Memes aside, i honestly don't understand what happened with this game. Is this the power of pandering to sjws?

I can't really figure it out. Everyone who did enjoy the game really did enjoy it. Every match I got into was fun, even when I was getting blown out. The movement on the fast characters was satisfying, the firepower and shit was satisfying, the variety of game modes was good.

When it finally died, my usual lawbreakers friends all got Overwatch and we play that, but it feels a little sad still.

when you marketing is pretty much fuck overwatch we're better then that
you alienate most of the potential heroshooter playerbase
especially when they're marketing was meme'd to death with the ugly promo girls and them eventually getting known for not having any players - which stops newer players from joining

paladins's marketing seems like it was 'we're not a free overwatch please stop' and somewhat survived

I can not find any reason to play this instead of Paladins

>genre was really popular on announcement and launch
no it wasn't cuck

You're joking, right
This was the launch trailer

>audibly painful 'music'
>no-name 'ecelebs'
>edgy criminal rap aesthetic
All the rest of their marketing was similar. It appealed to precisely nobody. We tried to tell CliffyB this, and he was having none of it.

They underestimate the power of waifu

I've got 15 hours in it, It was ok.
If it was free and had a playerbase I still don't think I would move to it.
They should have added at least a cute girl, CliffyB said he took a gamble on a cast that looked like the UN
He lost millions.

Competing in an over saturated market is what killed it

Tokki was cute

I've seen lots of "buy every card 4 times simulator 2k17" shills lately, is this the new Sup Forums meta?

These people just can't understand that arena shooters were shit.
Half Life MP was so much more fun than the piece of shit that was Quake Arena.

its gimmick gets really old really fast. Ever play on a low grav server in CS/TF/HL? Remember how fun it was but you got your fill really quick.

looked like an unbalanced mess and the character designs were total ass

There was no hook and the graphics/characters didn't grab people. OW knew to bank on waifus and cartoony since that sticks with people.

le billion dollar franchise face

By the time it came out everyone was riding the overwatch train. Had already burrowed itself as THE hero shooter to play, with "quirky" and "colorful" characters. Lawbreakers was just too late and too gritty.

>"buy every card 4 times simulator 2k17"
what game are you talking about?

It became stupid the moment you realize the laws they break are the laws of physics... it's like a lame dorky joke, they might as well make everything cartoony with the aesthethics of the magic school bus. and make neil tyson narrate the matches.

I don't even think the game looked bad, it looks fun enough to play, but it's just coming in at a time when the market is already full of games like it and it isn't different enough to catch peoples attention and make them play it.

It's just late to the party and all the people who would want to play the game are already playing games like Overwatch. It's like asking why, say, Warhammer Age of Reckoning or Age of Conan failed, they were just trying to play catch-up to WoW, and no matter the quality of the games, WoW just has too much momentum for any meaningful competition in the same way Overwatch does now.

>the laws they break are the laws of physics
Oh god, that IS stupid?
Why would they go with a rap theme if your characters aren't criminals?

Honestly if they had held off till now to release the game.. it would have sold quite a bit better.

I think you mean
>genre was oversaturated on announcement and launch
Also forgetting
>marketing appealed to a non-existent edge pro gamer audience
>game did little to establish its own ip with mostly ugly, forgettable characters
>terrible balance on final beta and release with full team wraiths
>poor tutorial that doesn't fully explain gravity and mobility mechanics
Also Cliff

The characters were also literal criminals. It was cops vs robbers.

I like how people still have the idea that the P2W card trash is still in the game.
It really ousts the shitposters as not playing the games they shitpost about.

games wasn't even released in asia

NONE OF THAT

Niggers in space!

You know sometimes I feel bad for Cliffy and his guys but then I think he put lootboxes in a fucking 40 dollar game.

>nice graphics
>shit art direction

>haha lets make the characters fucking ugly
>fuck gamers! fuck white males!
>wtf why did no one buy our game??

>>nice graphics
only on PC. most PC players are on toasters so there goes a huge chunk of potential customers
>>gameplay looks decent
you need to do more than decent in this industry
>>not full price
so people viewed it as an indie game
>>genre was really popular on announcement and launch
you mean over saturated market

>>not full price
>so people viewed it as an indie game
Given the money that indies make, I don't think that's a factor as much as the other stuff
