Get cucked by the jews, faggot. Support a company that deserves it, like AMD.

don't care care about VR. don't care about 4k.

not wasting money on it.

>Tweak drivers, release practically the same card again

>not waiting for HBM2 cards

neck yourself

HBM2 isn't worth waiting for

good work pajeet

0.35 deposited to your nvidia account

If I'm this guy, should I buy the 980 instead?
BTW, Sup Forums what drugs are you taking right now? What are you sipping on?

I have a 970 but will it be worth it to upgrade?

As far as I can tell, this is shaping up to be a card for those who have not upgraded in 4+ years. The new Doom averaging around 120-140fps does not give me hope.

I bought a 1440p 144hz monitor and figured I would put it to good use once the 1080 dropped but it might be worth waiting.

>faling for the memory jew
you fuckers never learn

What's the TDP on that shit anyway? Also AMD will have a conference about Polaris this week. Waiting for that before anything. Nvidia still can't into Async compute too. I reckon the smaller die will provide cooler running units with cheaper/better performance.

Couldn't wait needed a GPU went with a Gigabyte 380x 4GB

Why do they call it the GTX 1080?

Because when you see it, you'll do 3 turns and then walk away.

...

Get a 980ti if you want to get a 980. Going for pretty cheap on hardwareswap

Is it worth it flow chart:

Is your current frame rate satisfactory?

>Yes
It's not worth it

>No
It's worth it

Dragging sunk costs into it is irrelevant.

>nvidia do an apple style presentation with bullshit graphs
>jensen jobs in his iconic leather jacket
>wow, just wow. 2.5x performance boost over 980 in VR I'll never use
>how do they do it
>980 owners already throwing there money away for a 20FPS boost

Bravo, nvidia marketing department. You work here is done.

...

My 680 is workbook just fine, thank you

>Don't care about 4k
not caring about 4k means not caring about performance. Buy a 750ti

you mean a soft launch with availability in winter?

What will you do with those, play your kid games? Don't you know video games rot your brain?

Do you think my rig could handle a 1080/1070?

actually I think it is to capitalize on the known high resolution of 1080p

it fosters a sort of mental association

>Buying new next gen GPU
>first born driver
>first born hardware
>first born tech that still tested by devs
>All cards are sold out on release so the price will be gone up because of it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ITS LIKE YOU RETARDS LEARNED NOTHING FROM FERMI.

Get a fucking job

AMD will deserve my money when they release a product that's worth buying.

Probably if you overclock that ram to 2133mhz.

>lets wait for the next thing, it'll be better guys!
>never buys anything

You mean like 390?
How its feel that 970 will be obsolete once 1070 come out unlike the 390?

But then it doesn't push for the notion of 4K resolutions.

...

?

???

You mean the 290, which is the 390, which is the 490?

How's it feel buying the same card three years in a row.
>kek

>fell for SLI meme

Remember all those guys that said pascal won't be ready until the end of the year? Or the morons that said pascal is fake because the interposer couldn't be reprogrammed to run on gddr5x? Or the ones that claim the demos on stage were Maxwell chips in fucking Feb 2016?

Sup Forumsents, 1070 or 1080 for WQHD (1440p)?

The Division and Paragon are peaking out at about 40-45 fps on higher settings (not even ultra) on my 970.

Gtx980 Ti price drop when?

980 ti already 60fps ultra 99.99% of the games at 1440p. A 1070 will be even more powerful than that.

>faling

>Two of those already beat Nvidia in current card with current tech.
>One of them is a fucking 4 years old card.
>New Nvidia card are using focusing in the new tech on software level
>Literally killing their current gen card
>AMD still strong because they got it on hardware level

One card going strong in 4 years with upgraded version for new users.

How its feel need to upgrade your cards in every years Nvidiot?

But user, if you are facing it and do three turns, you'll still be facing it after turning 1080 degrees. Does this means it's really that good?

but will I have to buy a new one a year from now? Or hopefully last at least 2 years?

Never. Your best hope is to buy a 980 ti RIGHT NOW from a guy looking to panic sell.

1070 is Allegedly a smidge faster than the Titan X (RIP Maxwell's value), and it'll only be $379, so, I'd go with the 1070, and maybe upgrade to the 1080 in a year or two, as the next GPU Family by Nvidia won't (likely) be such a leap.

>980 ti already 60fps ultra 99.99% of the games at 1440p. A 1070 will be even more powerful than that.

In DX11 games.

980ti will obsolete soon because 10xx will became the new standard.

Probably never since retards still haven't realized 1080 is less than a month away and merchants have low stock.

>New Architecture
>Die Shrink
>New memory type
1/10 made me reply

> 2 years?

Doubt it, HBM2 is in 2017.

Oh yeah definitely you'll have to get a new one within a week because it'll burn your house down you memeing faggot

-Advanced Micro Devices™ 2016

Yeah, I was honestly expecting that. They've not bothered to drop them in the slightest in the past 2 or 3 months.

I aint buying used hardware though, especially gfx cards. I dont know what these manchildren out there have done to them.

