no
i dont think the devs ever explicitly lied, and it didn't have the same level of hype
it's a game with nothing but it's not at that same level because the lying wasn't there

No since they didn't lie, you still paid full retail price for an XBLA sized title, tho.

No.
The developers promised nothing and delivered nothing.
Only the ignorant masses thought the game would be something.
Most people did the free month of game pass thing. So what little audience it has right now will be mostly gone by months end.

No, we knew it was gonna be shit because of the beta test. With No Man's Sky they kept everything away until release because they knew that shit was unfinished

Are the ship wrecks randomized? Either way, the game definitely makes me frightened of the water and diving out to get supplies, despite there only being sharks in the water.

Is more enjoyable than NMS but still not worth buying.

The ones with seagulls circling them are randomly spawned.

Consoles are losing hard this year. First this shitpile of a game, then God of Soy. This is hilarious.

Not sure how the fuck you compare this to God of War. we get it, you dont like the new direction its taking. it'll still be a solid game that everyone but Sup Forums enjoys

>God of Soy.
Will get a 92 on meta and sell 10 million copies, and will probably sweep game awards. Suddenly Sup Forums will shift to saying none of these matter.

I didn't mean to sting your sensibilities anons. It was just my opinion. I'm waiting for cooler stuff to come out to consoles.

Nope. Unfair comparison. No Man's Sky actually had content. Different quests and missions, many types of enemies, multiple different weapons and ships, upgrades and progression to achieve. Sea of Thieves has none of that, therefore, Sea of Thieves is the new low.

I will be surprised if there aren't "resignations" coming down the pipe.

God of War is already on track to be a game of the year contender with great combat, a great story, and tons of content. Are you just an Xboner with sour grapes?

look at this post you big crybaby.

i mean the game is fun with friends and there's other ships to interact with

but yeah base content there's not much

most people had never even heard of the game until it was popular on twitch

Then let me upgrade my damn computer, you damn crypto miners.

This
My free 14 day trial of gamepass is how I play this game and I'm probably going to stop after the trail

the game is a great platform, ship combat's really satisfying, pretty water.
if you have a ship combat penchant or just enjoy speaking online to other scurvy dogs you will like it.

BUT: content it low, suprising it released with so little considering the beta was datamined to find entries for several other weapon types for example

Nah.

No Man's Sky was an empty game. had shitloads of hype, and it all turned out to be over lies.

Sea of Thieves is an empty game, had no hype, and everything was true, but it's turning out to be popular anyway.

Holy shit, Turtlan?
Haha.

the ignorance is strong with you

>sell 10 million copies

yeah I can't wait for GOW to be in a fucking bundle alongside TLOU and Uncharted 4 in some shitty cardboard covers just for the game to """"""""""""""sell"""""""""""""""" 10 million copies

>Unfair comparison. No Man's Sky actually had content.

Yep.

What the FUCK were they doing for the past two years? How the FUCK does a studio with a AAA budget get away with doing FUCK ALL for this long? Someone should said, "Where's the fucking game?" at some point. Jesus Christ. I hope Rare gets fucking buried for this

Attached: ANGRY DOG.jpg (500x381, 27K)

they were training the diversity hires with no industry experience.

I'm literally looking at my copy right now on my desk, I took it out the plastic but haven't even played it since buying it on release day.

It's missing a lot of piratey things
>Sirens
>Ghost ships
>Cursed loot
>Merchant ships
Ect.

They need to implement more things for sure. Like merchant ships for example, maybe once every few hours it'll match two groups of players to man a massive 8 man ship and they've got to get their cargo from one end of the map to the other, and maybe just keep going back and forth as many times as they can on runs.
Meanwhile every pirate in the ocean would want to take them out for the rewards, making that run a lot harder.

The boating is fun and I've had nothing but good experiences with people. The game just seems to bring out the best in people, and the proximity chat for PvP is loads of fun for shit-talking.

it doesn't even have the rowboat on the cover.

They were probably forced to work on this horribly delayed project during that time.

