>we want the subnautica audience

When I realized that it wouldn't become 3D first person dorf fort and it became autism grinding legos with monsters

When they thought it was a good idea to clash the blocky artstyle with hyper-realistic dynamic lighting

Subnautica mod when?

This.

Is this the underwater update notch promised 8 years ago?

>implying dorf fort isn't autism grinding with monsters

The Adventure Update.
That's the one that added hunger, sprinting, NPCs and completely changed the world generation system to make it more realistic/boring.

>they add all this shitty useless shit
>instead of incorporating mod ideas to be in the game like trains

I guess it is but at least it has enough depth to make it feel like there's always something out of your reach to achieve

When Notch stopped visiting Sup Forums and took his endless vacation days.

Minecraft didnt die with the hunger update
Minecraft died when all the servers went from fun little communities where you knew everyone that played regularly and built cities with to massive minigame servers that hold thousands of players at a time, with almost noone knowing eachother
Minecraft died when its sense of community died, and I blame hypixel

Around the time it became apparent that they were no longer going to refine the core gameplay but instead just add a whole bunch of worthless shit like different animals and trees and pointless knick-knacks every single update.

standing in kelp gives you oxygen

Hunger

When their "experimental"/"snapshot" update after Notch first left was of fucking cats, rather than the "top priority" modding API that Jeb promised they wouldn't update the game whatsoever for until it was done

Handheld lanterns when?

Do they even have a vision? They jut add more objects instead of improving the gameplay

After Notch left

I wish they'd stop updating it so that modders can finally work on a single version of the game

still waiting

If I could remove this and keep all of the new content and have it not in java without requiring w10 maybe I'd play it again.

When they added hunger
Before hunger mining was cozy as hell; you'd go down your mineshaft, dig until you find a cave system, and spend the evening exploring and mining it while listening to comfy C418 tunes. Assuming you were playing smart and not taking too much damage from monsters then you really didn't have to worry much. Hunger completely broke that loop for me, it added this bullshit limit to how long I could mine based on how much food I had brought down with me. Wanna explore that branch of the cave you just found? Fuck off you're hungry and ran out of food. Like, even if you were good at fighting the mobs off and not taking damage you still had to make trips up to the surface to get more food.

I get this is an insanely subjective complaint but it's what killed Minecraft for me.

When they removed floating islands.

The downturn started right around the switch from indev to infdev, but hunger was the final nail in the coffin.

flaot when

>friend gets a minecraft server
>"lets play a survival"
>he gets bored almost immediately and command consoles in a fuckton of endgame shit
>good thing we just skipped the whole point of survival
>couple weeks later "lets do a survival for real"
>like actually real?
>"yea im just gonna hack in enough to get started and no extra stuff"
>so not legit survival
>"just a few things this time"
>15 minutes later hes no clipping around with full diamond armor and unbreakable infinite ammo fire bow

Never forget, men

Literally havn't played since they added pushblocks. Games been shit for so long now.

1.9 was the last straw

1.6

Fuck the hunger bar

Funny how Mojang perfected worldgen so long ago yet somehow fucked literally everything up since. You can not make a world anything like this in the current build.

The Halloween nether update. Nothing was the same afterwards for me.

Beta 1.8 and the Adventure Update.
I think hunger wasn't really the problem. The issue was the world generation, it became bland and ordinary.

Everything after 1.7.3

When they failed to implement seasons, make crops grow from ONLY sunlight, and force the threat of starvation upon players in the winter season (crops don't grow for weeks, months).

Would've also liked where if you stored bread in a chest, mice/rats would try to get into it.
Then, there would be a purpose to domesticating cats, and keeping them around.

>tfw took a while to get used to nucraft but now that I have I absolutely can't go back to the older versions
It's just too good
Sure it's way different but it's f u n

Not really, Minecraft was just some hobby game Notch was making in his free time that spiraled out of control.
When he sold off Minecraft to Microsoft and bailed the game lost any semblance of vision it previously had. Minecraft was the kind of game that was better with less developers.
Old Minecraft wasn't some tightly designed game with a clear theme in mind, but everything felt like it fit and made sense in the sandbox because there was one or two people working on it. As soon as the feature bloat set in and more people got involved everything got diluted and it went to shit

The End if that was before hunger. If not, hunger.

