Are lazy meta twists the key to success?
Are lazy meta twists the key to success?
If you can surprise people by it. Novelty sells.
cute girls are the key to success
both tbqh
Grant Morrison did this shit first
Isn't the creator a twat?
monika has pretty breasts
i like breasts
Yuri > all
it being free likely helped
...
Is OP being a fag the secret to threads that don’t die quick?
Half of DDLC's success also comes from the artwork.
Money is de whey to the internet fame, brudah.
Does it really count as a twist when Monika outright says you should have known the whole time?
Monika is quite lovely.
One artist alone can elevate a game from completely niche to an award winner.
Monika has fanart everywhere while the Celeste protag has next to none.
That's probably because Monika is beautiful and a literal meme
How the fuck was it lazy? Lazy would be the characters doing nothing more but saying "oh yeah this is a video game btw".
Lazy isn't making the game glitch out, adding interactivity with the game files, adding extra txt files in during the game, and changing shit when you mess with the game files further (to an extent)
Agreed.

I think the key is having a cute little gremlin that writes the best poems.
Absolutely. Meta shit is the easy route to making retards feel smart which is a surefire way to success. You don't have to actually say anything meaningful, just make your story about the medium it's a part of, or about stories themselves, and the fucking pseudo-intellectuals will crawl out of the woodwork to offer their interpretations of it.
It's not impossible to write good meta-fiction but generally it's just trash pretending to be deep.
Morrison's a hack.
Just because pseudos offer their pseudointellectual interpretations of a game doesn’t mean the game was trying to be deep or intellectual in the first place
Why pretend your game has something to say on the nature of games/fiction if you're not trying to say something interesting? Meta shit doesn't have any merits without an interesting message to go with it, it's only worthwhile if you have something genuine to say or you're trying to pander to retards. Most choose the latter route.
don't talk shit 'bout my husbaldo
There's like two worthwhile issues of All Star Superman, a couple good Animal Man issues, The Filth has its moments, and his JLA run was alright when he was just having fun and not being pretentious. Most of his work is fucking abysmal, particularly his run on Batman.
Fuck comic books anyway, glad I excised them from my life. I'll miss a few of the writers/artists/cartoonists I was a fan of but it was worth it. Comic culture and knowledge about comics just makes you miserable.
Yes
Natsuki is best you dumb fuck.
No, but being a decent free game/VN is. Also helps that it has cute girls and Natsuki.
Yes since it's taking advantage of the fact that most people didn't read the text, downloaded it from steam or just didn't connect it as the character breaking the 4th wall
Key to success is doing any generic cliche like that cause kids and IM A GAMER crowds will eat it up
>DDLC
>danganronpa
>umineko
Yeah, and people laud this kind of shit as amazing writing.
Umineko at least has a great soundtrack to fall back on.
Yes, pretty much. The artstyle is also important, but in the case of DDLC, the character design could have been MUCH better.
