It's just a fucking easter egg for fuck sake. Dark Souls doesn't happen in the same universe as Bloodborne. Bloodborne's story is about the first people created by the gods and their lineage. There's no room for a side story involving Gwyn or whatever.

I hope not, only being able to do those things would limit the stories pretty severely.
Fun.
No, VaatiVidya stole his information from The Paleblood Hunt, which is quite shit. In his last video about Bloodborne he said the player was looking for "a paleblood" or some nonsense. Vaatividya doesn't know shit about Bloodborne lore so he wouldn't challenge people to ask him questions.
Didn't someone make this exact thread about Sans yesterday?

Confirmed for retard who knows jack shit about the lore
Let me clarify. Is the reason humanity is in a fucked up state because of aliens?
naw, he's right. I asked a question I knew the answer to.
Why does everyone refer to every boss thats not specifically male as a female?(Amygdala, BsB, Cleric Beast)
But the hunter is looking for the paleblood.
What the plot? From the moment you wake up to the end.
who or what is using the doll?
Whats the Moon Presence end game? Why it wanted to kill mergo?
Hunters and Gherman.
what is rom and who is ebrietas?
What was the Moon Presence's goal? Just helping Gehrman because he wanted to suppress the nightmare and slay old ones?
i mean that is controlling her, whatever it is has to be really fucking strong since it gets all the echos.
Laurence is a retard and tought that ayy lmaos blood 10000 years old was 100% STD free and safe ti inject in random people's bloodstreams
Rom is an ascended human and Ebrietas one of the ayy pmaos who was left bheind
Rom is a vacuous spider and Ebrietas is a daughter of the cosmos.
Why does it suck? Perhaps not the lore but at the very least, the game itself.
I call Amygdala female just because Amy is a female name and Amygdala sounds feminine too, if it were a real name. I really don't know what gender it is.
I have never heard anyone call Cleric Beast female, especially since Laurence is one and he's male.
People might call BSB female because the beast patients in Old Yharnam with hoods draped over their heads are called "beast patient (female)"s in the guide, and they do sort of resemble BSB. I usually hear people call BSB a him though.
Ebriatas seems female, her "legs" resemble a dress, and she seems to fight in a feminine manner, slapping you away with her tentacles like a woman slapping a man who touched her ass.
Not sure about Rom, some people insist it is female.
>Yet Annalise is the one who's described as sensual in the cut content.
and Arianna is described as a whore in the game
Where does the Moonlight Greatsword come from?
the labyrinth
Masterrace here, gimme a run down on the story, what is the hunter's dream?, why are there ayy lmaos and what were they doing?, and what causes the mc respawn after death?
Is Kos dead? Did anyone know about Kos before it died?
Wrong, comes from Seath. Good try though.
Tbf Amygdala and beast translated in some languages are femminine words
>Not sure about Rom, some people insist it is female.
Miyazaki said so.
>Ebriatas seems female, her "legs" resemble a dress, and she seems to fight in a feminine manner, slapping you away with her tentacles like a woman slapping a man who touched her ass.
What a load of fucking bullshit. She's a DAUGHTER of the cosmos. That's how we know.
But who the fuck cares about the gender of great ones? Most of them probably don't have one. Stop trying to humanise them. That's the most basic rule of cosmic horror.
If you think the writer of the note is important you need to know more about the development of the game.
Kinda, but not really. It's their own fault, sort of. The gods made mankind specifically so that mankind would serve and love them, so you can't really blame mankind for going overboard with their blood and shit.
I dunni, Amygdala is male though.
It's Paleblood, and it's not a type of blood.
The plot is really thrown together and threadbare because it was re-written a bunch of times and it was never finished. You wake up seeking something called Paleblood, and then you go to the Grand Cathedral in your search, and then you go to Byrgenwerth for no reason, and then a text box tells you to silence a baby, and then you foil the Mensis ritual to end the hunt and you're released from the dream in one way or another.
It's not a conspiracy, it's just a living doll. It's not Oedon or the Moon Presence or whatever. In your relationship with the Doll, you take the role of God and she's God's creation. It's like "you might feel cheated by the Great Ones, but you did the same thing to the Doll."
It didn't. You're not doing anything for the Moon Presence, and you don't kill Mergo. This is a common misinterpretation that's based on almost nothing.
I don't know, mostly cut content it seems. Removing the chalices from the main game left a few things up in the air. She isn't the source of blood, I can tell you that much.
The Moon Presence wants a surrogate child and Laurence was supposed to find it.
I don't think it does.
Kos is dead, but Great Ones being dead is not really what you'd expect from death. It's more like sleep. Gehrman and the hunters killed Kos at sea and she washed up later on.