So I guess if it's going to only last that long either way, I should just go with the cheaper option lol

by that logic you could justify a 4k vr rig

Most people treat their graphics card like trophies. When in doubt just ask for a pic of their rig. If it's nicely sleeved and looks nice you're good to go.

>"Advanced" Micro Devices.

It's simple.

Buy used 980 ti on Ebay.

Issue dispute because item not as described.

Ship back a box of rocks that weigh the same.

Get refund and enjoy your free 980 ti!

>doesn't get it

:^)

What's your point?

?

>New memory type
Only for the 1080, the 1070 still uses regular old GDDR5.

Still, what worries me slightly is that both the 1080 and 1070, like the 970 and 980, only have a 256 bit wide memory bus.

>using the smiley with a carat nose

I once had a 4850 and I was perfectly happy with. But AMD have not showed anything yet and I'm tired to wait. I'm gonna replace my GTX670 with a brand new GTX1070 if nothing happen in 2-3 months max.

>shilling this hard for 4 year old hardware
>ancient in the tech world

ok gramps, feel free to stagnate in the shit pile.

So if the price drop happen, should I go with 970 or 390?

Ill agree with you on that one. Why does nvidia have such a hard-on for small memory buses? Heres hoping to hbm2 1080 ti

$200 gtx 1060 with 980 performance. Once overclocked it'll reach 980 ti pref.

you can only have so much bandwidth without soldering RAM on the die, and the distance/heat limitations still exist, but seriously with a 16 NM manufacturing they could've just added HBM, even with a lower bandwidth (2048, or so).

>>ancient in the tech world
>Its so ancient the Nvidia new cards lineup finally use it after 5 years of ignoring it.
>not even on hardware level.

Spot the Sup Forumstard.

what said, that's kind of the logical path of progression that NVIDIA would take.

>$200 gtx 1060 with 980 performance

Is this meant the other two cards will only cost me $100?

Holy shit. which cards Sup Forums?

Wait for the 1060. It will beat Polaris 10 card for $100 less

>amd retard attempts to convince an entire thread gcn is just as good as pascal

Is this guy for fucking real

Then why does amd usually have twice as big memory buses? Not shilling, i have a 980

???????????

yeah, supposed used or refurbished with a warranty from some seller on amazon wouldnt be a bad idea.

>buying old, depreciated, and gimped cards
kek
Wait for the 1060, brah
980-level of performance for $200

Source: My Ass

>GTX 1050 (970-low 980 Perf)
>950 Ti (Maybe 960+ perf)

Wait for the amd fire sale

I wasn't talking about this gen.
But if you want me to follow your logic then 9xx is even shittier than both AMD current gen and the upcoming Pascal.

same.

So, I guess, I shouldnt buy 960 anymore?

I wait with PC upgrade since last two years, PC itself is 5-6 years old, with once changed GPU, from GTX 460 to 660. I originally planned to buy new one mid July, but with those new cards, I guess I have to wait yet another year or what?

>yfw it's actually a rebranded 980

with the Fury series? Who knows, i'm saying due to heat limitations the bandwidth might have to be toned down a bit, but in all, what's 256 to 2048?.

>You mean the 290, which is the 390, which is the 490?
Are you retarded or did you miss the last few months? Polaris is a new architecture and a major die shrink.

Wait for the 1060
It will be the best price-to-performance card on the market. Polaris 10 will be in the $250+ range, but the 1060 is guaranteed to be in the $200 range. Plus, Polaris 10 can't even beat a 390X, but a 1060 will match or beat a 980, which is faster and better than a 390X.

Wait 1~2 months and it'll be released. All the reject 1080 becomes 1070 and reject 1070 becomes 1060 etc

>reject 1070 becomes 1060
*1060 Ti
Stay hyped

490 is 390+tessellation+node shrink

It's a 100% rebrand

>Maybe, maybe

Where the hell you guys got all these information from?
I don't want to wait on fud.
Next you retards will said to wait for AMD too to see if the price is right.

>Asnyc and DX12 meme

So my 970 will be obsolete now?

Not even, amd does 512 bit on the 390x and even 390. And 256 to 2048 would be a massive jump

not obsolete, but if you dont resale before July/August, worthless.

Mankind unanimously agreed on Friday that AMD is finished and bankrupt.

Such is my luck - pushing upgrade further and further, because of new parts waiting to be released/reduced in price. I was close to even say "fuck it" and considering buying 1070, which would be my very first -70 card so far.

I guess I have to get even more aptience and keep waiting, like usual.

Well, Sup Forums, it's almost time for me to upgrade my rig. Do you think it'll be worth getting something from the 1000 series, or would it be best to hold off for the 2000 series? I'm usually not one to do the "just wait" game, but since it's the first line with the new architecture, I'd like some thoughts.

Sell it on ebay for $150 and buy a 1070 when it launches
Your card is worthless

>worthless

Jesus fuck, is really that bad?

I just got this card last year.

4096 Bus would've been the limitation, yes AMD has the 512, but Nvidia could've opted with HBM easily and slapped AMD even harder, unless AMD licenses it.