>the game just brings out the best in people

You obviously haven't been one of the victims of my friends and I then. We have sent every other ship we've come across to Davey Jones Locker and robbed them blind. Got one solo player sloop last night before he could turn in and he had nearly 20 chests.

I hear they're banning people for griefing. Apparently they designed the game to prevent "toxic players" which is why nothing in the game actually matters.

>being a pirate in a multiplayer pirate game will get you banned

Attached: HopeLost100Percent.jpg (766x960, 80K)

>it doesn't even have the rowboat on the cover

I know, what a load of shit. They could introduce really heavy treasure that you can't swim with or something to make use of it.

Every crew I've been with has pretty much been attack on site. Have yet to get much good loot out of it unfortunately but it's fucking hilarious to board a ship, drop their anchor, and get a chest before swoocing out without anyone even seeing you. The potential for fun PvP situations in the game are huge.

I'd imagine they are just banning people who throw obscenities at people and sink their own crew's ship on purpose.

Now that's the pirate spirit.
This is what I want to do.

>I hear they're banning people for griefing. Apparently they designed the game to prevent "toxic players" which is why nothing in the game actually matters.
I doubt it. They even showed people getting killed for their loot in the trailer.

technically you cannot be a pirate in this pirate game. Piracy is when you steal from people under the protection of the law. There is nobody like that in this game. There are no lawful traders or npc trade ships.

You're just people playing boats with each other like kids on a playground.

Attached: No Man's Sea.jpg (650x433, 344K)

>>Cursed loot

well it does have that.

>I'd imagine they are just banning people who throw obscenities at people and sink their own crew's ship on purpose.
>I doubt it. They even showed people getting killed for their loot in the trailer.

Griefing, as in "killing a ship or player repeatedly just to annoy them".

It actually delivered on everything it promised, so no.

>Cursed loot
It's in game in form of special chests, but rare as fuck. Seen one what fills your ship with water and another what makes you drunk.

>I know, what a load of shit. They could introduce really heavy treasure that you can't swim with or something to make use of it.
The playerbase has too much ADHD for that, that's why you can shoot yourself out of a cannon even though you're much too large to ever fit even a leg in the borehole.

Can't wait for the ADL to start shitting on the game for making the jews look like merchants.

>It's in game in form of special chests, but rare as fuck. Seen one what fills your ship with water and another what makes you drunk.
>well it does have that.

My bad i take it back.

never bothered with the beta not gonna bother with the full release but ponies are trying hard to spread this meme

>banning people for griefing
There's difference between PvP and sinking your own ship or putting randoms into brig as premade for giggles.

In this game, only the latter is fun after 6 hours of playing.

Wrong.

Then go play your game, shill.

I were setting you up for "nothing is fun in this game", you dumb fuck.
But if you still having fun you might need to get checked.

There’s a difference between being a Pirate and a Privateer.

A privateer is sponsored by a country and raids other countries ships. They’re basically mercenaries.

Pirates are free agents. They rob whoever they can and do it outside of the protection of any countries laws. They’re thieves with boats.

its a step down but this reminds of fucking gta online
where you get penalized and put in a time out corner if you destroy other players insured cars enough

Pirates didn't attack other pirates. The trade ships were easier prey.

Breath of the Sea

yes

They removed that.

-Story
-more enemies
-improved fighting
-Base/town to build up
-progression (no ship from the outset, need to get another if sunk)
-Forced game chat

Nope, they delivered everything promised, it's just that no one expected them to actually be so brutally honest about the content.

>-Base/town to build up
That would require more than 24 players per server and a far larger map. Xbox cannot handle that.

>progression
That would make it "unfair to people who just bought the game" and the game design mantra is "be fair to everyone, NO TOXICITY :)"

>Forced game chat
That would allow toxicity which is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

No Man's Sky was better at launch.

In terms of fiascos no. Sean lied through his teeth in every interview. Rare at least didn't say anything interesting.
In terms of games they're close but SoT at least has true multiplayer so that adds an hours worth of playtime over NMS

Honestly love this game, but do agree ita kinda shit from a design standpoint. Just really fits my personal multiplayer niche

Yup. Had more content too.
