It's not Outlook 2016

-doesn't integrate into my Qt desktop very well
-doesn't let me choose a custom browser for opening links

Calendar support is weaker compared to Outlook, and if you're muh enterprise than obviously exchange support, but otherwise Outlook is pretty based.

:^)

Hey Sam,

I find your comment very accurate (and funny!) but in my honest opinion Outlook by Microsoft Corporation is an overall better product.

Lori

OP asked for flaws, not advantages.

Can't connect to Echange Server out of the box, only with ExQuilla plugin. That plugin cannot save "sent" mails. I know my Exchange setup is half-assed, but Outlook can save those mails, and Thunderbird can't.

I hate outlook's PST files. Ever tried moving your mailbox to another machine? Horrible (at least in outlook 2010).

> What is IMAP

Fucks up ALL THE FONTS

PST files are pretty fucking broken, it's fucking horrible. They randomly go corrupt, sometimes fixable, sometimes not.

Unless you disable caching and go entirely at the mercy of server side/connection performance for all operations most of your shit will end up in an OST file which is essentially the same thing.

3 days ago i wrote this to my terminal
du . | sort -nr | head -n10
because even though i did not installed that much packages there were too much space that i was using. So first 10 programs were thunderbird and wine. after uninstalling thunderbird i've gained nearly 10gbyte! there you go it's a fucking hdd/ssd waster.

i did not install*
fuck my english

It's in SuperTuxKart, but it's not even playable character.

The three column Outlook layout is superior to Thunderbird's layout.

Muttator is a piece of shit compared to Mutt.

There's also a three columns mode in Thunderbird.

Takes up more disk space than my browser which was already installed, hence I just use a web interface.

>open it up
>check your cock.li mailbox
>suddelny inbox is empty
>thunderbird decided to delete everything because there was nothing on server because german cops took the hard drive
how great

Didn't this shit die a year ago?

Used once, didn't like it, switched to Outlook and never looked back.

The three column layout in Thunderbird is flawed since the thread pane (From, Subject & Date) is oriented horizontally so you have to widen the thread pane so far that the message pane is heavily marginalized. Look at the Windows 10 Mail's mail list and see how the content of the thread pane is optimized so that you have much more space for the message pane.

This optimization comes at the cost of not being able to change the sort order as easily as you would under Thunderbird, though.
Also, I used to delete the star, read and junk columns, in order to be a tad more space efficient.
But really, Thunderbird and Outlook are both shit when compared to Mutt.

Apple Mail has the column-based layout too.

It's not Opera Mail

Outlook 2010 user here
whats so good about 2016? Anything new?

The Bird has no Legs.

Now it has no Eyes!

2013 is a bit prettier and 2016 is essentially the same as 2016.

Office365 is great from a licensing perspective but letting orgs control the updates was a mistake. I just had to reinstall mine and block updates from the registry because my org is pushing the March 2016 update and it totally fucks up my outlook with freezing.

They're behind the envelope

How is it carrying the envelope?

Menus are shit

You can have the right sidebar as vertical half of the middle sidebar. I use this layout and it's the best layout.

What's the deal with these email programs? I just use webmail.

ez fix

it's perfect

Well, it's ugly, slow, eat a lot of ram, etc... And don't always work fine for me

A week ago I discovered Nylas N1 : an open source nice mail client, I suggest you all to give it a try.
>inb4 "js interface is a meme"
The only problem with N1 is that it works in the cloud and doesn't support pgp yet, but you can make your own server.

It doesn't have 64 bit support on all OSes yet.

Otherwise, I like it. I use it as my usenet client. I don't use it as my email client since I use gmail.

What is a good alternative for Thunderbird?

Thunderbird.

cannot unsee

Nylas N1

No DCC support for the built-in IRC client.

That's nitpicking though, fucking 10 all around

No exchange support out of the box.

It's not. They're falling together.

Post more Miyako

dumps GB of unneed cachedata in AppData folder on windows. like 10 to 20gb max.

opera mail is superior.

>Find a flaw
I can't.

>dumps GB of unneed cachedata in AppData folder on windows. like 10 to 20gb max.
I would say this is more a windows problem than a Thunderbird one.

There are right and wrong places to cache in Linux, but only wrong places in windows

theming is shit

I use it, but it doesn't support email threads very well. I think they go by subject line instead of reply headers. Might just be my mailing list though.

Is there any desktop version of outlook that doesn't involve purchasing office 365? It doesn't seem like there's any other decent email client out there.

not on android

logo is not flat

>It doesn't seem like there's any other decent email client out there
Opera Mail

Your saved passwords are being displayed in text by merely clicking "show password"
If Microsoft did that in Outlook they would get sued to oblivion.
But "muh free software" makes issues, bugs and shit like that all justified. Freetards shill for free afterall.
