Why aren't you playing Etrian Odyssey right now?
Why aren't you playing Etrian Odyssey right now?
The MiA thread earlier got me interested. Should I start with the remakes or play the original I & II?
Because you haven't convinced me that it's fun yet
just bought 4 games. maybe next month or if i finish up all 4 before next month. she's making it look pretty tempting though
Goddamn, look at that flat (read: child's chest).
>you will never lick smug fortress
Because my recent time trying 4 I wound up making a ton of characters early on.
too busy writing music
Waiting for the new game reveal. Also completed V 100% so I'm burnt out.
I couldn't beat the final boss of V so i quit
EO is fucking boring and not fun.
I don't want to fight Ur-Devil again.
The premise of having a loli team sounds interesting, but I'm a shit at RPG games.
Because I don't like EOV. Got bored on 3rd stratum.
friggin burned myself out trying to rush through EOU and now I'm putting V on hold while i play some more actiony games like bloodborne and hollow knight. I'll probably pick it up again some time later.
Post more lolis in skintight suits.
Because I'm masturbating to Etrian Odyssey right now.
start with either the remake of one on classic mode or 4
5 sucks and im too pampered by the 3ds games to play 3
I got burned out at the same spot. I actually loved IV though, guess I'm some sort of casual.
doing a replay of Ocarina of Time 3D, then back to Etrian lolis.
i visit you often enough on sadpanda anyhow
Because the last Labyrinth in IV is so easy that it's boring.
I am, clearing conditionals and quests before the alignment choice in 3. I forgot how hilariously stupid splitting Hoplites and Ninja/Zodiac batteries are, the only weakness it has is it takes one turn to set up
3 is also a good starting place as it's the least polished entry to not have a remake and is also a fan favorite.
But you have the Den of Despair to look forward to after that.
I've played them all and I don't feel like replaying any of them right now
>EO2U f25
>don't have enough damage to kill two satellites fast
>don't have high level elemental shield grimoires so the protector can't slam his shield every single turn
>don't feel like grinding
grimoire system sucks
gunner also a shit
...
you're nothing more than a bind bitch for my dh
second dh would be 100% more useful
Currently playing through IV, it's pretty fun, even though I feel like I'm progressing t a snail's pace.
My first one ws Unold but I got bored by the story mode, I should play it again, classic style.
How good is V ?
enjoy you're ban
Cuz I can't decide on my party for V, i'm so fucking indecisive.
I just beat V's story boss and I'm taking my time before I start the postgame.
nice one user, see ya after your vacation
Are cheese comps possible in EO games? I haven't played one before but I started Persona Q recently so I am curious
>EOV
>party's Lv. 85
>already fully explored the entire labyrinth
>only thing left to do is kill and get conditionals for Prosperous Gel, Lamia, and Star Devourer
>getting bored of grinding Mounting Horrors
send help
convinced me to finish this game?
>that sweat panel on pg 2
Yes, but it's not as easily cheesable as Q.
Fuck I just realized the nipple.
Whelp enjoy I guess.
Please tell more about EOV
i feel like im getting my ass kicked and i just started
im doing generic, bog standard RPG tactics, why am i dying so fast?
Because I tried Persona Q and it was garbage tier
Because I'm playing Dragon Quest III instead. Less grinding and more exploration.
The first few floors are always the hardest since you have jack shit for equipment and skills.
I had fun with EOV
Classes are all pretty fun
Dungeon events are handled well
They finally fixed summons
The 3rd Stratum has god-tier atmosphere
Buuuut the story is pretty shit, and it feels like they tried to tape two separate stories together (the Final Boss is a complete non-entity in the story)
So I'd say it's good, but it's not one of the best
>generic, bog standard RPG tactics
EO punishes those who forget to use binds and status effects, besides the very beginning is the hardest part as you have almost no skills or equipment for your party to actually use.
ok, so its that BS of "no money and skills" bullshit
i know of binds and buffs etc etc its just almost zero fucking games use them or let you use them without making them useless.
