay, here we go - an ACTUAL Roguelike: RNG generating the levels and loot and enemies (to an extent some non-random levels exist and are fine), generally after a certain point it's all on you if you die, there is a clear objective and generally speaking, very little to backstory unless taken from a media franchise already (see Angband), grid based movment in eight directions, there is permanent death (cannot be avoided or removed via cheating alá ToME 4 by donating for the cheats).

See: NetHack, Angband (I prefer Zangband, though) and Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup for examples.

sounds fun

In the early dungeon, if you're playing a melee fighter yeah you pretty much just press o and hold tab and only have to do things if your guy runs into something he can't beat up easily(in which case you drink a potion or run away). But casters are more interesting and late game even the biggest tablord will get killed using autofight. You'll have to make smart use of limited resources and positioning. Evocables and god powers eventually turn anyone into a pseudocaster. Of course, the devs are actively trying to remove any playstyle that doesn't revolve around holding tab or spamming one level 9 AOE spell in the name of "cutting bloat and busywork" so yes eventually DCSS will just be a game where you hold o and tab for a few hours and receive either "you win" or "you lose" at the end but it's not quite there yet.

I don't play meme genres

I beat pixel dungeon on almost every run.
Does that count?

I beat Hearthstone's Dungeon Run, twice. Yes, that barely counts. But it sure is rewarding.

Turn based, on a grid, permadeath, no saves(other than on quit), randomly generated challenges, involves fighting and beating enemies and there is some sort of time pressure or spawn limit to prevent grinding, and there are one or more objectives to complete in order to win the game.

interesting, so he's better suited to a caster? ill keep that in mind, love using spriggan enchanters

The only Roguelike I've ever really played was Dorfventure.

>roguelites
Get that shit outta here

But I won Brogue twice.
The first with a teleport charm that had a 5 turn cooldown to run away from danger and the other time I found a quietus weapon on the first floor and I enchanted it until it reached a 50% instakill chance.

it took me almost 3 years but i did
crawl.akrasiac.org/scoring/players/ketziah.html

alot of those games were start scumming dswn

I've beaten DCSS, but I should go for some harder games. Or maybe more runes.

I beat Isaac, Strafe, Rogue Legacy and a few others that are less popular
youtube.com/watch?v=zWM_gN0-_10
which one would you recommend me op? other than Unexplored, Immortal Redneck, Dungeon of Dredmor etc.

Roguelikes are pretty ugly. I beat incursion and IVAN who looked better, and im waiting for cogmind get a stable release.

How would you call rogueliTes if the term is not so used?

unexplored is decent but it's real time

Do roguelites count?
I have beaten Rogue Legacy multiple times.

I've never played any real roguelike besides nethack, and I never get far in that because I'll get only 2-3 floors in and then I'll be stuck breaking my legs trying to find a hidden passage way, with no success.

I've beaten robotfindskitten. Does that count?

Roguelites do not count.

the only good roguelike is dredmor

I guess I beat Elona technically, been playing CDDA a lot recently though

...

>muh dos looking rogue are better xD
I bet you also praise Dwarf Fortress over proper looking games like Rimworld

I don't think you understand why people praise dorf fort.

other than mods I don't see it

Not patient enough.

Because Cataclysm doesn't really have an end state.

I've played it multiple times to the point where my character is basically unkillable and i'm self-sufficient though

People say that Nethack is fucking bullshit but Adom is pretty close to being annoying like it.

roguebasin.com/index.php?title=Berlin_Interpretation

I beat Isaac a while back, put s many hours into it.
I tried things like Nuclear Throne and Gungeon but I seem really bad at those because I'm shit at trying to manage my ammo.

But I have.

>Dead Cells for what its worth, Delver, Eldritch, Nuclear Throne, Teleglitch, Rouge Legacy, I want to say Duskers counts too
Literally nothing you listed is a roguelike.

Let me help you guys.

how do i into caves of qud?
i have no idea where to start

never go to cities in the daytime, craft a knife spear ASAP and use the reach attack so you're not in melee range, and abuse throwing using rocks or throwing sticks, it's hilariously overpowered

Not to shit on your dick user, but this looks like absolute ass. I'd rather stare at Atari 2600 graphics than this.

>never go to cities in the daytime
Zombies and most other enemies can see you just fine at night, it only puts yourself at a disadvantage.

Not to slob on your knob friendo, but I disagree. Art's subjective.

Good taste mate. Also I don't really remember that sequence, is the new addon released already?

They're boring as fuck usually, especially the combat.

I don't know of any.

It looks fine

>I don't really remember that sequence
You don't remember beating the vanilla campaign?

There are much better games out there that it is a waste to play any roguelikes.

Only shady zombies can see in the dark, the rest can only see as far as you can. Bring night vision perk and you can avoid them entirely

I 100%'d Enter the Gungeon.

whats the game?
