What should I expect?

I'm retarded. switch that.

Expect to grow a massive neckbeard overnight

C/C++ Programming in a UNIX enviorment

ieee standards that don't really apply to windows or linux programming and barely affect your future

I've never programmed using C or even used Linux

How fucked am I

neither has the majority of Sup Forums.
And Linux isn't Unix.

It's really easy to learn C.
Using The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Richie, and the FreeBSD handbook, I learnt both C and Unix.
C took less than a week. Unix takes longer. I'm still learning.

i refuse to believe this

WTF are the prereqs? Are you learning C and Unix at the same time? or does this class assume you know C and are now going to learn the Unix system calls using C?

Pre reqs are data structures and algorithms using Java

You're supposed to learn c before or during. C++ is taught way before. Unix is new too.

Eh, then you'll be fine. I'm guessing you're only going to learn C with Unix tools like gcc/gdb and make.

GNU's Not Unix

could be cc/dbx if he's on solaris.

You may find yourself stuck in a loop for a while.

Yes, but what is GNU