>muh hunger
>i cant spend 5 minutes getting a stack of bread
>i cant be assed to switch to the bread every 5 minutes to eat it
I bet you play in creative mode.

But how does it bother you THAT much, when food is so easy and abundant to get?
If anything I see hunger as pointless, not because you have to constantly eat, but because it is so easy to do so.

If anything, they should've made it so that food rots!
Then you would need to actually, y'know, plan expeditions. Trade with NPCs.

This is you
>Plays survival mode
>Complains about having to survive

stop waiting months and moths for shitjang to implement garbage content that was covered by mods years ago

enjoy the modding scene and make autism fortresses

It is monotonous and adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay. It's like making your character need to take a shit every 10 minutes, it is utterly pointless and not fun.

Maybe they want something between Survival and Creative, where they don't have to carry a stack of food around and keep an eye on an extra bar that depletes on its own, but they also aren't an immortal flying god

>Running on one of those huge platforms of Sand
>There's no telling whether or not it's supported underneath
>SUDDENLY: CREPPER TSSSSSS
>Start to get distance, he explodes

>tfw

When they haven't added any relevant content in years.

Oh, and one other thing.

Names, and line-of-sight, or rather the lack of.
It was the dumbest thing to go into a "PVP" server, only to find that people could see my name through terrain.

"But durrr, press shift 2 sneek"

Ya, except I'm already hidden in terrain.
Why the fuck would I need to sneak around inside a hidden base.

Oh ya, because Mojang were a bunch of chucklefucks before Chucklefuck was even a thing. ProtoChuckleFucks

When I learned you could see your coordinates by pressing F3. Before that it was a world you could explore and get lost in. I remember going out into the wilderness and thinking I was going to die on my way back with loot and burying my stuff in a chest under a giant letter G made of dirt. I inevitably died and was unable to find my way back to the chest. Years later and multiple server changes later while checking out the old server with an xray mod I found my chest. It was maybe 400 away from spawn. Back when the biomes were all smaller, but also samey (forest, planes, river, hills) you could run in a direction, turn around, and not even realize the path you took because the hills you passed over looked different from the other side.

When development slowed to a snail's pace. Most of the fun in Minecraft is Discovery and when there's nothing left for you to discover it gets stale

>be in high school around alpha/beta minecraft
>come home after school every day to play minecraft on friend's server overseas
>favorite thing to do in my life with a nice group of friends closer than anyone i ever had before
>look forward to it all day in school and plan what I would mine or build
>server slowly dies down and admin shuts it down eventually
>have a few of them on steam and conversation slowly dies down over time

Building with legos is only fun until you achieve your build as well.

I'd consider picking it back up if they added an easier way to create towns with actual living people in it outside of admin commands or building around villager homes. It's also boggling how building homes and castles is such a huge part of the game yet there hasn't been much of any furniture added in since 5 years ago or even longer.

But it seems that they're content to let it remain a lego builder game with some other elements added in to make it hard to get certain legos. They probably get enough new players every day to counteract the ones that leave because the core gameplay lacks depth.

When hunger was added and the worlds became boring

What did he do?

I think I started to get a bit bored with the adventure update or a few updates before when they nerfed the shit out of creepers and other shit

>Building with legos is only fun until you achieve your build as well.

That's why you gotta dream big. I decided one time to make myself an underwater minecart tunnel that went through a lake from one of my bases to a friend's

It gives you a reason to build farms for the animals and other food stuffs.

Yeah but then you can make a journal in game and write down coordinates and directions of things you explored and want to come back to. Also directions to towns and stuff, you can write it just like a journal.

When single player became server based.

The problem is you people play/build on shitty maps.

Come home to Broville the city built by Sup Forums for Sup Forums.

combat update, I still play 1.7 and will never update it.
Still keep 1 installation of 1.25 & another one for 1.4

When I got out of middle school, which was around when they added powered rails.

