Where does the myth that women are not represented in media come from exactly? They make it sound that there are no women on tv, in movies, on the news, in videogames etc. Its not true. And as for the sub demographic that Wizards appeal to, fat, virgin, unemployed autistis, they really are not very well represented. Its funny to lecture that group in particularly for being privileged in their representation when i can't really think of any group that is so often depicted in a negative light, and as such suffers from representation.

Anyway what is so toxic about this all is the way in which certain things are depicted as valuable and others as worthless. Anything that has a majority male or white players is called problematic. Where as anything with a majority female or people of color is praised. The same rules are always applied hypocritically and used to diminish peoples sense of self worth on the basis of things they cannot help, such as skin color, gender or sexual orientation. Ultimately it breeds resentment and helps no one.

To who is this message sent? To the idiotic people who inevitably warp every message you send their way, of course. I really don't think the masses even want any of your "positive messages", they don't believe in "representation" and they certainly don't think about or understand it, even if they vehemently want to crucify you for violating it (they only want spectacle and big theatrical outcomes, though even a little finger-pointing can get their rocks off).
The real world also doesn't agree with any of this moralizing "equal representation" garbage, over and over again you see whole swaths of people of different races amounting to almost nothing, over and over history demonstrates the secondary position of women whenever it comes to war, so on and so forth. The only warping here is trying to institute a smoothed-over, sterilized, white-washed sense of """reality""" through a fantasy card game.
If I'm an artist that wants to make a male-dominated fantasy world where women are all exchanged as sexual possessions, now I have to bear all of this idiotic criticism about sending the wrong messages to dysgendered subhuman fuckwits. I thought the point was to have a broad representation across the board, where one artist can create what they like while another one does the same in their own way, but apparently there's only one representation out there that isn't "problematic".
