Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?

Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?
Why do these fags act all cheery and like they're on vacation when all their friends and families have been slaughtered and their homeland destroyed some days ago?
How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?
Why is this game so shit?

Attached: ffxv%20sal%20pane%20main%202.jpg (633x356, 39K)

It was never really finished so apparently the Royal version is the complete version that was supposed to release at launch.

Just turn off your brain dude lol
Bros roadtrip xD

>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?

This bothers me too. This can fly in old games since they're very video-gamey, and there's a big distinction between setting/story. Now you have these very realistic looking worlds but they still play the same, and all it does is draw attention to how their universe makes no sense.

because the game is a clusterfuck of ideas and gameplay mechanics by the old nip who knows nothing about video games design

they should added military settlement and random battles between them
i feel stupid again that i bothered paying for the game

>Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?
the empire just wanted the crystal and got the fuck out

and if you finished the game, you'll know that some shit is going with the empire itself

also in the end you actually do see Lucis being fucked up

>Why do these fags act all cheery and like they're on vacation when all their friends and families have been slaughtered and their homeland destroyed some days ago?

they gotta be optimistic in order to push on their journey

gladio actually gives noctis shit for being gloomy

>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?

that's why there is the Hunter's Guild. People hire them if they want to get rid of monsters

>Why is this game so shit?

that's your subjective opinion and I can respect that

The big bright lamps that shine on every city drive away daemons. That's the in canon reason anyway.

Also pretty sure only the main city is occupied, with everywhere else just surrendering because enemy bases are set up all around them.

Because it’s a bad game.

I thought Sup Forums don't like emos?

>gladio actually gives noctis shit for being gloomy
He actually goes "Being blind is totally worse than losing everyone you love, get over it lmao" a couple of days after the love of his life died. Apparently giving a shit wasn't kingly. Although from the player perspective Gladio has a point because the Noctis Luna relationship was as shallow as they come.

That's the issue with this game. It's just several different pieces of a game made in isolation and then thrown together at the last moment with no care for cohesion, so they made a map without really considering what it'd look like to have an occupation going on. None of these issues are hard to solve, but they either didn't think hard enough about conveying them visually or they specifically chose not to in order to save time.

Cause its mostly wildlands with only very small communities outside the main cities?

The crown city, Insomnia, is like a super metropolis where the whole kingdom is run from. The territories you travel through on the way to Altissia are rural and wild lands just one step above bumfuck nowhere. Besides, the empire's presence is quite large in these territories all things considering. They have massive bases scattered throughout Lucis, and dreadnoughts flying over ready to drop infantry anywhere in the kingdom. After you leave Altissia you see the Empire's presence increase even further, like at the train level.

>Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?

King´s magic shield/ force field

>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?

Again. King´s magic shield till Lucis died kept the monsters out. Once he dies no idea though...

>Why is this game so shit?

Uff, i don´t know where to begin... i don´t want to wall of text with stuff we already discussed a thousand times before.

>Noctis Luna relationship was as shallow as they come.
It's even less than shallow - it was non-existent. You're just told these two are madly in love and destined to be with each other, but not only do they not interact outside of a flashback there's zero chemistry between them.

>Why is this game so shit?
Dunno, sucks for you because I'm enjoying the fuck out of it.
Funny but true, you're playing video games not high art. You all enjoyed games more when you were younger because you could appreciate simplicity, mostly because you were simple minded.

>Funny but true
Something being enjoyable and stimulating isn't impossible, or even all that hard. They're not mutually exclusive traits. You can also have simple worlds that make sense for what they are.

Rayman Legends is an example of this, the world doesn't contradict itself, it's simple, it's fun. You don't need to turn your brain off because it doesn't flood itself with stupid mistakes.

>Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?
Because the war has been effectively over for decades. Niflheim pretty much rules everything except Insomnia, but they're mostly hands-off with these remote territories, so people just take care of themselves. Insomnia falling was just the final gasp of that conflict.
>Why do these fags act all cheery and like they're on vacation when all their friends and families have been slaughtered and their homeland destroyed some days ago?
They have to keep going somehow. They're pretty big on pretending everything is fine. That said, things do get more gloomy and tense with time.
>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?
There's a whole hunter association specialising on dealing with regular monsters. As for the daemons, strong lighting generally keeps them away from the settlements.

Actually, I have just one question. Why does Luna have the goddamn ring? Didn't the King have it at first?

Why didn't he just give it to Noctis?

wow niggers please go watch Kings Glaive and brotherhood and all the trailers with cut content

If it was that important to the game's coherence then they shouldn't have cut it out to sell as different products.

watch the film

Ludonarrative Dissonance: The Official Final Fantasy Video Game.

