Sunset Overdrive is a fun game but almost nobody knows it existed. It'll be a hidden gem on a console full of nothing some day.

Toys r Us aren't marking down Lego sets because they know the resell value. Maybe 10-20% off max. Amiibo is being marked down considerably though at some stores. A lot of the unsold games are old Wii U and DS games. Some of those haven't been marked down yet despite being shovelware.

The flaw in this thinking is that there's going to be tons of discount toys on the market because other people with more resources have the same idea as you. I can guarantee you that there are people and companies negotiating to buy unsold TRU stock in bulk right this instant, if they haven't done it already.

Don't invest too much into this, I've succesfully sold stuff bought in going out of business sales before but the profits honestly were mediocre and you need to know exactly what to buy.

I literally wanted to buy an Xbox One but all my friends and family decided on PS4, a couple of them because they thought Destiny was a Sony exclusive.

My experience from this actually came from a video store (Blockbuster Mexico, Mexican moms love dragging their tech savvy sons into their shitty entrepeneurial schemes apparently), if you can find collector's items then go for it but otherwise leave the DVDs and blu rays be, by the time the big sales start only bargain bin tier trash will be left unless you wanna camp outside the store or something which I personally feel is kinda pathetic for how little money you are making, unless it was something I wanted for myself I wouldn't do that.
Go for cheap good video games, older games like The Witcher 3 or GTA V that still sell well today. I bought a copy of GTA V for myself during that sale for not even 20 usd, played it, resold it used, and still made a profit. Don't worry if it isn't the deluxe or goty edition, people are fucking stupid and will gladly the version without the dlc, even games like Destiny that need it

Second. SO is a middling open world game filled with really, really awful writing and the same enemies over and over. Traversal mechanics are too loose and forgiving for be rewarding. Game had a chance, but it’s just so fucking boring.

Sunset Overdrive is a relic from when One had exclusives. These days every Microsoft "exclusive" is on Windows - Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, etc, with full achievement integration and crossplatform play. So there's literally no reason to have an Xbox One anymore unless you just can't afford a good PC, which has all the same games but better.
