I just finished the main story for this game and you know what, I liked it.

I also think the character roster is great!

I’ve put 100 hours into this game as my first Musou. The only major problem with it is that weapon variety; I hate having only two options each for ground based spears and axes.

swords are my favourite weapon so I don't mind

>I also think the character roster is great!
Think again.

These are the three most popular characters per game in the series. They could have given us a good roster using only these.

Attached: CYL top 3.jpg (924x5172, 3.04M)

meh, I've only played awakening, birthright and the game with Lyn so the roster feels like it was made for me

>not a single archer or dagger user
>no laguz
LOL

>2 axe users
>no Lissa
>EVEN MORE SWORD USERS
Thank god they didn't ask for your opinion, cipher fag.

My only real issue with the story is it focuses too much on getting the entire cast together. By the time you get Marth the story's pretty much over, and for the first Fire Emblem game that can actually portray huge ass battles between armies rather than the dozen-or-so units you take into every fight slamming into a bunch of NPCs, it really writes a lot of fights as pretty low-key and intimate.
At least with the Awakening part it's handled alright so they can hit some of Awakening's set pieces.
>easy going training exercise with Freddy to get the basics of map and battle flow management
>skirmishes in the desert to get Chrom a chance to duel with "Marth" in the desert arena
>Dragon's Table with possessed Robin
Then you get to Fates and it's just six chapters of "Let's fight this dude and massacre this army over misunderstandings" which I guess is totally faithful to Fates' story.
After that the game does the obligatory Lu Bu thing with Ryoma, Xander and Corrin but at this point Chrom's god-tier strength and defense will have kicked in after half the game so he can hold them off and Falchion shits on Corrin anyway.
Then it seems like the story's getting back on track and probably halfway through writing this they realized "oh shit we forgot to put Marth somewhere" so he's just stapled in there and then they go back to Awakening's big ol' tree fight and throws in the obligatory "reclaiming the homeland" chapter.

It's almost weird that this, more than any other FE, feels more like a JRPG given the focus on the small group recruiting individuals of importance rather than the movement of an army.

But anyway gameplay alone makes it one of the best musous.

That wouldn't have even been my suggestion. If I had my way:
>lords are given unique movesets, everybody else adheres to templates (there's a myrmidon moveset, a pegasus knight moveset, an armor knight moveset)
>no voice acting
>use the above two to expand the roster, sell additional packs as DLC for less than they are now
>characters are able to wield different weapons depending on what they use in their games - Chrom can swap out for a lance if he needs one, Alm can use a bow
>make an OC creator using the template system, you can create a character in any of the generic classes
>story mode is scrapped, it has empires mode instead
>all the characters in the game are warring to take over the continent, you can join or lead a faction and customize them heavily so you can have any scenario play out
>OC can S support with allies and will result in a child unit showing up

Basically, Dynasty Warriors Empires with a Fire Emblem skin.

>A musou with no voice acting
That sounds horrible.

Sounds like Hyrule Warriors.

Hyrule Warriors had voice acting.

watch hyrule warriors cutscenes. their awful

Hyrule Warriors had grunting. Not voice acting.

That's still voice acting you stupid shoe.

Does the 3ds version work with emulation?

The Good:
>Tiki's voice

The Bad:
>everything else

Since it's N3DS only and Citra can't emulate N3DS features in N3DS enhanced games, probably not. Just a guess, though.

You fucking basketball, I think having a more broad roster is worth not having to hear the shitty VA that we got anyways.

If they're doing grunting and shit, then they still have to get the voice actors in, it doesn't change a god damn thing.

And I'd rather they not even bother.

Nah, the roster is probably the worst part. Everyone tells me the gameplay is good but i'm waiting on a sale since they dropped the bar so hard. If they were only going to do 3 games they could've done a better job picking the cast. Like Awakening side should have had:
- Henry
- Donnel
- Gaius
-Panne (but then I guess they wouldn't be able to clone her without just using her son)
-Lon'Qu
Also, does this game even have any playable villains?

literally almost all my favourite VAs are in this game

Panne is the only interesting character you named.

Technically half the fates cast is villains, since they're the heroes in one game and the villains in the other.

Ok, maybe I just have bias for Lon'Qu and Gaius, but at least Henry wouldn't just be another sword user and Donnel is known for being broken if you put the work in.

