what the fuck was atari thinking.fucking mad men they weren't happy with one pile of buried consoles, they had to do it twice.

Are they still teasing or have they shown it off and given a price yet?

>tfw it's just a nicer looking Ouya

If it has better support and updates than chink tv boxes and ethernet cable I'll get one.

Its running GNU/Linux, not Android Linux which brings with it a lot of advantages in terms of gaming performance.
Plus its using AMD64 hardware which at this point basically means Raven Ridge Ryzen+Vega which means it will probably be using the Valve funded open source drivers which are now definitively faster than the Windows ones.

What the fuck is this thing's intended audience?
>Kids these days don't have the attention span for classic Atari games or want a deeper experience than going for a high score
>Anyone who has nostalgia for this thing is middle-aged by now, either has no time for vidya, emulates or has moved on to new games
>Indie shit is never exclusive to one platform, unless they get paid out the ass people aren't going to bother making decent exclusives for this

>tfw Atari crashes the video game market
>Again

Hypothetically if it is what we think it is, it should be pretty easy for developers or porting houses to bring any game capable of running on GNU/Linux with the RadeonSI or RadV driver to it.

Though from what we know about the SOC it will be using it would be between the Switch and the Xbone in terms of power, but that still means most games would be playable at reasonable resolutions.

>Anyone who has nostalgia for this thing is middle-aged by now

Many can easily be even older. 50+ type older, even into their 60s. Agree with everything you said although I do hope they have success with their console.

It runs Linux though

now thats fucking retarded
only a woman executive could think of that

>$300
>for an android box.

if they put decent hardware in it, they should advertise it as such.

otherwise I can only guess this is retarded or a front for money-laundering.

So basically its a Steambox with an Atari frontend. I might be into it if they had some devs submit some new titles that were in the vein of classic arcade titles but done modern, like Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved or the new Tempest 4000. These days arcade style games are too few and far between.

ok..
apparently it's got x86/AMD processors in it.

still a bit expensive for what it is/what it can do.
