Red Dead was kino because it was a love letter to Westerns. It had an overwhelmingly nostalgic theme to it, because it deals with the end phase of the Wild West.
I wouldn't want them to try to recreate that, and clearly they aren't, because it's a prequel set in the middle of the Wild West days. All the magic of the first game will be gone, though. I imagine it will more closely resemble a typical GTA game in a Western setting. IE., blow shit up and steal horses.

As of last Summer, Bethesda confirmed it wasn't in development yet and they were working on two new IP's before TES 6. With a 4 -year dev cycle, that means you won't get your hands on TES 6 until the early 2020's, and by then the PlayStation 5 and Xbox 3 will be out. Abandon all hope.
