What is the greatest Kirby game?
What is the greatest Kirby game?
Robobot, followed VERY closely by Super Star.
Robobot
Robobot
These
Nightmare in Dream Land
02 will never return as it is too busy being an anime girl.
Adventure, Super Star Ultra & Robobot. Best spinoffs are Air Ride and Dream Course. Best aesthetics are Dreamland 3 for mainline and Rainbow Curse for spinoff. Best music is probably Robobot for mainline and Rainbow Curse for spinoff but that's debatable.
Star Allies probably has the best-feeling combat in the entire series, but it lacks things that other games, even other Kumazaki-era games, have had. I hope the next game builds off of Star Allies in terms of combat because it's incredibly fun to go wild with just about any ability in that game; it's so fucking smooth.
Super Star.
3 way tie between adventure, Superstar, and 64.
Amazing Mirror has a blend of the best physics in the series with some of the tightest level design
My personal favorite is Return to Dream Land, but Robobot and Super Star Ultra are objectively better.
I'm still playing Triple Deluxe, what makes Robobot a masterpiece?
Cray final boss with good music.
I have yet to play Robobot so I say Super Star Ultra.
Can someone translate this?
I swear the only good part about 64 was the abilities and final boss
Just all around more creative and the robots don’t feel super gimmicky, they’re actually fun unlike the egg.
better gimmick than hypernova.
Personally, I think Robobot is kind of overrated.
Take Triple Deluxe's general outline, add robots and mechs, and replace Dedede with Meta Knight.
Also, Robobot feels more cohesive than Triple Deluxe, plot-wise. TD's worlds are disconnected floating islands, and you only really get to the main plot in the last world. Meanwhile, PR is all about Popstar's mechanization, and it's shown no matter where you go.
Who's your most wanted but also most unlikely choice to be a dream friend?
Was it a good game? I remember being 7 and being so fascinated with it being what I would later learn to call a Metroidvania. Does it still hold up?
It feels like the first "real" Kirby sequel since 64. Return, 3D and Allies are good but a bit of a step down. Stuff like Mirror and Squeak Squad, you can FEEL how pumped out they are.
A weaker Kirby game, but not a bad one.
Very derivative. Better than Squeak Squad.
I have no idea why people like 64.
The physics were bad. The hitboxes were bad. The abilities were 1-trick-ponies, which is a step down from Super Star where each ability had an entire moveset.
Sure, the music was fantastic and the boss put an end to the Dark Matter/Zero trilogy. But those are the only positives.
It's a direct improvement in every way
Fairies and adeleine
>A weaker Kirby game,
how?
Daroach
pixiv.net
beats me, but is that susie or franciscia dressed up as star dream?
Amazing mirror is great yeah. Only complaint is a lot of powers still had the simplistic movesets instead of superstar ones.
Combining powers was fun, even if most were useless it was funny seeing the logic the game would come up with for each combo. Rock+Cutter was my favorite.
64, it has the best powers by far. The ability to combine 2 powers and get something completely new was amazing. I had hopes for the new title, but the demo turned me off hardcore when I realized power mixing was just "put fire/water/ice on the weapon you're using!" and not actually making a new power. I want to mix powers for real, fire + bomb = fireworks is way cooler than fire + bomb = bomb that can burn grass.
>The egg
I've played every kirby game and what the fuck are you talking about
Adventure
>distinct industrial feel
>the robot armor itself is not only fun to use in itself, but also has very different gameplay when compared to kirby (powerful as fuck but can't jump indefinately)
>clever puzzles
>good use of 3D
>new copy powers (poison and doctor) are terrific
>superb minigames
The first world was boring but other than that I could not really ask for more.
>The egg
What did he mean by this?
is he talking about the hypernova fruit?
I think he's saying the miracle fruit looks like a weird egg.
No idea. DL3,Amazing Mirror, and Robobot were my top 3 but I've been really into SA's guest star mode
Shadow Dedede. Let me axe the game a question
imagine being so fat that you play a game about eating and all you can think about is how the powerup slightly looks like an egg
that's because it's using the same engine/mechanics as DiDL. Which also had simplified powers due to it being a Kirby's Adventure remake
Is susie.
Super Star for the SNES. No contest.
Ultra is objectively superior
Because Adventure, Dreamland 2, Superstar + SSUltra, Dreamland 3, Robobot, Star Allies, and Return to Dreamland are better?
It's not deficient or anything. It's just a weaker entry, same deal as Squeak Squad. Nothing fantastic, just good.
>dreamland 2
>rtdl
>adventure
no?
>Weaker level design and bosses
>buh muh metroidvania
No, those are all better. Especially Adventure.
Nope. Only a newkid would think such nonsense.
Return > Allies
The only difference is revised audio/visuals and new content. Gameplay wise it's the same.
Super Star, especially the remake.
