>Sea of boredom
>Sea of fetch quests
>Sea of skeletons
>Sea of early access
>Sea of no content
>Sea of full price scam
>Sea of no mans sky
Did you fall for it Sup Forumsros?
>No Man's Sea
As a psbro, I hope it is good so xboners have something to play
it's awful and not even worth half the price at the moment
not really because I used the 14 day free trial and got all I wanted out of the game
what did you do the other 13 days
I'm lucky I was busy with work when this was released, otherwise I probably would have bought it day one.
It would be a great $20-30 game if only for the PvP, but for $60 it's simply not worth it.
Plus it's safe to assume the only reason it's $60 is to incentivize getting the Game Pass
>Game is called Sea of Thieves
>It turns out Microsoft were the thieves all along by stealing everyone's money
Why would anyone "fall" for it? The game had a lenghty beta test that allowed everyone who cared for it before release to check it out and after release there was plenty of video footage available for interested buyers to see in which state the game is.
The only demographic who could possibly "fall" for it are people who do not have an internet connection to inform themselves but then again one is required to play the game so this narrative makes no sense at all.
More like sea of soy
I play about an hour a day here and there with a few friends on PC.
Battles and stealing shit from other players is pretty fun. Wish purchases weren't purely cosmetic.
Pick it up on gamepass trial, dont pay full price.
I didn't fall for it thankfully, since I already own a pirate game youtube.com
We asked for a new ip to rival bloodborne and instead we got something to rival nms.
>buy new sniper rifle, maybe this one has a properly marked scope instead of a busted one (yes I understand where the cracks meet up is where the center is)
>still busted, even if it's a 'fancy' style
>Sea of Thieves
>not Sea of Pirates
Why?
I don't know why everyone is complaining about this game so much, it looks like it's really fun as long as you don't do pve
I would have fallen for it if it were on a system I actually own.
fpbp
It is in fact exactly the game I expected it to be, so I did not.
For 60 dollars?
you first need to fall for xboxone to fall for this
even idorts don't care about xboxone
because the PvP is totally lackluster as well.
There's no punishment for dying because respawning is endless.
There's only 4 weapons, and out of those 4 types, only 3 are worth using.
There's only 2 ships, 1 of which is pointless to use if you have a big enough crew.
And server sizes are tiny, max 16 players.
That isn't enough to justify a download, let alone a $60 price tag.
lol
If I knew as little about it at the time of its release, yeah.
Kek
What the FUCK has happened to Microsoft? For real. Someone explain this shit.
Look at the 360 and how it ushered it the "next gen". Now all their IPS are fucking dead. Nobody cares anymore. They only have Forza to rehash.
Their biggest game in over a year is some cartoon pirate shovel ware. What the fuck.
If you went back in time and told people the 720 would peak at like 35 million units and that halo and gears would be DEAD everyone would laugh at you.
i got it through the free trial and I'm having my fun with it. I like sailing, but I can sea why most people find it boring as hell. I just don't, though, so I'm enjoying the game despite how much of a let down it is. I might pay $10 to play some more after the free trial is up, but I definitely don't see the game keeping my interest for the full month.
Because they tried to turn the Xbone into a ridiculously anti-consumer surveillance device with a stupidly high price tag and shot themselves in the foot in the process.
The release fiasco killed interest in developing for the console.
Microsoft's near-monopoly has allowed them to grow complacent and incompetent, and that same effect extends to their games division.
best xbox was first one anyway
I thought it was made by rare
I seriously don't think more than 1% of ""gamers"" cared about the surveillance stuff.
The mandatory kinect was dumb I'll give you that. And I guess maybe the used game bullshit. Fuck what a disaster.
I fell for getting it for free from Game Pass, I guess. Played a handful of hours with some friends and it seemed fine enough but once we realized that playing it longterm means doing the same thing over and over again we got tired of it pretty quickly.
not him but it's a joke edit if you really couldn't tell
>And I guess maybe the used game bullshit.
they were trying to give people a superior system, console gamers, predictably, couldn't understand the change and wanted to cling to an inferior system
i cant imagine selling old games being a part of my life heh
This will always be Jones’s finest hour
Seaman of Soy
Anti-consumer practices have always worked out for microsoft before. They pioneered proprietary software and paid online. Both were successful enough to spread like a cancer and ruin their respective industries.
How hard is it to make content? Just create a 20 ship battle royale mode.
Phil spencer. He knew the 360 was loved so he blew the whole budget on getting bc to work instead and forgot to fund games. Oh and controllers, he funds more custom controllers than games.