As a brit, Tiki's fake accent is awful. Her voice actresses normal voice would have been fine for her, but some retard at NoA decided she should be fake-british.

>no sacred stone characters
jesus

Attached: #####moulder purge3.gif (240x160, 1.03M)

>as a brit

Opinion DISCARDED

She was actually written that way in the NoA translation of Shadow Dragon, with a mild british accent. It was impossible to pick up unless someone pointed out to you, though.

Aw guess gotta wait a few more years then. I'm try awakening instead then.

keep bryce papenbrook out of my video games. If they got a different VA then I wouldn't mind but Henry has to be one of the most forgettable characters from awakening for me.

I really can't fucking stand how despite being nearly max level with every character I can't find materials for shit despite using the blessings all the time, so I still have shit gear on almost everyone and only like one or two people have their awakened weapons.

At least unlike Hyrule Warriors I have money bleeding out of my ass and was able to keep everyone evenly leveled.

>tfw a ftp Gattcha game has a better story than the full blown spinoff.

>TOO MANY SWORD USERS
>most requested characters are Roy and Ike

regular materials or character specific materials?

Best place for regular materials is the first update map, for character specific materials it's easier to grind supports for that character.

Have set characters from each class for the story, with VA, skins have a few throw-away lines for defeating officers, musous, and dying, with a certain few higher profile ones having more to them, and bigger battles hyped up.

You are using the proper maps to farm for materials right, tomes/axes come from timed onslaughts in the Awakening map, bows comes from Sakura's chapter or the timed onslaught bow level, swords come from the throne in Gharnerf, and lances come from the bottom left Gharnerf

Book 1 no. Book 2 yes.

>Still getting everyone Paragon
Marth's Lv52 now and I still have to get it for 17 more people.
At least the Bond Charm is making it quicker, I don't think I'd even attempt to get everyone this skill without it.

That's interesting. I knew there were differences between NoA and NoE's Shadow Dragon translation, but I thought it was just names, not the actual script.

>You are using the proper maps to farm for materials right,
Hero Challenge is literally made for farming materials, you're supposed to use those. Each of the lower leveled maps have literally nothing but Sword/Axe/Lance/Bow/Tome users.

>Have set characters from each class for the story, with VA, skins have a few throw-away lines for defeating officers, musous, and dying, with a certain few higher profile ones having more to them, and bigger battles hyped up.
Sounds reasonable to me.

I might re-do it then depending on when the dlc launches, although I'm set up for all of the existing Awakening's opus's, and the only character not set up with his is Marth, who I never use

I never bothered doing that and all my characters (except Rowan because fuck Rowan) are 99+. I got tired of all the A+ supports just felating Marth so much. I understand the Awakening characters, but for fuck's sake, why does literally everyone take any opportunity to suckle on his ballsack?

>It's almost weird that this, more than any other FE, feels more like a JRPG given the focus on the small group recruiting individuals of importance rather than the movement of an army.

I dunno why, but Koei's original writing often falls into that trap. It's really jarring in Dynasty Warriors 8 where the main story is based on the semi-historical Romance of the Three Kingdoms, so you often get actual politic and strategic stuff being relevant, but then as soon as you unlock the What If routes, in the very same game, it all becomes character focused, with people gathering armies out of nowhere and dumb stuff like characters being grouped thematically rather than for any in-universe reason (like a mission where the player is attack by some all female unit which includes characters who really shouldn't randomly be going to the frontlines).

You'd think that writing Sengoku era stories and RoTK adaptations over and over would make the political part of them ingrained into their writers, but it doesn't seem to stick with them at all.

Even book 1 had a better story than Warriors.

It was the devs who claimed that there were too many sword user... before announcing a DLC which added in 3 more.

All things considered we should be grateful it only added 3 more. tfw Vaike as a lissa clone never

Yeah, my big problem is that they went with the obvious choices. Made the roster boring on top of the other complaints.

She has a few attacks which would seem really odd for a male character. The choice of unique movesets in general was quite odd though. Basically the only sword clones in the base game were Lucina and Celica, who were added by IS suggestion rather than planned by the Warriors team themselves, and yet other weapons were stuck with much more limited movesets.

I really wish the Shadow Elimination maps gave you materials when defeating the shadows. It's such a dick move to have to defeat the same character 4 extra times and only get one material.