Please be excited.

I keep forgetting that the game takes place across an entire continent, the open world structure actually makes the world of XV seem pretty small.

>all it does is draw attention to how their universe makes no sense.
this :(

>Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?
Because there's not much of value for the Empire outside of Insomnia, so they don't pay much attention and don't have a garrison anywhere. They're just looking for Noctis.
>Why do these fags act all cheery and like they're on vacation when all their friends and families have been slaughtered and their homeland destroyed some days ago?
They're their own best friends. Noct and Gladio's relationships with their fathers probably weren't terribly close because of royal duties
>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?
Most of the daytime 'monsters' are just regular animals that only attack something that threatens them (the herd animals), or looks vulnerable (the predators). At night, the lights at all the settlements keep the demonic monsters away.
>Why is this game so shit?
A number of reasons, primarily that it still isn't even finished.

the game is clearly a mess.

go play FF9, the tone is always right for whatevers particularly happening in the plot, then play this, the tone is fucking insane.

making the dour ending all that much more jarring, really.

the game actually has cutscenes of them being childhood friends

also the point is the emotional impact of journeying to your loved one and then have her die immediately

When Final Fantasy XII changed directors, the series died.

>the game actually has cutscenes of them being childhood friends
Which means that from the player perspective, this is all you know of their history, there isn't even a cutscene of them being 15 and sneaking around trying to get alone time which would show romance, they were friends once, then have an arranged marriage, but she died. It's hardly a Greek tragedy.

I can't remember, but it was probably in the shitty movie.

>and if you finished the game, you'll know that some shit is going with the empire itself
Another user here. What is happening with the empire?
I can't play the game because my PC is shit and I can't afford a console.

They're effectively a puppet state for the big bad, who by the end has turned most of the higher ups who remained human into half demons. The soldiers themselves as half demons the whole time.

Thank you.
What about the population of the empire?

Never really explained.

Dude drive

Thank you very much.

Idk but the game is really good and fun if you can look past it's flaws. I think it was a much needed refresher for the series.

If you play FF games looking for a fulfilling story then you must have hated 3/4 of the games they've put out.

People aren't really looking for a story that'll stand the test of time, just one that stands the test of the moment.

>Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?

Because the villains only want the city of Insomnia and nothing else. They have nothing to fear from deserted lands and small settlements.

>Why do these fags act all cheery and like they're on vacation when all their friends and families have been slaughtered and their homeland destroyed some days ago?

Because asides from Noctis, the other three are orphans.

>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?

It's almost like the country had a capital city that housed the majority of those people in the context of the story that was just recently overthrown in a coup.

>Why is this game so shit?

Because you're just bad at it.

But that´s wrong... you shouldn´t need to watch every piece of media to get what´s going on or to be able to enjoy a game. All the important stuff regarding your main character should be self contained on the game, no DLC/ movie/ anime required. That should be additional content if you want to expand on the universe. I´ve seen kings glaive, it was boring as hell with an uninteresting MC. I tried to watch the anime too but i drew the line there. It was fucking nothing.

If it´s not in the game it´s not in the game. Period. I don´t care if it´s SE, Disney or Marvel doing it. It´s fucking lazy or deficient in therms of narrative because by making al pieces of media co-dependant if you fail to engage with one or one lacks quality then the whole thing is compromised... and yes, i realize there are flashbacks and whatnot to highlight the relationship but it´s not the same as interacting in game. Even Squall and Rinoa where better written as a couple. She was obnoxius as hell but at least she was there.

>All the important stuff regarding your main character should be self contained on the game
the whole point of 15 is that they didn't want to flood the game with back story drivel when they can give you the information in a form that is short and concise.

More and more developers have been doing it in recent years, with comics, books and other shit. The answers are there, and you are even luckier since people have also spoon fed you the answers in this thread. If you don't like it don't buy or play the game.

The west is full of hacks too, OP.

>Why is the enitre Lucis continent so peaceful and under no occupation if they're at war?

Because lucis lost their land over 10 years before the main story, they hid behind their walls while the empire annexed the region aside from the capital due to the magic shield.

Its been over 10 years since the kingdom of lucis was invaded and annexed, only the capital being left. Even when you hit altissa the leader makes a comment how none is able to match the empires army and thus they let themselves get peacefully occupied.
Its like the Scandinavian countries in world war 2.

>Why do these fags act all cheery and like they're on vacation when all their friends and families have been slaughtered and their homeland destroyed some days ago?

Noct was being a cry baby, prompto got no family, god knows about ignis and gladios family has always been the kingsguard, he very well knew what it meant and so didnt give a flying fuck about his family dying, at east he got his sister.