When I finally played Terraria

>get a minecraft server with a bunch of friends
>they all stop playing after getting all the end-game stuff
>I'm the only one that actually wants to build stuff
we've done 3 times already and it always ends the same

I thought like 75% of modern stopped updating and stayed in 1.7

Or give me a mining helmet with attached light.

Fuckin' this one, Terraria completely killed anything I found fun in Minecraft by virtue of treating the building and other construction as side-content rather than the complete main event

The first time I searched for recipes online.

This update. Just when they fixed the broken, and brainlet tier combat in the last updates. They fuck it up with hand tnt, mixed potions, etc.

no they jump to the new ones like every other update, and then like 25% of mods die off forever

When will they nerf the rate of fire of skeletons?
Also zombie nerf when? It's really a pain in the ass to get damaged every 0.5 sec
are they even zombies at this point or just a bunch of stands?
Might as well replace all of their sounds with "ora"s

after i played for a week got bored to death

thousands of retarded children are going to die over the next few weeks

How are the mods these days? Has anything absolutely amazing been added?

Realizing the no matter how much content you add to this thing, the game always revolves around the same things and you'll get bored shortly after you make a nice base

Just turn it off. I always do.

I had some of the most fun times with friends in minecraft back in 2011 and 2012. Found a server that got posted here on Sup Forums so I decided to check it out. Was loaded with autism at first, but after a few days the influx from the Sup Forums post died down til there were only a handful of players left. It was one of the nicest communities I've ever been apart of, and I'll always look back on it fondly. Unfortunately, the server ended up getting split in two after a huge fight between players, instigated by some chick that started banging the admin. Was a great ride til then though.

This is what always happens to me
>take ages to get mods up
>take ages to get a perfect world
>take ages to find a perfect spot
>build base
>quit

Haven't played the game in a long time and I'm looking through the version history, I can't fathom how slow and little development this game has. Is this supposed to be a billion dollars IP?

this thing is STILL being updated?

It stopped at v11 last year but yes it's updated.

Is this game even worth to be played alone? Thoughts on the W10 version?

Realizing it wasn't an RPG with meaningful dungeons and loot etc. The Aether mod had the right idea, and even vanilla itself with their own crevices and (empty)rng dungeons and the NPC villages, but even then it wasn't too meaningful. You can still do so much with minecraft it's unreal how little the devs actually have ever done in its history. I assume they're barely adding new flora and fauna under the sea besides squids? The coral reef and more creatures mods is beyond years old and combining stuff like that with RPG mods and new dimension mods with dungeons like Aether and refining all of that on a professional level from devs that make millions just goes to show how far from grace devs from all over the world began to fall in general after 2010.

Nope, unless you have a serious case of autism.
Or play with mods.

W10 is supposed to be technically better, but is behind in versions. Eventually might overtake the shitty Java version.

sums up my skyrim/oblivion experience in the same way

Noted, is the game worth its price tho?

What? that makes no sense, they added an entire new world and its bad? The nether is honestly great

This shit was when it became clear the game's development wasn't going to stay at the pace of secret friday updates.

see
Babysitting depleting meters is anti-fun. Food would be just as important and more fun as straight health items.

HOW WE FIX MINECRAFT?

You can do much worse for that money, but it all depends on you.

If you're playing solo on PC there is absolutely zero reason to use the W10 version. I think it's multiplayer-compatible with phone and console versions of Minecraft and that's the only real benefit to it over the Java version.

>Have a mighty powerful autism
>I can only play survival because I need to feel like I worked for shit
>Friends in a skype group make a server
>Join up, survival, good.
>Spend hours dredging out a huge mine in their town
>Log in the next day
>Creative
>Lol we just want to built stuff and create cool things man, it'll be fun!
>Wait till they all go to sleep, cover everyone's everything with a layer of dynamite and end it all before logging off and never getting back on

Such is my experience with minecraft communities, I love playing with people around, but I can't do it when no one else can stomache survival.
