Founders version are available thru msi, gigabyte, evga, and all the others

>not buying asus cards

They always release shits sooo awfully late.

Because EVGA has the best customer service in my experience, so I'll buy theres

I'm planning a white colored build, so whoever makes a white or silver card that isn't reference clocked is what I'm going with.

Asus always has the nicest aftermarket heatsink on theirs.

this, strix cards go completely passive when under low / idle load

others do it too now, iirc - but asus were the first to do it.

The cucks are people who buy specific cards instead of looking for the best price/performance ratio.

In the near future I'll be looking for a nice GTX 980 with reference cooler on it for around $200 because morons have some idea blowers don't work.

>nice
>nicest
>isis

>The cucks are people who buy specific cards instead of looking for the best price/performance ratio.

That's the correct way of looking at it.
Especially when it comes to a pricey card like the 1080 you don't want to be paying money for 3rd party "superior" coolers when blowers are known to be reliable as fuck.

If I don't see more than a 5% increase in productivity I'm getting a reference card from PNY.

Yeah I have a evga 970 that does it

>Improper use of the word cuck.

Educate yourself user

This. The real cucks buy ricer cards.

It's not that blowers don't work, it's that they don't work as well, can't cool overclocked cards and/or are noisier. For me they produce a more annoying whine than standard fan designs.

>overclocking the most powerful card on the market with an aircooler

That's the analogue of buying a Porsche and parking it under a bridge.

If you want to overclock buy a water loop. Ironically it'll probably cost you about as much as some of the more riced up gaymore cards. And needless to say it'll actually do a good job.

Though I have no idea why the hell you'd need to overclock a 1080.

That's a pretty stupid opinion. Just overclocking a card with the fan it has is always cheaper than buying the cheapest version of that card and installing water cooling on it, no matter if you buy reference or an aftermarket graphics card. Water cooling isn't cost efficient either.

If they release the 1060 for $200 for the perfomance of the 980 iim going to be happy.

I mean, Im completly fine playing 1080p at 60-100 fps

But I need the cuck- cooler for my mini itx cuckbox.

Make sure to get an Asus or a Zotac in that case.
Gotta prep those 200$ for the aftermarket aircooler bull.

>noisier
Tell that to my god awful Twin Frozr grinding fan. On both my original card and the RMA one.

Is the reference cooler really that terrible?

So bad it beats Strix in idle temps.
>memecoolers

And before you ask.
>that 200$ temperature difference

I wonder what being cucked feels like?
I'm sure Asus buyers can tell me.

What's a reference card? Is it a hardware tempate for other companies to change specs around?

Looks like I'm buying in May then.

It's because the fan turns off. The idle temperature does not matter in any way. It's meant to be high, the card is more efficient at that temperature.

Nigga, doesn't Strix has a zero fan technology shit? Meaning if the card is Idle the fans will not spin.

Cuz I got a 380 Gigabyte and the Fans starts spinning when its reaches 53 C

literally every gpu worth salt does that

Problem is it doesn't do all that good even when it's choochin tho.
You seriously want to pay 200$ on top of a 650$ card for a 5C difference?

Yeah, but that proves that the idle temperature is no argument that the reference card has better price/performance.

Hope they disable that 30% idle fan speed cap
shit really pisses me off on my 780ti's

Well I don't know where you live but here in Germany I don't pay 200$ extra. In fact, I would actually pay 200$ extra for a graphics card that is silent in idle mode, because the rest of my system is fanless. IIRC the reference cooler does not have that feature.

I would rather SLI 2 980, but still the 980ti is already top of the line. If you have the money for that shit (Like shit I got 900 for a GPU what do buy) the Strix edition seems fine. Or that MSI water cooled one

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121972

900 USAIAN PESOS!

>the rest of my system is fanless
That's just dumb

Is my pc worthless with 1080 card?

Why? I got a huge passive CPU cooler for free, my case fans turn on at a specific air temperature inside my case and fanless PSUs are nothing new. In idle it is always silent besides my graphics card.

That seller is retarded. I don't know why anyone would buy from "newegg marketplace." That same card can be bought directly from Newegg for $618.

By any chance you got the S340 case?

Also no, its decent but with the 1080 it will be more decent

That card is less than 650€ in Germany.

or galaxy for their HOF 150% OC version or something that causes housefires.

>my case fans
Then your system isn't fanless

It is until I run modern games. But I never play games, so it's basically fanless, as they are always off.

Ironically enough 650 Euros is around 750$.
That's why I buy reference. Literally no reason to pay 100$ on top for a memecooler.
You can always find the reference cards at the true price in the EU.

You being German makes the cucking joke so much funnier.

Got mine for $600.

Nah im using the corsair 750d
Bought the parts in october but just worried that its gonna go to shit, maybe wait for the 1080ti

>can't cool overclocked cards
Sure they can. Might make more noise than some people would like, but they can cool it all the same.

