Broly/Bardock update is confirmed to have balance changes. 16's 5H is confirmed nerfed, and Vegeta's assist is now both faster and has less shots lessening its lockdown capability and probably making those very situational infinites even harder to pull off.

this is a bandai namco game so nothing about arcsys applies to it. and the patches usually come in the morning american time after maintenance. this is a huge patch so the maintenance could be long into the afternoon or evening.

Not him, but all I know is that they're toning down 16's super armor on his heavy attacks. Not sure what other nerfs if any are coming to 16, or what they did to Gohan and Vegeta.

And I think I'm gonna pick a Majin team too.

16's armor on his H isn't on frame 1, A.Gohan combos less, and Vegeta's assist became even more situational.

16's armor was never on Frame 1, Max was talking out of his ass there, armor starts up like 3-5 frames in. He's right that it was nerfed though, probably has the armor start even later and maybe takes less hits. Broly's armor on some of his moves seems limited to 1 hit while others take multiple, so maybe they made 16's on par with some of Broly's lesser armored moves so Broly can be the true armor abuser.

That team unironically sounds good. Broly assist seems like it'll be great for comboing into Fat resets. I'll be playing Broly/Tien/16 myself. Tien does big boy damage, has a couple grabs, and has 236M so he fits well enough.

The only one that's a known value is Cell. Kid Buu is good, but there are other perfect candidates that can do what he does better.

His neutral and pressure are unlike anybody else in the game, he has strong synergy with other high/top tier characters, his assist is probably the 2nd best for lockdown after Vegeta's, and he's so small that some combos just don't work on him. He's also got multiple of some of the best players in the game using him, while GO1 and SonicFox both advocate for his strengths and have publicly considered picking him up recently (GO1 will only use him if Gohan is nerfed a lot though).

His ground-to-ground game kinda sucks and his combo/pressure routes are really unorthodox to learn and use properly, but you're correct in that he's actually quite good. Nobody but BreakerDave and Alioune seem to be using him on a high level. I think if he gets a couple key buffs in the patch he'll be "discovered" soon.

Yes, because you're playing him anchor. Use his armor and "Fuck Projectiles" shield to win neutral and bully the opponent into the corner, blow up their escape attempt with an armored meaty, and then bring in your character that has good oki.

16 is getting his armor nerfed soon. Preview build with Bardock and Broly contained some changes to that. I guess they won't touch all his wakeup options though so I'm not sure how much that is gonna help.

I want to breed Ginyu

Nappa's my most played character. Honestly he would be decent if his air neutral wasn't so limited in options. He has literally zero anti-air specials and the worst 2H in the game. He has good pressure with a saibaman, but you pretty much NEED to start with switching him in from someone else's 2H to get it going so you get a ground slide.

He 2H ain't great, but I gotta disagree with it being the worst, that goes to Krillin or Kid Buu.

2H beats Super dash. Make idiots who use it as their only option to get in suffer for it.

Standing block if they're in the air, crouch block if not. There are exceptions to that rule even beyond the 6M overhead, but you'll learn them in good time.
Don't be ashamed to use autocombos at times.
Don't time your 2H to a jump, expect them to double jump before landing, maybe even super dashing.

Those two have shit range (and add T.Gohan to that by the way), but at least they hit super dashers from ground level. Nappa's can whiff those on occasion. I've had it happen to me more than once against at least Frieza and 18.

Instead of nerfing Virginia, I would rather have them add at least one more assist per character. If you want lockdown, you're pretty much forced to use his assist.
I admit that would be kinda difficult to balance the point~support definitions, but I believe it would still be better than what we have now.

Should I be practicing combos before hopping on? I'm pretty new to fighting games in general, but I figured getting a feel for actual matches and maybe learning some fundamentals would be better to do first, than grinding combos against a training dummy.

you should know the system mechanics, all of your characters' moves
and a basic combo for each, the universal one is fine

To be fair, just jumping online and seeing what the playing field is like and seeing how others play isn't a bad idea, just make sure you don't pick up bad habits from it.

If you are new to fighting games, keep your assists in mind, they're easy for a new player to forget about. Pay attention to how much recoverable (blue) hp you've got and switch out when appropriate - if you land a level 1, you can safely switch out if you have another bar by pressing your assist button, and get some more damage out too.

You don't really need to practice too many combos at start really. Just know that after you hit a heavy or LLL and chase, every character can do LM(jump cancel)LLL in the air, and if the launch was from 2H or LLL, it'll make them slide on the ground for a while. You can connect a super at the end of the combo if the enemy is sliding on the ground from you smacking them down and you land fast and/or close enough.

I just want to say the gohanposters in these fighterz threads are the best part about them. the staying in the corner meme is pretty amusing.
Nappa is a good character, 21fags need not to apply.