>How does anyone that doesn't have magic weapons and teleportation bullshit even survive in this world when there are these huge monsters ten feet outside every small settlement?

They only appear in where theres darkness, dont want them on your property get huge ass lights. Also theres the camping spots with magical ingravings that also prevents them from spawning.

>Why is this game so shit?

Its not, its actually good, be mad console beta testers.

>the other three are orphans.

Nope. This is Gladio's and Iris' father Clarus Amicitia. He was shown in the movie and was killed.

Attached: Clarus.jpg (801x615, 92K)

They left a lot of plotholes open for DLC purposes and they have a lot of things that's didn't make sense until chapter 13 the game was super comfy but after that it went all downhill felt rushed as fuck

You need the DLC, the movies, the anime and then trailers to fill in most relationships and that kind of things they cut it out of the game.

How in the fuck do I make Noctard attack the turtle. I get like a few piddly warp strikes in but hitting the regular attack button does fucking nothing because the AI can't path for something this huge. So all we do is just kinda stare at each other while epic music plays.

Attached: 18plrffdugl46jpg.jpg (259x286, 21K)

most are assumed turned into daemons

it's explained in one of the "optional" documents you find that there is an epidemic going on

it's a Japanese meme that muh childhood friend is the destined one

Wait, is Ignis canon gay? Just got to the trip to Altissia and Prompto seemed to kinda imply it.

It's actually pretty realistic, kids have been brainwashed with Star Wars hollywood bullshit & think when a previous ruler/government etc gets over thrown & replaced by another, then everyone takes up arms & fights the "Empire" or whatever

Most average people don't give a shit because it doesn't affect them, the Empire didn't go into the towns/cities & start shooting everyone up until later on with Atliissa, that's when people start to care

>no mod to turn them all into qt's
why

If Regis gave Noctis the ring at first, Noctis would then assume that it meant Regis was going to die soon. He probably would have refused to leave Insomnia if that happened. He needed to assure Noct was out of the city before the signing ceremony.

Luna has the ring because Regis gave it to her as he was about to die, to pass onto Noctis. She gets extremely lucky as one of the Kingsglaive, Nyx, is able to use the ring to fend off the imperials and allow her to escape the city.

Because they are already qts OwO

>the Empire didn't go into the towns/cities & start shooting everyone up until later on with Atliissa
That's literally what happened to Insomnia at the beginning of the game.

>fag

Attached: 1497112762956.jpg (399x384, 19K)

It didn't affect anyone else because Insomnia was isolationist & literally locked off from the rest of the world

also the whole pilgrim of obtaining the royal arms and rings was kinda a last resort as it kills noctis in the end

so Regis obviously didn't want to use that hand until the empire forced it

Considering his Valentine photo was with Ravus, who has a big little sister complex, with some text about not losing sight of those who matter to you; as well as the fact the Gladio - Cor thing was played for laughs, Ignis is pretty much gay for Noctis or brainwashed by the Royal line of Lucis to be absolutely drpendent and devoted to him.

Ravus has too much affection for his Mary Sue sister.

Everyone was pretty upset because it was reported that Luna the oracle was killed in the process, she's the only one who can cure the scourge so a LOT of people were effected by it.

>They have a father who died
So they're orphans now. Iris is only 15.

This pissed me off so fucking much. In the end, the story is just: "Do what you are told in the prophecy, nobody cares what you want to do." Noctis has absolutely no drive or motivation to become king and save the world for 90% of the game and neither did I. Like, even if the story, as it is now, was well told and well paced, it would still be just a boring fucking story.

Does nobody drive around at night? I think I remember Cindy telling the group that the headlights they found were rare and those headlights kept the monsters away at night.

Attached: Tsu.jpg (818x1170, 315K)

Better question, why are there only two proper settlements on the entire continent? Besides Insomnia and Lestallum, you have a chocobo ranch, a few forts, and a bunch of gas stations and motels.

well, most people don't. I think Cidney actually mentions there are some people who risk it and she personally saw someone die that way

My question is why are headlights designed in the city 10 years ago, and regarded as the best, not installed on the best car from the city. In fact a bunch of the upgrades are "This shit is good because it's from Insomnia" which begs the question as to why they weren't pre-installed on the Regalia, especially since Regis knew what was coming.

to begin with, Lucis was kinda the last bastion anyways because the empire has pretty much taken over the world and it was only the wall keeping them out.

I imagine the population not being that huge since they don't even have an army

It's mostly gas stations. That whole world is full of gas stations.

>that ending campfire scene

Attached: 1520861587960.gif (500x281, 1.23M)

I've only played/finished the original launch of the game. What has been changed post chapter 13 since back then?