I despise EO2U. When you have to cheese bosses because they kill your entire party with one attack, cause AOE ailments, AOE triple binds or all of those at the same time, you know they tried way too hard to make it challenging and instead made it incredibly frustrating. Fuck cores and fuck Ur-Child, most unfun boss I have ever fought against.
Which ones are the best in your opinion ?
>slaps your party's ass
What's good about EO is that all monsters are affected by binds and ailments, including bosses and FOEs. Classes like Hexer or Arcanist are incredibly good in these games.
All I remember is I hate that growing yellow bitch.
I personally like EO4 and EO2U the most, but I recognize that the former is pretty easy while the latter's difficulty curve is retarded
I'd like EOU more if its Grimoire system wasn't pants-on-head retarded, and EO3 more if half of its classes weren't gimmicky and/or useless
...
>.
Because Eo5 does not speak to me. I cant get fucking into it. Level 32ish now and on some floor where I have to gather Dragoon armor for the kidking in town
The first game I fucking loved and played through 3-4 times
The second game was pretty fucking neato and got 3 run throughs
The third game still gets a yearly replay on NG+ and currently working on a A/G, H/N, A/G - M/P, N/Z just blowing shit the fuck up because of how broken level 1 barrages are with damn near infinite row guards and arbalist blasts because of the ninja
The fourth game was pretty cool but I burnt my own ass out replaying it so much. I left my B/Dx3 - M/L, RM/B somewhere mid strat 4
And the fucking untold games got replayed so fucking much I cant even
Here comes EO5, feeling and looking worse than all the other games. I actually went back and replayed eo2u and loved it and picked this up again and fuck it, I just fucking cant.
and mainly the news of no more EO games ever kinda killed my adventurous spirit.
>Trivializes encounters
i cant beat the final boss of V so im just taking a break.
>news of no more EO games ever kinda killed my adventurous spirit
We're getting one more on 3DS, nerd.
Because I'm on my sixth replay of EO4 and the earlygame is really boring until you hit level 20 and get the intermediate skills. I love the subclassing, but generally prefer the skill trees of the other games.
It's not a mainline series title or untold, plus it's gonna have so much mapping that you'll be sick of it, probably because it's the last of its kind. I really hope they show something already in March
And because of their words of something along the lines of "there will be mapping, so much you might get sick of it" leads me to believe we are going to get Etrian Odyssey Builders.
Its not EO6, its not EO3U.. I just.. no man. no.
i heard rumors of a game on the switch. i dont know if its true...i hope it is..
Go on, Origin Rune me and my buddies, see what happens
It's not really my style of game, not a pure adventurer type. Though I like the dungeons and combat.
Just swipe slash them on a high LUC character.
>dungeon rpg is forever
>etrian odyssey builders
>the torch is passed to us
>long after miiverse is shut down
etrian switch when
Because the EO game I have doesn't have delicious ranma monk
Because I already played 1-5 and I beat Star Devourer weeks ago.
Here's my copypasta review of 5 in case anybody cares:
It was fine but my main complaints are the dungeons got kind of bland after a while and I thought the series took a step back by completely removing all the overworld stuff instead of trying to polish it further and make it more fun; if the dungeons were commensurately better then I wouldn't have a problem but they really weren't very inspired.
I get that subclassing was pretty unbalanced in 3 & 4 but it would've been nice to have an option to have a subclass with only the base skills available instead of being locked into master classes only.
Also other things like most of the game not being very challenging even with a not very optimal party and minimal grinding beyond getting enough materials to make new gear, I wasn't really a fan of most of the FOEs/bosses or a number of regular mobs because they tended to be either bland or have cheap bullshit, forging equipment was bland as fuck and dumbed down really hard from EO4, etc; I did think the racial skills were a good touch mostly though.
I still played it enough to beat Star Devourer though so I didn't hate it, but I thought there could've been a bunch of improvements.