Vaike is clumsy, so it could work. They'd just need to change the animation for the "strong attack" where she raises the axe and turn it into him flexing or something.

It really feels like they initially didn't plan clones, but realized they'd need more characters midway through development after adding the legendary sword wielders who were advertised in the game's first reveal, the distribution of movesets just seems really badly planned.

Swords

Rowan/Lianna
Marth/Celica
Chrom/Lucina
Corrin
Ryoma
Xander
Lyn/Navarre
Olivia (DLC)

Axes
Frederick
Lissa
Camilla/Minerva

Lances
Caeda/Hinoka/Cordelia
Azura (DLC)
Oboro (DLC)

Bows
Takumi/Sakura/Anna/Niles
(The bow moveset also was clearly made with Takumi's Fujin Yumi in mind specifically, with the two last combo finishers being based on its energy attacks)

Tomes
Robin/Tharja
Leo/Elise
Linde(DLC)

Stone
Tiki

Making all three FE villains sorcerers reusing Robin's moveset also was dumb.

Is that fucking arden?

A lot of the supports are boring as shit. There are some alright ones, like many of Chrom's if just because I've been grinding out Luna, whether it's the touchingly homoerotic one he has with Robin, Matthew Mercer talking to himself, redoing Hector's support with Lyn, Camilla freaking him out, and instantly being on guard when Elise tries to play with him. He's in a good spot where he can play manly man/aniki to the gentler characters, and straight man to the goofier members of the cast. But then you get a lot of the "nicer" characters just talking about inane shit about why the other person is so great and "muh friends" like they're writing in each other's yearbook.
Then there's just weird shit like Celica being retarded about Archanaea.

>Top 3 popular characters per game
>Genealogy of the Holy War
>Sigurd, Ayra, Arden
>Arden
>Not a holy weapon wielder like Ares, Shanan, Seliph, etc
>Arden, the fucking meme Armor Knight who is a lousy Gen 1 unit and has little of value to pass down as a father

Attached: 1501981827586.jpg (726x662, 113K)

Vaike would be weird as a Lissa clone. They need to diversify it a bit like Azura/Oboro or how Lucina has a different leadup to Chrom's attacks since she holds her sword higher. Lissa actually throws in magic but it makes sense since she's also inherently a magic user, much like while Owain is a Ryoma clone, he can throw in lightning attacks since he's also got magic potential(and shows up as a mage in Fates). It's what makes Minerva as a Camilla clone so weird, throwing fireballs and other things.

Vaike would have to be a pure axe man, relying on raw muscle. Also we need another infantry axe.

I really like the music in this game.

Resolute heart is my jam.

WHY ISN'T GUNTER IN THIS GAME

>shit in Fates
>shit in Heroes
>not in Warriors

Attached: 1519351413686.jpg (1024x576, 54K)

Honestly it's more just symptomatic of the series where every entry has a main character wielding a sword, a lot of the more popular secondary characters also use swords(e.g. FE1's Navarre, FE4's Ayra, FE13's Owain) and so much of the series is built around recurring archetypes and class types. How many different ways could you build a pegasus knight? Or a katana-user? This is a musou, they don't have the luxury of FEH's simple "draw a portrait, give it some stats and voice lines, scribble on the little paper doll sprite and call it a day."

Because then they'd have to remove a royal and we can't have that user.

I'm meh about the soundtrack, mostly for the Fates songs since they didn't need to be remixed. The originals would have worked much better.

Not that user, but some games give variants to different classes. For instance in Awakening, Pegasus knights could use tomes upon promotion into another class, they could have easily referenced that by giving Cordelia a tome. In that same vein Caeda was originally depicted as wielding a sword, so they could have had her do that in Warriors.

There were ways around their decisions KT just chose not to use them.

Even fucking Cipher has a better story than Warriors.

Instant nostalgia rush when this came on.

And of course, Awakening's Conquest is a standout.

Bad taste.

Aren't you forgetting something?

Attached: cardback.png (309x424, 262K)

I bet those telling you the gameplay is good think the character switch and orders were introduced by FEW, when in reality they were introduced by HW 3ds.

Nobody gives two shits about Cipher.

not that user, but I do.

I'm not a fucking nerd that still plays card games, so no.

