I was making an extremely comfy english village with beer gardens, orchards, and churchyards.

not pictured: the massive port slum shanty town I built to house all the immigrants to my town because I didn't want them up in the nice part of town giving everybody diseases.

I had a beautiful city In Simcity 4 at my old computer

I've played for like 45 hours and gotten one achievement.

But I also don't care because I'm not a faggot.

Is City Skylines worth picking up? I haven't played a city building game since Sim City 3000 when I was a child.

All I want is the difficulty and actual RCI considerations of making a city like SC4 but in Cities Skylines.

>still no release date

Yes, DLC is on a case by case basis but base game is worth it

It's good for building a city but there's no difficulty to it. If you are creative in basically a sandbox then it's great, otherwise SC4 is your best bet.

Do any city builders work with a system for real estate prices in city centers, and subsequent attractiveness of the area?

I often see high rise spread out over large cities in city builders, but in reality, you often want to put your expensive penis building on the very priciest of lots, to compared dick sizes with the others in the area.

Areas have a scale of attractiveness that raises the property value and gives more taxes/appeal

SimCity 2013 is like that but you don't exactly get a lot of space to do much of anything.

Simcity 4 and CS does this with "land value". You need parks and shit to influence skyscrapers to pop up. It's a bit simple to do in CS and a feat in Simcity 4.

it says winter 2018 in the trailer, so probably november/december-ish.

Do people build these in the unlimited mode? Or do people actually have the forethought to build massive cities like this from humble beginnings where your entire city is a sub division.

Beginning of it, a lot of demolishing involved

It's okay.

In Cities Skylines it's pretty easy to tear down the entire city and try again due to the massive amount of money you get throughout it. You have to really try to lose money in the game.

I'm always on the verge of being bankrupt... clearly I don't know how to manage taxes.

Yea the city died when I tried to mess around with old districts I had since I never used them as I built up. Something caused a deathspiral of land value and less taxes. Also I hit the limit of buildings I could put down

Aight, sounds dope.
Been quite many years since I sunk time into the genre, but I'm looking to come back.

That's pretty elaborate yo.

>GTA
Fuck that, I want a new SimCopter

my nigga

The worst part of CS is having a fluid traffic system once you hit a population of 200K plus.

Also hidden mechanics like educated citizens moving away suck balls.

How can I stop my city from being too foggy to take pretty screenshots?

That too, the ability at all to create a city that you have actual physics to work and drive around in.
Auto populate certain buildings with quests/objectives all over the city and the game builds itself

FYI /vr/ has regular city building threads. Also the same team who is doing openRCT is now doing open SC2k and openLocomotion

>

>tfw no option to put highways fitting side by side
>tfw no option to make an entry or exit lane in the highway

>is now doing open SC2k

Neat.

Can't have fun in Tropico 4 anymore. Feels like everything is pointless

Careful to keep that contained to Tropico or it might spread to every game

It's more sandbox than Sim City. To make a good looking zone you basically hand-craft everything, rather than plan and zone properly. Cities Skylines is to Sim City 4 as Planet Coaster is to RCT2.
