Is this series worth getting into? I've never really played fighters, but dbfz has me wanting to learn, and practice more and more.

Is this game worth it in your opinion, Sup Forums?

if you own DBFZ stick to DBFZ.
If you are new to fightan games and want to find opponent of your skill (possibly even locally), get DBFZ.
if you like rock aesthetics, interesting characters (in personality and in movelist), and are motivated enough to seek out discords to get matches then get Guilty Gear. The skill ceiling is much higher, the game mechanics are MUCH deeper

So the online community isn't very active then?

Would you say the same for blazblue?

>auto send on captcha complete: on

Anyways, in GG you'll have to put in a lot more effort to learn match-ups and may find yourself being beaten and not knowing why you lost but don't get disheartened. There's a ton of resources out there for either game.
Be aware that the most recent iteration of the game is Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2, so don't screw yourself over expecting the game to be $8 when you have to upgrade.

Neither game will be as active as DBFZ is for a while. Not to say there isn't a scene, but you are going to have to look for them. Blazblue got its last update for the current title and a new one coming out relatively soon (BlazBluecross tag battle) so the hype has kinda died down.

I'm not super into those games but i can tell you a bit about them, and answer any other fighting game related questions if you got any.

Hmm, I thought my op was the most recent one. They're both not super expensive anyway right now ~$50

I was just looking for another cool fighting game like dbfz where I can chat and battle with people.

The unfortunate thing is that it's tough to find guys to take the time, and I'll easily find myself overwhelmed. Maybe just stick to story mode instead.

it's artificial difficulty and awful designs the game

the go to Sup Forums tryhard game because they heard it's hardcore

BB is an improvement in every way, but both games are dead in the west anyway

Ironically enough, the story mode in Guilty Gear has no actual fighting, its just hours of cutscenes with in game models.

i think if you go retail then yours is the most recent, just gotta pay $20 for the upgrade if you want to get on what people are currently on. If you're just checking it out you dont really need it.

Yes, it's a lot of fun. Get Rev 2 though, not Rev 1. I'm not very good at fighting games but I managed to get into GG with relative ease, there's some fairly accessible characters to get you started off with and while there are a lot of mechanics that will go right over your head, a lot of them are things you don't need to concern yourself with right out of the gate. It's not the end of the world if you can't manage the different wake-up timings for example, that stuff will come to you as you play if you stick with it, and the game is satisfying enough to learn and play at a basic level that I was able to stick with it despite being bad at it.

wait for EVO, they're bound to announce something like Rev 3 since they got GG on the mainstage sunday

So if I go rev 2 I'll get everything?

What is the extra stuff you're referring to?

Rev 2 added 2 new characters and added more onto the story mode.

2 new characters, overall balance changes and characters getting new moves, and some new training mode functions but i think thats mostly it. There's also some new chapters in story mode.

You may have to grind in game currency to get a couple older characters but it shouldn't really take too long. PSN store lists it as $20 right now

>artificial difficulty

Oh boy I really want to here this

But user was saying there's no real story mode. So it's just for the extra 2 characters?

It's only about $50 retail, so I'll scoop up rev 2. Pic related, yeah?

That's the one.

As far as battles no, you can just watch the whole thing on youtube. don't waste $30 my friend

instant block
tiny reversal window
different wakeup timings for every character and facing up or down
hard complicated combos (haehyun charge kick lmao)
mashing to get out of stun
different weights for different characters so different combos
tiny dash input window (walking is useless btw so all you do is dash)

god, you're why we continually get watered down games. god forbid the developers don't hold your hand at every second and want a bit of skill in their game.

no no no, that's "artificial difficulty" to all the cunts out there.

OP, if you do end up getting the game, I advise you join a discord for it. I think the one I joined was from Reddit since it has more people, you could also fish around the /vg/ threads for some matches since they actually play together unlike some other generals. GG is a really fun fighting game to play, but it may be a bit overwhelming at first. Here's a helpful playlist of videos that should help. The game has a pretty comprehensive tutorial, one of the better ones, along with Under Night in Birth Latest. youtube.com/watch?v=jNKMCOU9_Po&list=PLj34EySs1IeZ8GpjKW8R2T6dzI6B3GSuH

If you're ready to take the beating of your life, yeah

You realize BB is filled with a LOT more dumb character specific bullshit than GG is right? Did you only play storymode or something? That's not what artificial difficulty is you retard, you're just salty because as it turns out, better players with better understanding of the mechanics will win over worse players, that's like the opposite of artificial difficulty (which doesn't even make any fucking sense when it comes to multiplayer games)

PC PATCH FUCKING WHEN
Jesus Christ how long can it take to port it, there's not even a word of mention about the release date.

Thank you.

You guys aren't too bad.

Much more technical and mechanic heavy than DBFZ. It's a good step up if you want to get more into fighting games.

Damn, that's really tempting...but I hardly ever buy digital. Damn..I might pull the fuckin trigger on that.

just get the one in OPs pic it's only like $8 on amazon

That's an answer I was looking for. Thank you.

I'm loving dbfz, but I kind of want to branch out and see what else I can get in to.

Just do this.

It's a different kind of game. If you want some facts I'll tell you GG is a far more unique fighting game. Every character is really unique in some way while in DBZ Fighters it's a far more homogeneous type of game. GG Revelator 2 is not a popular game but the online system is way way way better than DBZ Fighters.

