user, the first Mount & Blade game was made by a Turkish dude and his wife in their garage. It was enough of a success that they were able to establish and hire a studio but Taleworlds is the farthest thing from AAA. The Publisher for Warband, Paradox isn't even remotely AAA either, they make games for spergs and "selling out" for then is saying "we want the Civ audience".

Dumb niggers since Warband they have 102 employees now and their managing director is on the board of TOGED, a Turkish association that helps game devs get subsidies from the Government. That plus the lower costs of operating in Turkey, ridiculous sales of Warband/DLC they are capable of making a game that matches AAA standards now.