I've never been bothered by blower noise. When you first hear it your instincts tell you something has to be going wrong, but it's completely fine.

that cooler looks so crappy I can't believe it

I know the proper manufacturer's will have their own but still baka senpai

Not sure if that's something to be proud of though.

>that cooler looks so crappy I can't believe it
Not as bad as what Evga, MSI and Sapphire sell at a premium though.

Well I always buy non-reference for the fan-stop feature and, to be honest, color matching.

Though they might actually have implemented that feature on the new reference cards.

It's personal preference, if you already pay 600$ for a graphics card the 100$ wont make a big difference.

Keep in mind the 980, 970, and 960 are all very power efficient and don't produce a lot of heat, even when you overclock them.

I think the new Nvidia cooler looks really cool desu. Is it really that bad to buy reference rather than aftermarket cards?

It's not. It's mostly ricer cred.

Nah. Traditionally reference coolers have been absolutely trash. Maybe that has gotten a bit better over the past 2 generations but the smart buyers, not just ricers, wait for aftermarket coolers.

Only faggots would buy that ugly brick phone gpu

>tfw I might have to buy a reference card because the EU referendum might cause prices to skyrocket in the UK.

Why did the timing have to be so fucking shitty for fuck sake.

What's a reference card??

It's a vanilla version of a particular graphics card that is labelled as AMD/Nvidia and has no aftermarket modifications to the PCB or the GPU or memory clockspeeds. It's supposed to be a baseline card that showcases the performance of a new generation over the reference version of the last generation so actual comparisons can be made.

Nvidia started muddying the waters a few years ago by pushing the tech press to include heavily overclocked (likely cherrypicked) versions of their cards in new benchmarks since their chips have overclocked better than AMD's for a few years now.

Ah that makes sense. So I guess it's better to wait for aftermarket and benchmarks to see if it's actually as much of an improvement as they claim without the overclocking that they're likely doing. Even still I think 600 dollars is a pretty fair price even if it's right at Titan X levels.

Yeah it's best to wait for several benchmark reviews that you can trust. That would be a fair price if it actually comes to pass. I have a feeling once the aftermarket 1080 cards hit they will be priced similar to the high end 980ti's right now. Probably in the $700-$800 range for the Strix, G1, FTW versions etc.

>Ti versions
Gonna be a long wait.

who cares if its a reference card?
gonna be under water anyway

When are the Aio water cooler versions going to be available?

There are other elements on the cooler that isn't the blower, my friend, e.g., vapor chambers and the heatsink (and the dank decals).

I'm waiting for the aesthetics. Fuck your cooling talk.
>ricer confirmed

What, six months? Not that long.

Dude! Fuck the 1080, any news on a successor to the 750 ti? A nice low cost card with the performance of a 970 would be nice.

>mfw ausfag gonna order a 1080 aftermarket from newegg
fuck paying local prices!

this 1080 reference cooler got 67 under load
it's goat
aftermarket is shit tier

>Wait for the MSI & EVGA Ti versions to come out you fucking hicks!
will they be cheaper?

That feel.

Here in aus we have to pay over $1000 for a 1080

>MSI

.....and you you know what he said? 750 Ti! Hahaha! What a broke bitch!

Gigabyte G1 usually has the best power delivery outside of the Kingpin

>xbox

Ti? So wait a year for a card that MIGHT be coming?

Let's be honest, eurofriends.
The gtx 1070, reference or non reference will cost €400+, right?

You sound like an idiot desu

The Strix fans aren't even on. What a moran.

>So wait a year for a card that MIGHT be coming?
"Might" my ass. The 1080 is a GP104 card. There WILL be a GP100 chip, and it WILL find its way into consumer cards at some point.

Da fuck is desu, pylon?

Wait fags are the worst at least get the 1070.

Try to learn a bit about the site you are going to shill on it

I didn't say anything about waiting. I said that we can be certain there will be a 1080 Ti.

There is literally nothing wrong with reference cards in situations with poor airflow.

>shill
My name isn't tmartn or ali-a

Only cucks buy NVIDIA.

>Red
>Nvidia card
nah uninstall your life user

Their design for the 300 series is shit. They didn't even bother changing it.

xfx/sapphire are best.

That won't happen with nvidia.

>technology
lol

I bought the 970 a few days ago :(

return it

>Only cucks buy reference cards(from the manufacturer). Wait for the MSI & EVGA Ti versions(third party fucking up the design) to come out you fucking hicks!

Do you even know what a cuck is?

Did the memes trigger you, cuckboyy?
Fuck outta here

>R9 295x2 that low
What the fuck is up with that card? It keeps fucking every other card up and it's from 2012 or some shit.

but will they have the stealth technology?
