honestly, just dualboot. i've run several linux distros exclusively on computers and it's not even worth it. plus if you like games and don't want wine bugging with everything then you may as well just use windows.

At the same time, it really depends on your needs and how devoted you are to your computer. Dual-booting is just what works best for me.

Linux alone is an operating system that can be used in various applications without any GNU software whatsoever. Embedded applications come to mind as an obvious example.

The kernel, Mach/XNU, has nothing to do with BSDs. Mach itself is a very slim kernel which basically only implements message passing, virtual memory and scheduling. On top of that, you can have several "personalities" or subsystems. One of them is BSD code from FreeBSD, which implements the POSIX subsystem and system calls.

Calling OS X a BSD is like calling Windows a Linux just because it now has a Linux subsystem (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Subsystem_for_Linux).

Seconded. As a MCSE since 2000, i can say Windows 10 is shit. There is no OS without issues. The problem with Windows 10 is, that the issues are random and often not reproducible. It's a fucking nightmare.

GNU is not the kernel, it's the rest of the operating system which is why the name is important. Linux the kernel has the better name when it should be the other way around.