>introduced by HW 3ds
It's been around much longer than that. Pretty sure DWE had orders back during the PS2 days. Not sure where character switching was introduced, but it's in a good number of them.

The fact that they were introduced in HWL is irrelevant, because FE Warriors still has better gameplay due to not having bullshit giant monsters and having the weapon triangle.

The weapon triangle in Warriors is pretty worthless considering that the base game has nothing but Pegasus knights wielding spears, which makes them vulnerable to both archers and axe units. You can't even get a infantry spear without first dishing out additional cash.

>anti triangle
Frederick is the best lance user.

Could you double check that?

That's a shame. Is it because you don't know how to play it? I'd be willing to teach you, user.

Attached: GunterCipher.jpg (352x479, 48K)

In Warriors Fredrick uses the axe, not a lance.

My point is that there are idiots thinking that those "QoL" features were introduced by FEW and go around claiming is better because that.

>anti triangle

Nah I just don't care about card games

Nobody is claiming that here. FEW is better gameplay-wise than Hyrule Warriors for more than just the things you listed. It also has less shit movesets, which is very important.

I'm not anti-triangle I'm saying that Warriors doesn't have a good triangle since it's so lopsided. So what should have been a selling point to warriors played on one ofWarriors's greatest weaknesses.

That's a real shame. Maybe you have to get your feet wet by watching some of it.
youtube.com/watch?v=2UNykixKMvs

Nigger, he's talking about using a weapon that reverses the triangle so Frederick will beat sword users, because the lance users in the base game are shit.

You're a fucking idiot. ANTI-TRIANGLE IS A SKILL.

>Nigger, he's talking about using a weapon that reverses the triangle so Frederick will beat sword users, because the lance users in the base game are shit.
And how does that prove that the weapon triangle is a good selling point of FEW if you have to go about trying to find ways around it?

Best girl.

Attached: Minerva,.jpg (1131x800, 790K)

It also has clones and a shit roster and these type of games fanservice is actually importan, more important than anything else.

Attached: 1457466439033.jpg (697x1024, 94K)

>3 most popular characters per game
>wanting the game to be nothing but the cover lords and a random.
This is the worst idea since day fucking one of the reveal, why is it still being posted for fuck's sake?

There is nothing wrong with keeping FEW only to 3 games. You can argue that there was something wrong with 1/13/14, but when it's only 3 games that really zones in on characters and allows underappreciated characters to have a turn in the spotlight. Something that would not happen with that shitty "3 most popular per game" idea. There isn't even an archer in your pic, not one. The problem comes from even with being narrowed in on 3 games, they still gave us all 8 royals and no one interesting.

Attached: 1519862218984.png (629x1173, 131K)

>Arden, the fucking meme Armor Knight who is a lousy Gen 1 unit and has little of value to pass down as a father
That's exactly why he got in, or that and already being in Heroes.

There was no reason Cordelia couldn't have been a dark flier instead.

I always found Lissa better as the sword smasher, until you get hit by one attack and that's like 40% of your hp gone

I hope you're pretending to be retarded user...

Attached: 1486333384945.png (627x990, 853K)

Nah there are way too many clones, no way to select bgm, way too many sword users, no villains, and the games they chose to limit themselves to are disappointing. If you had a roster with every lord in the series you'd have the same number of swords so there's literally no excuse. Hyrule warriors does everything better

So how many clones are there? Not counting bad guys, my count is 32 characters, 18 original movesets, and 14 clones?
Also, why is this game so ugly, holy shit?

I want a musou game for Switch, should I wait for Hyrule Warriors (never played it before) or go for FE Warriors?

Get the Zelda one. It was made with a lot more effort than FEW.

Getting the Fates DLC makes FE Warriors a ton better, but if you don't want to get anything but the base game, wait for Hyrule Warriors. It's going to have a fuckton of content, since it comes with all the base game's DLC as well as all of Legends's DLC.

FE Warriors does a bunch of QOL things to make it better than HWD, though.

>allows underappreciated characters to have a turn in the spotlight
Which did not happen. How can you say B is better than A because X, when X didn't happen?

Did you read the rest of my post, you dip?

Your core premise is flawed. Honing in on three games alone resulted in the roster being even worse than if they had just went on popularity. At least then, people would be able to play as characters they like.