The don was actually a beast when it came to funding games its just he blew his mouth off when the cameras were on him at the launch of the xbone.
the xbone reveal happened and they've been recovering from that for five years. they tried making a bunch of deals for decent exclusives and most of them fell through. go back and watch their e3 press conferences from 2014 and 2015, nearly all of those games ended up cancelled or mediocre
>4 FPS
The game already dips in empty caves
>Battle royale
I hope this meme dies soon
>they were trying to give people a superior system
Which was what? I can't imagine not being able to sell an item I had bought once I was done with it
A big part of battle royale is finding weapons, equipment, and what not and this game only has 4 weapons. You wouldn't even have reason to explore which is needed to prevent camping.
Nigga each instance you get thrown into has 24 ships total (as in the whole map), you think they are going to do a 20 ship battle royal mode?
Even if they did the game is mechanically as deep as a puddle and with 0 gameplay variation, what good is a combat focused mode like battle royal when all players essentially only have a the same pistol from start to finish?
>I can't imagine not being able to sell an item I had bought once I was done with it
that's becuase you view games as "items" and not "experiences"
they were doing a steamlike system and they said it would be perfectly fine to go to a friend's house, log in to your account, and play any game you have etc...or give them access to your account
of course, they forgot console users are people who live in trailers with dialup internet
selling games just doesn't seem like a thing to me even, i don't buy consoles
Who would fall for it? No one owns an xbone, and if they do, no one cared for this game, it was literally dead on arrival, being completely empty like no man's sky is just the final nail in the coffin.
If you can't see why people be upset that they can't sell their physical game because of DRM you are braindead.
It's not about selling games it's about not being able to buy used copies.
right they're upset because they're poor i understand that, it's just not something i connect with
makes sense. microsoft shouldn't be condemned for trying to move things forward, though
used games will not exist on ps4/xbox two, i assure you of that, 100%
Make it so the ship that has the most loot at the end wins, also they could make it so there are better weapons and ship parts on islands.
It's so simple this mode can be implemented in a month.
I thought it was obvious that this game would be trash. Literally this My friend was trying to talk me into it, nope. You are on your own buddy.
As far as I'm aware shilling isn't a very lucrative job, juden.
But once I've had the 'experience' there is literally no reason to keep the game when I can turn it back into money
>steamlike
so basically paying ridiculous prices for a digital license? lmao get fucked
>pc fats can't sell their games so nobody should
get fucked x2
Yeah I agree it would be cool and probably not that hard to do but they probably want to fix the main game mode before thinking about anything else.
No I haven't
My spider sense went of when I watched the reveal trailer. Same thing happend with No Mans Sky, Colonial Marines and Brink.
don't tell /x/ but think I've got a sixth sense
I can't understand why/how people keep buying into the hype for these types of games? What did they show of this game that made anyone excited? Maybe I'm just jaded, but I just can't understand it.
That's some neat cover art.
The E3 presentations were phenomenal. It looked like Rare had made the perfect pirate game, with all the connotations that go along with that.
marketing
They had a neat presentation, and it seemed like they were following through on their twitter.
Why isn't Rare allowed to die in peace? It's been 15 fucking years.
scalebound got cancelled for this they didn't even bother giving platinum a chance
is it any good?
This is them dying in peace.
Then why is it so popular on twitch?
Hmmph, thought so.
There is absolutely no way you could have looked at Brink trailers and saw what you are now claiming to have seen. Brink, on the surface, is actually a fantastic game. It's only after playing it for a while that you find things wrong with it. Meanwhile, Colonial Marines is just abortion.exe, and No Man's Sky was a lie.
no I thought it was shit from the very start and then wasn't surprised when a western company known for garbage games managed to put out an unfinished mess since this is what modern western games have come to these days
It is? It's not even a week old and it fell down to spot 9 with many big streamers that said they were going to cover it exclusively playing other games.
Fucking Attack On Titan has currently more viewers that SoT does.
I played the PC betas thinking they were just technical/networking tests so partially excused how sparse, lackadaisical and tedious the game was. Nope, that's just the game.
RIP Rare 1985 - 2002.