Oh no, gameplay inside MY games?
Isn't Haehyun kick loops easier to execute now after rev2 changes? You can also get very far without having to worry about most of these problems like optimal weight combos or situational non-corner safe jump timings for a few characters.

>balance potemkin based on FAB's powerlevel

It is easier, but the problem I have is that the input for it is really fucking annoying to do, especially for such an essential move. Hope the next entry reduces the complexity of certain inputs that have no real reason to be that difficult to execute, like they did with I-No's chemical love.

and another goober is born

>but the online system is way way way better than DBZ Fighters.
lmao. The (big) lobbies work so badly that no one uses them. No one uses matchmaking. Oh boy I hope there is one 8 player lobby in my region that isn't full but also happens to have a player near me at similar skill....and the host feels like leaving the lobby running for longer than 10 minutes

all the gameplay is training mode which is why there's only like 200 players on steam. I like the gameplay to be focused on playing the opponent.

BB is better designed in every way. Of course the goober would complain about the characters actually being unique and not all dash and mash into oki fireball over and over. You have to play your opponent instead of awful universal mechanics

and yeah a bunch of tight timings to do basic things is artificial difficulty sorry bud

>the state of modern boobers

huh, usually its the other way around

A lot of the old GG fanbase are too old to care about series wars anymore and the younger generation has no interest in Blazblue. It's just BB fans from 2009 still bitter about irrelevant things.

can only speak for pc but I haven't had trouble finding people to play with, but you might need to activly seek them out on discord or /ggg/ sometimes.

Ranked is dead though, as are the 64 player lobbies, everyone plays in player made lobbies.

It's a shame there's no story mode to warm you up with. You just have to jump right into fighting others or training.

Might have to go with BB instead. I don't see myself finding anyone willing to fight with/help a scrub out in GG. Damn.

There's a mission mode with in-depth tutorials covering every mechanic plus specific matchup details and an arcade mode if you just wanna beat up on CPUs. As far as fighting game tutorials go it really doesn't get much better than Xrd.

I don't like Xrd, feels too sluggish and I detest the new roman cancels, but if you want to play it to get into GG, go ahead.
XXAC+R is the better game however.

its a great game as long as you dont mind the fact that theres a small population. so youll play the same few people over and over for a few hours, then the next day you might get some new rooms, or you can go on discord or /vg/ to ask for games and stuff. it really is an amazing game and so is blazblue.

>good mechanic
>dude wake up shoryu ultra lmao
>Fair
>you just suck
>every fighting game with stun has that, retard
>3S did it too, I think Tekken too
>wut
You have to be retarded, there's no other way that anybody can be this fucking dumb

Hmm, I suppose I could do a combination of what you and said. I don't mind playing the same people. I'm just afraid I'll get fucking washed and then drop the game cause I've got no clue where to go or what to do.

Getting it so I can get into GG is the idea, yeah.

Xxac+r?

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R is the final update to the XX series, predecessor to Xrd. Roman cancels are done in real time without slowing the game down, dusts function vastly different, had EX moves like Street Fighter called force breaks, very well balanced, ultimately is the best game in the franchise. Real cheap on Steam as well as on 360/PS3 and Vita.

>Is this game worth it in your opinion, Sup Forums?
yes ^^

this may be true but no one plays it
just get xrd, it's not +R but it's still great

3S doesn't have character weights, the characters just have slightly different hurtboxes when they're in a juggle state.

Oh they don't? I remembered seeing that years ago, but that makes sense. Damn, 3S just keeps on giving

i mean its the same thing. tekken doesnt have weights, just sizes of hurtboxes. You have to change your combo depending of a specific class of character.

worth noting that at least on steam the netcode is kinda shit

I-I still love both.

Do NOT ask Sup Forums about fighting games.
I've never met anyone of relevant skill on here, they're literally bronze-tier when it comes to them.

Similar effect yeah. The older GG games had different weights and different juggle hurtboxes, but they nixed the hurtboxes going into Xrd.

Part of me misses it because you had a different optimal combo against every character in the game. They didn't want Xrd to be as much of a time sink though.

Yeah, like in Tekken 6 Asuka could do her d/b 4,3 after a F2 and then banto oroshi on Jack, worked on no one else
Yeah it's utter trash, hell MK9's was better, and that was awful

I've met some knowledgeable people here but you also get a lot of people that shitpost for the lels.

Holy fuckin christ you have terrible opinions about things. How do you wake up every morning and not swallow a bullet?

ok so your argument for "artificial difficulty" is "shit i'm too handicapped to do consistently"

this isn't true at all and you clearly don't play the game

Which game are we talking about? I've played both heavily and it's absolutely true. I can even give examples.

Me too. But that's probably everywhere you go.

Sup Forums doesn't like fighting games so you're going to hear no from everyone.
Just don't even try to get into this sinking ship of a genre.

I know of a lot of people that started a fighting game on Sup Forums and now attend locals and tournaments.

>BIG BOOBIES RONIN GIRL HAHA
brainless wojak gamer.jpg

who are you quoting?

I suck at fighting games and I love it. Never played online though but I feel like if I tried it would be too dead. I still think it is fun.

GGXrd is far more difficult then DBFZ but not too bad if you stick to characters like Sol Ky Potemkin to begin and learn the mechanics and just go with the flow.

Its hard though you'll find most players even mediocre ones looking like gods until you learn the nuances and start exposing their flawed neutral or lack of defense.

Everyone is mediocre at GG outside of Japan
