Game begins with incredibly long and drawn out cutscene that could easily be reduced to 2 minutes

Did I buy the same phantom pain everyone else did? This is horseshit.

self bump, even though they don't work. Seriously, did I buy the wrong game?

No, you didn't. It's incredibly fucking annoying and you can't skip it. There are no mods for it either, the best you can do is downloading a save game. It actually can take upwards of an hour or so before the game lets you start doing your own shit.

inb4 kojimadicksuckers downvote, but the supernatural faggotry has always been MGS' dumbest element.

good to know. So this shit gets better at some point? I skipped upwards of 5 cutscenes that went fucking nowhere and I saw a scene where snake gets his actual fake arm, not the one he has in the shitty hospital section.

This is why we needed good Splinter Cell games. It counter-balanced all the weird shit in MGS.

>envokes the supernatural in a universe where it doesn't seem to fit at all
PSYCHO MANTIS
THE SORROW
SCREAMING MANTIS

Yeah, it transforms into a semi-open world sneak-and-shoot-and-collect game. I say semi because the levels aren't like GTA or RPG/MMO "huge" but they are pretty big, bigger than a typical "level." More like zones I guess. There are loads of side missions and shit, and you can sneak around and kill people. You also collect resources to build your base up, so there's a little bit of strategy, which at first I thought was weird but then I grew to like quite a lot. The best part of this is that you can knock out almost any enemy in the game and attach them to a balloon which captures them and makes them work on your base.

I also found sniping to be more fun than anything else, but ymmv. Check out the Nexus for mods, there are tons which fix most things if you don't like them (except the gay intro). Also there are nude mods.

the absolute STATE of Sup Forums

Oh and to further this, I wouldn't feel bad at all about skipping cutscenes. The gameplay itself is extremely good, but the story is so batshit insane you probably won't be able to keep up with it anyway. Just read some wikis later on if you really care that much.

wannh

>experience discomfort
>IMMEDIATELY go to Sup Forums to make a post about it

i no longer have anything in common with you kids

what do you mean by discomfort? the game hasn't startled or unnerved me in any way. If it did, I'd take that as a positive and a sign that the game was going to be good.

The only emotions this game managed to invoke in me so far is boredom and frustration.

The only kid here is the person that got butthurt that someone doesn't get a good first impression of a game he enjoys.

Ignore the kojimafags and typical Sup Forums uniformitarians. The story of MGSV is shit, but the gameplay is great. I hate people who say "trust me it gets better," because 9.9 times out of 10 it never does, but this is one of those ultra rare times it does actually get better.

Appreciate this, I wasn't aware this game had mods. That'll make it more tolerable for sure.

Have you never fucking played any other MGS game before, brainlet?

Did you not play any of the other Metal Gear games?

>envokes the supernatural in a universe where it doesn't seem to fit at all
You mean the same universe that has psychic dudes, ghost dudes, vampire dudes, dudes who shoot bees out of their hands, dudes with magic nanomachines, dudes with magic luck powers? I'm sure I'm missing quite a few

The worst part is that the prologue is one of the highlights of the game. It's on-rails and cinematic as fuck, but you feel like you're in Metal Gear and not some shitty Splinter Cell ripoff.

Now, to be fair, the only supernatural part of Vamp is his healing factor, which was amplified by nanomachines.

Forgive me as I've not played much MGS but isn't the series known and popular for being unconventional?

how do you feel about twin peaks?

honestly has to be the worst intro ive ever experienced, shits painful

someone please just let kojima direct your movie

the opening sequence makes replaying hell, never bothered, dumb boring 1hour long intro

mgs v is shit but you're still a complete faggot OP

Vamp also had that shadow power and he could walk on water/climb walls. MGS has explanations for most of the supernatural shit but it still comes down to magic supernatural technology

you not only get to enjoy it once but twice

>envokes the supernatural in a universe where it doesn't seem to fit at all

I love it when people say this because this is clearly your first MGS game if you think this is the case.

>Starts a series on the 6th mainline game
>"CUT SCENES ARE BORING! I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS GAME!"
>"WHY ARE THERE SUPERNATURAL THINGS? THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE FOR THIS UNIVERSE!"
>"WHAT IS THIS CHARACTER CREATION THING FOR?"
Fuck me, what a tard.

>The intro is the highlight of mgsv

The game doesn't even start until you finish the 3rd mission

>buys mgs game
>annoyed at too many cutscenes

Good gameplay and a good story is not as important to people as DUDE MATURE REALISM and DUDE YOU CAN DO ANYTHING sandbox

Everyone loves MGS V

All that stuff was given retarded scientific explanations. It's not that supernatural shit doesn't exist in MGS, it does. It definitely does. But not everything is supernatural. Some of it's bullshit nanomachines, some of it's bullshit hypnosis, some of it's bullshit parasites. The following are for-sure supernatural, psychic shit:
>Psycho Mantis: Telekinesis, telepathy.
>Revolver Ocelot: As the son of the Sorrow, he apparently inherited the Sorrow's talents as a spirit medium, hence why Liquid was able to take over his my through his arm. It's stated that Ocelot found this rather annoying, so he ended up re-amputating his arm, replacing it with a mechanical one, and then using nanomachines and hypnotherapy to make himself think he was still possessed by Liquid, because Kojima's such a good writer and that's not unnecessarily convoluted or retarded at all.
>Vamp: Healing factor, amplified by nanomachines. Ability to walk up sheer walls was explained as some sort of bullshit tech, while the ability to pin people's shadows was explained as bullshit hypnosis trickery. His ability to stand on and run on water was never actually explained, though. The whole drinking blood thing is just a personal hobby of his.
>Fortune: Allegedly had the power to deflect bullets separate from the device implanted in her, but how much of that was real and how much of it was Patriot bullshit is up for debate.
>The Sorrow: Spirit medium.
>Volgin: Fulgurkinesis, later mutated into pyrokinesis.
>Screaming Mantis: Telepathy, which is what she used to reign in the other B&Bs. She explicitly does not have telekinesis, though, hence why she needs strings and nanomachines to manipulate bodies.

Vulcan Raven's a vague one. Allegedly, he was some kinda shaman, but he never exhibits any significant supernatural power beyond his ability to (apparently) communicate with ravens.

>Get to lategame
>Realize just HOW fucking grindy FoBs truly are

Why are they introduced almost halfway through the fucking game and why would it take THOUSANDS of successful invasions to max out ONE platform what the fuck where they thinking

If you filled your security force with E rank scrubs end your fucking life

Attached: 1520947433951.jpg (600x637, 43K)

I thought that floating kid in the gasmask was a girl until the last quarter of the game. That's what I get for being a brainlet I suppose.

Attached: 1503282673231.png (657x527, 28K)

>Psychic wearing a gas mask

Who else could it have been?

>forces you into character creation that does nothing and is pointless
This sets up your online character, besides serving a story point. (You're supposed to feel like the real BB, to whom facial reconstruction would be important)

It was filler until MGO came out desu

>>forces you into character creation that does nothing and is pointless

You didn't even finish the game! Otherwise you'd know what that was for.

>Thinking V's cutscenes are too much
>This level of ADHD

They were thinking of filling it with as many mobage elements as possible instead of making a real game. Real-time waiting, daily login rewards, microtransactions, etc. Even things taken from Peace Walker are handled in a much more scummy manner.