I'll fight you
The sloop permit a lot of maneuvers the galion can't do making it the best ship to track and sink
The pvp is amazing, the map is beautiful, the design is awesome
The only problem with this game is the crossplatform with the Xbucks bringing down the numbers of players to 16 per server
>It would be a great $20-30 game if only for the PvP
Not a chance. Vermintide 2 is $30 and infinitely better than Sea of Thieves. SoT isn't worth more than $10 at the most though to be honest I wouldn't even bother if it was free. Looks like a genuinely dull game with a nice coat of paint.
yeah all those streamers cosplaying pirates, jumping on the hype train... and it will be out of top ten tomorrow most likely
I want to know a way to play it without "upgrading" to windows 10
If I can keep windows 7 as my main booting it's good enough
help?
Yeah it's alright, very unique is its main upside.
It lacks the exploration open world dimension of SoT to focus a lot more heavily on PvP.
Two teams (navy and pirates) fight each other in 54-player servers to sink all the enemy ships or capture their fort, you get to captain or crew a ship of 7 or 13 people.
Definitely a hell of a lot more content than SoT, and nonstop developer communication with the community. The devs have promised they'll never do DLC or microtransactions.
New stuff is being added all the time, we had a massive update two weeks ago that added a whole bunch of ships, chain shot, fire shot, bar shot, fortresses, etc.
youtube.com
The next update we're getting is bringing sea mines, Capture the Booty (reskinned CTF), neutral ships to pillage for resources, and 3 more ships.
The main downsides are that there's still fairly frequent visual bugs (since content and balancing takes priority over bugs that don't affect gameplay,) and the visuals are kind of last-gen (but tolerable).
Other than that though, it's definitely worth the money. I've gotten about 200 hours out of it since release.
Here's a fragvideo from an earlier version that an user made youtube.com
That's so sad that there were people looking at this game as some gold mine to get popular streaming off of
Whatever magic MS had with the 360, its gone now. It almost looks like they just got lucky with the 360. Towards the end of the seventh generation, the 360 tanked and MS never really recovered from that.
looks like mount and blade on ships (like what that viking single player campaign we hoped would be)
Dude, what. From what I saw from the presentations this is exactly what I saw. Completely shallow gameplay.
The Xboner debacle killed the brand overnight, even normalfags hated the idea of no more pre-owned games.
By the time they flip-flopped, the damage was already done.
>The E3 presentations were phenomenal.
fucking lmao
Ubisoft are going to kill it with their multiplayer pirate game.
Oh, and the music and voice acting is fucking top tier, as well.
I swear they must have hired a Mr. Krabs impersonator to do one of the pirate voices.
>youtube.com

Funny you should say that because one of the developers is a massive M&B and Chiv player and according to him has thousands of hours in it.
However, melee combat is really basic currently (no directional elements or kicks, just attack/block), and the developers say they don't want to copy M&B's combat system. What we're ending up with for melee is going to be like a watered-down Chiv, scissors paper rock style.
It's more like Napoleonic Wars if anything, since guns and cannons take up a much bigger role. If you do want Mount and Blade on ships, Holdfast (a spiritual successor to Napoleonic Wars) is probably a better option than Blackwake, except 50% of that game takes place on land, while 90% of Blackwake takes place at sea.
If by mount and blade you mean "janky looking game that's secretly really good", you're spot on.
note: some of these screenshots are from brazilian favela-tier computers, and don't do the game justice. it is still last-gen graphics though
dammit, looks like just missed it being on sale, have tons of hours logged in warband/nw so will definitely grab it next time it goes on sale, looks cool
it was on sale literally hours ago on Humble lmao, poor timing
But yeah, wait for a sale, they have them as often as steam will allow
Microsoft entered the industry by buying good studios left and right but seemingly didn't maintain them. So studios like Rare only got worse as time went on.
This would explain why the games were quite good in the 6th and early 7th gen and them just collapsed. I'm pretty sure Hiroshi Yamauchi from Nintendo said it wouldn't work.
The actual creative talent left Rare long ago. All that's left is Calarts graduates.
>Nigga each instance you get thrown into has 24 ships total (as in the whole map)
It's even more pathetic. It is capped at 16 players and 4 crews
not 4 crews
>another western game that was released recently is garbage
Color me surprised
"No mans sky is a scam, it doesn have multiplayer, surely this whole universe to explore wouldnt be so boring with friends"
>Rare releases No man's sea, now with extra multiplayer and even less to do.
"WTF, who thought this would be a good idea?"
LOL
Blackwake babies still SEETHING
>Sea Man's Sky
heh...
It had too much gameplay
Wasted a 14 day free trial on this when I could have saved it for State of Decay 2.
Brutal truth right here.
it gets the most views during burger hours.seen it surpass overwatch views for the last few days
KCD was in top 3 for a solid week after release, in top 10 for at least 2 weeks