They mention in the game that most people choose to live in Insomnia. A few outdoorsy, survivalist types want to make a go of it in the wilds. Lucis is essentially all frontier-country with pockets of civilization and abandoned industrial compounds.

They also get fuel from an invisible refinery, and live in the hotels because there isn't any other instructor to house people except for the one town.

>being bad at ff15
is this possible

And even if you watch all the additional content they still don't have aby sort of chemistry.

FF series tend to force romance and love triangles for the sake of drama but it barely works that way.

It would have been a billion times better if Luna's brief description of suffering in Shiva's flashback wasn't watered by all muh romance.

It would have been seven billions time better if at the end instead of seeing those two kiss, you got to see an empty throne, hear Regis' speech and realize all you did was to be guided to fulfill Ardyn's ultimate goal.

What was up with that Naga that wanted her child back? Did they ever explain that or was it just some random thing?

> They won´t put the important story stuff to make room for useless fetch quests and to try to force people to consume every other product.

Games that are like that are crap story telling. It´s not about answers exisiting or not, you can find anything on the web and have access to the aditional information. It´s about story telling. Those things should be on the game and i should be able to learn and experience them in game because they are part of the story they are telling/ solding.

If it´s not there then they should take the criticism because they porpusly did not include that shit to bait people into buying aditional products. If that backfires it´s their own fault.

No wonder XV is regarded as a shit tier incomplete story.

but it wasn't 100% romantic though

it was also about some pre-destined bullshit of Luna sacrificing her life for Noctis because she was the oracle. It's implied she would've died anyways whether she's stabbed or not.

uh yeah I think there was some document on the ground explaining it referring to some legend, but I can't recall right now

How old is Noctis in the game? If they were destined to be together, why wait so long to get married?

>If it´s not there then they should take the criticism
they did
>did not include that shit to bait people into buying aditional products
no shit
>If that backfires it´s their own fault.
it didn't ff15 is a success comercially and with fans

its not considered great, but people who have actually played it and have an attention span know it is better then any of the tripe in 13 or 12

a fucking war

Wasn't a war happening when they finally decided to get married?

LGBT needs games too. This time they happened to get a """"Final Fantasy""""" game

>Better than 13 is a mark of quality

The marriage was to stop the war, DID YOU PLAY THE GAME?!

The force field only went over Insomnia though, not the whole continent.

There was a truce offered by the Empire that Regis was forced to accept since he was losing the war. One of the conditions was to allow them to marry so he tried to get them married on neutral territory but the capital fell the day after the crew left for Altissa.

Was this in the game? I haven't played it since it first came out a year ago. All I remember is them sending love letters to each other with a magic dog.

>have a heartfelt moment with Prompto where he admits to feeling like a loser and not worthy of being by Noct's side
>continues to be the butt of every single joke in the game
Gee, that's some positive messaging you got there, Squeenix.

Attached: 1407141608950.jpg (1280x1707, 451K)

so you haven't played the game. you played the fucking demo and you are complaining about not understanding the story

Attached: 1376088631339.png (206x237, 4K)

It was unfortunately a part of the plot in the movie but I believe the banter between the bros alludes to it during the game. A lot of the backstory to the game is shared between them just talking to each other while wandering around.

Go have sex with a meat grinder.

>45 hours in
>still on chapter 8
>have only a few end-game side-quests left, such as finding rainbow frogs, completing the hell-tower for the last optional royal arm, and the very last fishing quest that I can't even do because I need a better rod

I've ruined the last few chapters, haven't I?

Attached: 1515591418873.png (520x369, 15K)

good friends rip on each other all the time, but I guess you wouldn't know

Just once I'd like to see the technologically advanced civilization be the good guys and the magic wielding fuckwads being the ones who's sucking the Lifeforce or something out of the earth by using magic as a toy. Protagonist could just be a mage killer or maybe someone born as a savage but educated about the proper uses of magic so only deigns to use debuff magic like Poison/Slow that draws on the life force of the target/themselves rather than magic that just creates swathes of fire and ice.

Fishing is comfy as fuck in the game but once it settles in that the open world is all you're gonna get and it took years for them to make this game, it's hard not to be a little disappointed.

you aren't even the same person so why post?

I don't rip on a friend who I know has a self-esteem problem. Because I'm not a shitty friend.

Even if it is explained in the game that they were supposed to be married due to the peace treaty, it is definitely NOT explained why that was even part of the peace treaty to begin with.
His entire backstory is that he was fat. I kinda can't believe it myself.
Everything after chapter 8 is complete garbage no matter what level you are, so not really.