I don't understand why people think Dreamland 3 was just okay or not as good. It is in my top 3: Robobot, Dreamland 3, and Super Star Ultra
Listen I'm happy for you, but Canvas Curse is the best spinoff of all time.
OF ALL TIME.
Allies postgame is better though
Sorry nostalgiafag but no. Ultra has twice the content while keeping everything else untouched. It's the better game.
I don't like the artstyle in DL3. Needing to replay the levels for the heart things also threw me off because most of them were bullshit to figure out.
Allies is great if you want to play as Helpers/Dream Friends in Guest Star & Ultimate Choice because the combat is fantastic and those let you play through the levels/bosses with a consistent moveset and no stopping for story/level select.
If you don't care about the quality of the combat in Star Allies, then you're not going to get the mileage out of it that you could. I think it feels amazing though, even if the game could stand to be harder.
My thoughts exactly. Every power in SA (except bird because it's universally shite) is amazing to use.
Different user. Didn't they change the physics or controls a little? Ultra feels more responsive.
Is there a bad Kirby game?
No. Only games you don't like as much.
Squeak Squad comes close but even though I hate that game I can't call it bad. It's just monumentally disappointing
Battle Royale & Blowout Blast for sure.
I didn't noticed anything different with the controls
that DS one
It's a toss up of DL3, 64, and SS.
The two DS Kirby games are, respectively, the best and worst games in the series
Rainbow Curse kind of pissed me off for not being a proper Canvas Curse sequel.
Possibly. Or you're noticing the lack of slowdown, which was frequent on SNES.
Is it fair to call SS the worst Kirby? Definitely mediocre.
Squeak Squad is just painfully mediocre. The iron ability was cool but the stomach combo mechanic felt half baked. It would have been a 10/10 game if combining abilities gave you fused abilities like in Crystal Shards
Combining powers and the deliberate pace of the game. It’s very cozy
This is a personal vendetta because I played it when I was going back through all the kirby games for posterity and it was the most horrible grind I've ever encountered in a kirby game. The treasure chest placements are atrocious and luck based, the rewards are often unrewarding, the best abilities in the game are locked to either be only where they're least helpful or extremely situational, the ability combo system was unsatisfying, and to add insult to injury, your reward for beating the game was that you got to play the exact same game again with no changes or difficulty differences, except you're judged on how fast you get chests. The only redeeming qualities were the music and a few of the new/revamped abilities.
You posted it
>underaged opinion thinking it's always relevant
babbies fwirst kirby game.
>every room is intricately designed because it is a metroidvania
>worse than boring levels that are literally straightaways to the next room
I am still waiting for your counter argument fagtron.
>babbies fwirst kirby game.
that's 64
>wow here's the wheel power-up! You can pretty much use it for a few designated rooms in the whole game!
>playing on a 4 inch screen is better than playing it on a tv with original hardware.
Ultra is awesome because of the additions but there was nothing wrong with the original and it is the definitive kirby game. It is perfect as is.
No
Canvas curse.
Fuck all thhe haters, I genuinely had fun with that game
There you go, was it so hard?
>but there was nothing wrong with the original and it is the definitive kirby game.
I never said it was. The SNES is more easily accessible and the bigger screen is nice, it's definitively a good starting point. However, the DS game was still a direct upgrade compared to the SNES version.
Same shit with Chrono Trigger really, though the DS version added some extra content I personally didn't liked.
Which game has the best OST and why is it Star Allies?
There's nothing the matter with handhelds. You put your face closer to the display, and they have higher pixel densities than televisions. I played Star Allies in handheld mode.
It’s too bad Rainbow Curse had to suck so much, Canvas Curse was probably the best spin off.
Amazing Mirror
Dreamland 2.
>I love kirby's copy abilities, they're so varied and fun *proceeds to use hammer for 90% of the game*
Atmosphere, music, variety in levels (none of them felt the same at all), power combinations, mini-games were fun. Overall it had the Kirby charm and early 3D game charm that give it a memorable experience imo.
That game where you had to tilt to move was shit.
>variety in levels (none of them felt the same at all),
first level of ripple star, my dude.
Kirby 64 will always be my favorite.
>the power combinations
>the A E S T H E T I C
>the music
>still remember some of its more standout levels
>When you go inside it, it makes Kirby's inhale noise at a lower pitch
>True form is a pink orb with Kirby's face on it
>Battle theme is a Dreamland remix
>Uses mind-control hearts just like Kirby
What is Kirby
Yeah and even then it felt a bit different. It was on purpose I assume, since the whole star felt like a lead-up to the boss while reminding the player how far they've come.
That was the single most memorable track in the game for me because I adore whistling in songs. That being said, I'm disappointed this didn't make it in.
youtu.be
I gotta do another run through its soundtrack and while it definitely surpassed expectations, I probably am still leaning to the more heavy-themed Robobot soundtrack.