>She cured them of beasthood, she does exactly what she says she does to them. She's saving them. She's also doing research.
u stupid or something
bitch no, rom & ebrietas are Functionally the same (ascended the same way) with the difference being that Ebrietas was a pthumerian and Rom was human
essentially a big ol unknowable Alien is using you as a pawn in Cosmological politics you can't understand in a world obsessed w/ finding Ascension. the first bit has to do w/ the respawn
yes, the fishing hamlet killed Rom. the reason Willem got a cord is because he sent Maria + Gehrman (during the time of Byrgenwerth) to the fishing hamlet to investigate the rumors of the Fish God Thing. we know this as Maria's Rakuyo can be found there + in the trailer for the dlc we see her and Gehrman entering the village very briefly.
just gonna reiterate that Ebrietas isn't a legit great one. handy way to check this is to look at the kind of blood they bleed. Ebrietas bleeds the same blood that Rom and Willem do.
How big is gehrnan’s dick?
Two of these are false
>It didn't. You're not doing anything for the Moon Presence, and you don't kill Mergo. This is a common misinterpretation that's based on almost nothing.
this is such an absolutely dumb take. only going to bite on that second part, explain to me why the Nightmare Slain message appears *only* after Mergo stops crying
>The Moon Presence wants a surrogate child and Laurence was supposed to find it.
Laurence? what the fuck, explain
>Gehrman and the hunters killed Kos at sea and she washed up later on.
Gehrman and the hunters did NOT kill Kos, back that shit up
Rom and Ebrietas both bleed a mix between red and grey iirc.
What exactly does that make them then?
>bitch no, rom & ebrietas are Functionally the same (ascended the same way) with the difference being that Ebrietas was a pthumerian and Rom was human
They cleary didn't, else Rom wouldn't have become retarded.
Ebrietas might be a full grown celestial emissary son of Oedon and the Pthumerian Queen
>u stupid or something
You don't understand the philosophy of the Healing Church. Being human is almost the same thing as being a beast. Listen to what Iosefka tells you. She isn't lying to you. She isn't even betraying her Hippocratic Oath.
Okay, which ones?
>this is such an absolutely dumb take. only going to bite on that second part, explain to me why the Nightmare Slain message appears *only* after Mergo stops crying
Nightmare Slain doesn't appear after Mergo stops crying, it appears after Mergo -begins- sleeping. Listen more closely to that scene. It's the same idea in the DLC too. You free an infant who's stuck in a sort of limbo, and they're returned to the cosmos / nightmare / cosmos, etc.
Nightmare Slain doesn't mean like "you an entity that is a nightmare", it's more like "whatever caused a nightmare has been tended to." Returning to the Orphan of Kos, you get the same shit there and it's very explicit about the child of Kos being returned to the ocean.
>Laurence? what the fuck, explain
This is mostly contained in the 1.00 description and Gehrman's dialogue. Gehrman is waiting for Laurence to do something, and the Hunter's Dream was established through a contract. The contract is presumably "you get the Hunter's Dream, but you have to find me a child. I'm taking Gehrman until you give it to me" but then Laurence turned into a beast in the chalice dungeons. Most of this was kinda retconned, but we're not given any other answer, and there is no other answer, so take it as you will.
>Gehrman and the hunters did NOT kill Kos, back that shit up
It says so in the DLC guide, which was only published with official information according to AGermanSpy. It's on the page of the Hamlet Priest or whatever he's called.
The orphan gives Gehrman nightmares and he was Maria's mentor. The old hunters pillaged the village with Gehrman at the helm, because he was the first. HE WAS THE NUMBA ONE.
Why do the enemies respawn? Why do you respawn?
I mean, she's pretending to be Iosefka, so she's lying a bit.
The idea isn't that they respawn, it's that the area is being populated with new enemies. It's just a gameplay thing beyond that.
You respawn because you're bound to the Hunter's Dream.
You can listen to Amelia or Micolash and they echo similar sentiments. Their wills weak, minds young, cursed by the beast, cleanse us of our beastly idiocy, etc. It's a frustratingly common interpretation to think of the Healing Church as power hungry maniacs that just want super powers. That's not really it at all. They want to A. know truth, B. not be beasts. Their biggest mistake is believing that the gods love them because they are their creations.
do you think rom is a great one in this case?
this is a take im def open to actually
there's a clear switch between two diff iosefka's lol
>Nightmare Slain doesn't appear after Mergo stops crying, it appears after Mergo -begins- sleeping
you're gonna need to back up that nightmare interpretation a bit more because i do not understand where you're getting that. you are actively *killing* their cosmological aspect / form in these scenarios. how exactly are they returning when you're killing them in said places?
>This is mostly contained in the 1.00 description and Gehrman's dialogue.
what indication do we have that the moon presence wants a child. i get it that every great one longs for one, but uhh, what exactly do you make of the player's purpose then.