>Buuuut the story is pretty shit, and it feels like they tried to tape two separate stories together
Also the localisation butchered the story hard and added in plot inconsistencies. The fucking stupidest part is when Arken calls EOV's world Earth when literally when you boot up the game the opening shows you a map of Mars.
Etrian Odyssey mixed with city builder when
There is something so romantic almost about the idea of arriving at some unexplored area and having to not only explore but also build. I would have loved for example if that was part of MonHun World but the entire encampment was already built when you arrived so I was sorely disappointed.
I realized after posting that I'm basically envisioning Dwarf Fortress with more RPG aspects
i absolutely love this plan.
that was a map of mars?!
Good question. I played and beat Etrian Odyssey 4, it was my first entry in the series. I decided that I didn't enjoy the difficulty and constantly getting gameover'd. Nor did I enjoy being fearful of everything and frequently leaving a dungeon to go save and heal up. It was too punishing and I imagine this was an easier entry, too.
That said, it was fun.
I'd much rather etrian odyssey x heroes
City building + hero management + exploration
What is the best EO class and why is it Dancer?
I don't know what 'Heroes' is referring to can you elaborate?
>Stunlocking all the bosses to death
>Buffing Healers are almost always top-tier by endgame
>Cute
That's why
They removed a line that literally said the planet used to be red from the 5th stratum
Yes. Next time if you boot up EOV look at the map from the opening, all the areas are names of locations of Mars and they all correspond to an IRL map of Mars.
The humans are from Melas and the Brouni are from the Chryse Planitia, locations on Mars.
Gomen gomen, meant Majesty.
It's a city builder where you construct heroes and send them on quests, setting different bounties and such
oh fuck.that actually blows my fuckin mind.
btw..fav stantrum.. i still cant choose
One of the things the localisation messed up.
The Japanese line was something like "the red planet was barren before the tree gave it life", the English version just says something like "the planet was bountiful because of the tree"
Ahh, that sounds pretty interesting and yes I think I would agree with you that throwing something to that effect into the mix would be interesting.
Maybe I'll take a look at it after I finish my current project.
>passive healing
>passive refresh
>passive 40% damage reduction
>beat dance
>stunlock
>synergises well as a subclass on just about everything
I also don't like making my own maps because I go full autist on it. It feels good after, looking at the fully mapped out dungeon but it further slows down my gameplay.
Current project, eh? Why don't ya tell ol uncle user what you're up to?
I think the EO games have a very particular gameplay loop that isn't for everyone, no shame in that
In short, an SRPG based entirely on expanding the Judge/law system from FFTA
thats bullshit. now i appreciate it alot more since i love astrology.
I kind of agree with this, and I'm sure this will be shit on. IV hit the perfect sweet spot between 'harder than DQ' and 'literally metagaming everything'. I feel like the other EOs are more of the latter.
Every EO game corresponds to an IRL location.
im crying....this makes me so damn happy. thank you user i appreciate this series so much more now
>EOU1 Ontario
How did I miss this
Now for the big question; is EO4 Mars as well?
It being located in Tharsis suggests that, but on the other hand, it shares a majority of its fauna with EO1-3.
EO IV is a weird case because not only is the area called Tharsis, it even has all the frozen mountains which resemble the Tharsis Montes and the huge mountains resembling the Olympus Mons. But at the same time, like you said the world has tons of similarities to EO 1-3.
The user that made the map said that there wasn't enough conclusive evidence for EO IV's location.
The remakes are honestly just better and I started with the original EO1 at release.
But I'm so casual I haven't even hit floor 9 in 11 yet.
I ragequit EO2 on the second to last strata like 8 years ago and never came back. I finished EO1 though.
I ragequit EO2 when I realized you didn't get FOE xp.
What's an OP starting part for EOV?
I was angry at first as well but that gave me incentive to dodge them
You know. The longer I stay in this thread the more I get an itch to play another EO game even if It's suffering to play it.
