You can play against the AI. There are specific defensive maps.
There is also a survival mode where monsters come at you and you need to literally play a simcity defense game and make a gazillion amount of towers and walls.
There are 3 walls types. tier 1 sort anti tank barricade, tier 2 land wall and a sea barricade.

Yes, its blocky but in that lies its charm. The visual style is preserved throught all the game elements.
But this is the msot versatile RTS game ever made and it just got a development boost....
Where else can you completely control the movement of all your units, each shot is simulated, and there are hundreds of units spread out over 3 tiers including ships, planes, subs and giant mechs.
Is there multiplayer?
Yes. It has no campaign. Only skrimishes versus AI and survival zombie mode(aline chickens in this case).
Its based around multiplayer of both small 1v1 games and giant 10x10 and more players in one game.
There is also free spectating and chatting between specs.
this all seems too much for my toaster from 2009.
Game is well optimized. Reduce the visual fidelity and im sure it will work. Its an open source project not some AAA release.

The models are from Total annihilation, and its easier for the toaster to draw these
Besides its hard to imagine 32 vs 32 with sharp models.

i can respect what the devs are doing here but pumping out endless waves of shit into an already massive clusterfuck isn't my thing unless i get to play as the soviet union or imperial guard from 40k. cool though.

Play more competitive 1v1 2v2 3v3.