>DLC guide
having trouble finding this, would like to see it if you have it on hand
think that has to do more w/ them massacring the villagers
you're projecting onto these posts something about the healing church that isn't therel ol. not sure what this has to do w/ there being two different iosefkas. 1: nice cleric lady 2: crazy choir lady looking to experiment on villagers
>think that has to do more w/ them massacring the villagers
Who killed Kos then? The broccoli parasite? Doubt it. The villagers that worship it? They pray to her for revenge against the hunters.
On the out-of-universe side, didn't they temporarily destroy Cthulhu in the ocean and torpedo the shit out of R'lyeh?
>there's a clear switch between two diff iosefka's lol
I'm only talking about the impostor.
>you're gonna need to back up that nightmare interpretation a bit more because i do not understand where you're getting that. you are actively *killing* their cosmological aspect / form in these scenarios. how exactly are they returning when you're killing them in said places?
Death isn't really death, it's more like sleep. So it's sort of true that you kill Mergo, but it's only because you need to free Mergo to stop him crying. If you look into other translations, they're much less harsh than "silence Mergo." The emphasis is just to stop Mergo from crying, soothe Mergo, etc. What's beckoning the moon, and therefore the nightmare, is Mergo crying, because all Great Ones want a surrogate. Mensis is using Mergo as bait, and by sedating the bait, the Great Ones and the nightmare fucks off. That's why the hunt ends after you put Mergo to sleep—the moon is no longer being beckoned, so the night can end.
>what indication do we have that the moon presence wants a child. i get it that every great one longs for one, but uhh, what exactly do you make of the player's purpose then.
All Great Ones want a child. As for the purpose of the player, our goal is to end the hunt so we can escape the Hunter's Dream. It's like Demon's Souls.
>having trouble finding this, would like to see it if you have it on hand
I don't have it on hand and I can't be bothered to take a picture of it and upload it. If you don't want to take my word for it, then that's fine.
>you're projecting onto these posts something about the healing church that isn't there
Not really, just listen to what people in the Healing Church talk about. It's never "give me fifty squid legs so I can be ultimately powerful." It's always "help us, we're beasts, give us eyes so we can discuss new ideas." Alternatively, you can look at the Eye rune which outright says the goal of Willem's research was truth.
Who's the wheelchair lad in the beginning, the one who gives you the contract? It seems that the doll knows him, is he just a hunter from the dream? Why is he in the clinic, why is he interested in the player?
Pic related is the DLC guide thing that confirms the hunters killed Kos. I got around to it.
He's just a blood minister who seems to be associated with the Choir. There's some cut dialogue wherein he talks about the awakening of Ebrietas and some other shit like why you're in Yharnam, but that was all cut and it doesn't go anywhere now. Generally the plot is extremely threadbare and there are few real answers except for what's going on with the Mensis ritual.
Did the Mensis nightmare start before the fishing hamlet incident?
What's going on in the Mensis ritual?
I like the theory that he's the moon presence in disguise. Since it's based on Nyarlathotep, it's not too far fetched. It makes up for his role being so tiny in the finished script.
wanna make some pts on ebrietas here actually
>resembles the infant kin that are v close to her
>weak to bolt damage, as kin are
>does bleed greyish blood + the red seems to be something she spits out
>was found in the Labyrinth, i.e. where the Pthumerians reside
>All Great Ones want a child. As for the purpose of the player, our goal is to end the hunt so we can escape the Hunter's Dream. It's like Demon's Souls.
no no why is the player put into the hunter's dream in the first place, if not being used for something. for instance, what is your take on the moon presence putting you in Gehrman's position after Mergo has been silenced? his embrace seems to indicate that doing whatever you did to Mergo was w/in his interests.
>Death isn't really death, it's more like sleep. So it's sort of true that you kill Mergo, but it's only because you need to free Mergo to stop him crying.
what exactly do we do to put Mergo to sleep? that's the main bit im perplexed about, as i'm not sure how killing his Wet Nurse sedates him
also managed to just find this online haha, ty though because i had no idea. definitely seems to line up
not even the healing church was formed during that time, it was only byrgenwerth
essentially brute forcing their way into the cosmos to find ascension
No.
The logistics are inconsistent, but the basic gist is that they're using Mergo as bait in order to beckon the Great Ones in the Nightmare of Mensis lunarium so that they can commune with Kos.
There's no evidence that the Moon Presence is based on Nyarlathotep. The Moon Presence is based on the Roman goddess Flora, who has a festival devoted to flowers, drinking and finally a beast hunt.
Why didn't Gehrman just shoot the blood moon with his blood gun that he got from the blood gun store at Central Yharnblood, hmm?
>no no why is the player put into the hunter's dream in the first place, if not being used for something. for instance, what is your take on the moon presence putting you in Gehrman's position after Mergo has been silenced? his embrace seems to indicate that doing whatever you did to Mergo was w/in his interests.
I dunno. Maybe the Doll is getting messengers to look around for a hunter. There's no information about it, because the plot is threadbare and not finished.
I think the Moon Presence forcing you into Gehrman's role is probably because it's part of the contract that she is going to keep someone until the contract is fulfilled. She's also sort of the goddess of the hunt, so there might be more to it. Nothing is suggested either way.
>what exactly do we do to put Mergo to sleep? that's the main bit im perplexed about, as i'm not sure how killing his Wet Nurse sedates him
We help Mergo by killing Mergo's Wet Nurse. One of the reasons Mergo is crying is because it's being used as a pawn in a nightmare ritual and there's a giant monster trying to steal it, who is not its mother. We just chill it out a bit. You could say that you kill it as well, like what we do to the spirit of the Orphan of Kos, but you'd be getting the wrong impression. We're not assassinating Mergo for the Moon Presence in some sinister cosmic plot, we're releasing him from a sort of limbo so the moon goes away and the hunt ends.
hmmm ok im definitely more open to this now.
>there's a giant monster trying to steal it, who is not its mother
any more info you got on this, particularly the stealing bit. i know we got Yharnam out front crying for + gesturing towards Mergo, although we don't really have a clue of what the Wet Nurse actually is
I though the ritual was to beckon the Moon so that they could create/ascend to be an old one, and the one reborn was their failed attempt at that. I thought only Micolash was interested in Kos.
Also, is the note about silencing newborn cries referring to Mergo, and that you need to silence Mergo to stop the ritual?
This thread again?
Why is Mergo's crib empty after killing his wet nurse? Did Mergo ever actually exist?
I don't think who killed it matters, the fact is that it's dead.
This guy talks about the possible inspiration for kos towards the end of the video.
More like at 18:00
Look at the beta moon presence's face. It's Nyarlethotep. That's just visual, but if you assume that you are working for the MP - being manipulated by it - things fit better. I never said Nyarlethotep was the only inspiration by the by.
what does the lore say about the game dropping to 10fps when playing cooperatively
>have you seen tiny beings of light?
>what music box, viola and tomb of odeon have to do with odeon, mergo and wet nurse.
>what amygdalas do exept snatch people to nightmares,
>how mensis brain is connected to messenger winterlanterns and doll?
>any more info you got on this, particularly the stealing bit. i know we got Yharnam out front crying for + gesturing towards Mergo, although we don't really have a clue of what the Wet Nurse actually is
Not really, I suspect Mergo's Wet Nurse was just added because otherwise you don't have a final boss when you submit. I think the basic idea is that all Great Ones want a child, so Mergo's Wet Nurse wants a child, so you have to fight it to stop Mergo from crying.
Nah, "they wanted to be Great Ones or to create Great Ones" isn't really touched on except once in a DLC trophy. It's just an easy and cynical assumption to make about the Healing Church being power hungry maniacs, but I don't think it's right. The One Reborn is just a bunch of people the Pthumerian women smashed together in a big summon after the moon was beckoned, it has nothing to do with Mensis. Mensis are not even around at the time.
>Also, is the note about silencing newborn cries referring to Mergo, and that you need to silence Mergo to stop the ritual?
Yes, in some other translations it specifically refers to the child as the Child of Blood.
Yes, and censorship. Arianna's baby is censorship too. There's kind of some rationale that Oedon is formless so Mergo should be formless too, but I don't buy it. Mergo is being kept in a crib, you don't put a formless being inside a crib. I don't really buy it. If you look at the Yharnam Stone it's very clear Mergo has some kind of physical form.
I don't agree that things fit better if you assume you're being manipulated by the Moon Presence unless you're willing to fabricate some giant cosmic conflict about the Moon Presence having a grudge against the other Great Ones. I think that's nonsense though, and it's motivated by a desire for a better and more coherent plot, which the game doesn't have, because it isn't finished.
The Hunter is Mergo.
If the MP insists on this contract you speak of then how come the hunters dream starts to burn and you are free to wake up? Does it go back to sleep once the bait is gone, so it can try again later? This doesn't add up. Why would it end the hunt after the bait is gone, but keep Gehrman?
>what music box, viola and tomb of odeon have to do with odeon, mergo and wet nurse.
Oedon is Mergo's father, and the Music Box exists because there's a musical theme surrounding Oedon. In fact, the etymology for Oedon is Odeon which is about singing, music, etc. That's why Viola is named after an instrument, and the blood "sings" to Gascoigne, and Annalise is a "siren" according to Alfred.
>what amygdalas do exept snatch people to nightmares,
Nothing, really. It seems as though they imbibe insanity / frenzy, so that's something.
>how mensis brain is connected to messenger winterlanterns and doll?
I'm not sure, there's definitely a connection to the messengers though, but I think it's more like a general cosmological rule.
