>OS X:

No
But Windows 10 is free and it can literally do anything OS X can.
How is it not free?
Except run any POSIX compliant piece of software.
I like OS X but Xcode is shit. Even Java-based IDEs are faster and more responsive.
You can't run OS X as you wish.
You can't study the source code and then change it so OS X does what you wish.
You can't redistribute exact copies of OS X when you wish.
You can't distribute copies or modified versions of OS X when you wish.
wow os x is free?
please show me an official apple website where I can download it for free
free as define by the Free Software Foundation and Stallman-dono
>all these freetards getting triggered by a perfectly valid use of the word "free"
Xcode honestly sucks so much more than any other option, even visual studio.
You HAVE to buy Mac.
>xcode godly
What shitty god do you worship pajeet? Xcode is trash
>free
Can't legally modify and redistribute it
Costs money
Do explain
It's free to download user. You don't pay a cent. Not since 10.9 (maybe 10.8)
itunes.apple.com
That link should work. They don't put download on their site, except for QuickTime and iTunes. Other worst wars is in the App Store.
>frustrating and stressful
>proprietary drivers
>ACPI nope
I'm an atheists but Xcode just works greatly if your code isn't a clusterfuck.
Everything that he said:And in order to legally obtain OSX you are REQUIRED to buy Applel hardware
>That link should work
Only if you own a mac, and since i dont, i cannot obtain it from apple to install on my hardware, so in effect, it's not free, its only free to owners of apple hardware.
You can't look like a edgy hacker on windows/OSX,
this is why it's better to use GNU/linux/xorg/i3/urxvt/"1545 packages"
when you talk about "that" OS don't forget to list EVERY package you use or else you'll trigger some retards
>can only obtain if you own apple hardware, hardware that you have to pay for, that includes the OS
So, its not free
You can do all of those things. Nobody is forcing you to use the non-free components of OS X.
You have to buy a computer to run an operating system, wow big surprise.
Yes you can. I installed El Capitan on a VM. Just torrent it. The only way to get Windows 10 until they sell it, is to buy a 2016 laptop, (buy a MacBook) or have a Windows computer to download it. (have an OS X install to download)
A rough analogy, but mobileposting, amirite :^)
>OSX
>FREE
>Just torrent it
Resorting to piracy does not make it free, and Windows 7 to windows 8 to windows 8.1 also includes a upgrade for free (if you want too) to windows 10
I cannot download it straight from applel
i cannot freely obtain it unless i own apple hardware
Your logic is flawed
>The only way to get Windows 10 until they sell it, is to buy a 2016 laptop
Also, not true.
>newegg.com
free != libre
you can't even have a OS without owning a hardware to install it on
retard
False, i can buy a copy of windows 7 and never use it, but i would still have it.
ITT: both ends of the autism spectrum
my god
>OS X

"To download OS X El Capitan from the Mac App Store, you need a Mac with OS X 10.6.6 or later."
OS X 10.6.6 free update for all users running OS X Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard prices for $19.99 at Apple Store. [apple.com
Windows 10 is free too then.
>i can no longer make valid arguments, time to resort to name calling!
ive not made any arguments. i am just laughing at everyone moaning about free vs not free vs libre. saying xcode is godly (lol wtf have they even used it for more than hello world?).
No. If you don't install it you don't know that you have it since the disc may be broken.
You would still have a license to use it (and by that meaning, own it), and most likely able to obtain a free replacement DVD.
But this is pointless if all we are going to do is play the hypothetical scenario game
>Time to backpedal and claim i did it for the lulz because i just realized i got BTFO: The post
>having a license to use it means you're owning it
someone hasn't the read the agreement and just hit next
ok mate. so how free is OS X then?
Why would you want to do all those things? OSX just works.
>>free office (iWork)
>>xcode
>not using emacs with org-mode
>so how free is OS X then?
it isnt ...
>someone hasn't the read the agreement and just hit next
That's beyond the point of the original purpose of this thread.
the only valid meaning of the word "free" when applied to objects is free of cost.
saying an object is "free as in freedom" makes absolutely no sense, it's just twisting words and make a religious sect out of this confusion.
Objects don't have will or freedom. People have it, in various degrees.
dictionary.com
>11. provided without, or not subject to, a charge or payment
>36. without cost, payment, or charge
only 5% has the meaning that you applied to it
the other 95% is about personal freedom, liberty, "political autonomy", or will. Software don't have any of that, they are just objects. People have those.
Xcode breaks after every new line of code i put in. Jesus christ I hate this stupid shit and their stupid fucking languages.
> To download OS X El Capitan from the Mac App Store, you need a Mac with OS X 10.6.6
gnu.org
>Free software means that the software's **users** have freedom.
>We developed the GNU operating system so that **users** can have freedom in their computing.
>Specifically, free software means **users** have the four essential freedoms.
People have freedoms. And that is what GNU advocates.

normal people don't give a **** about the last 3 freedoms.
>OS X:
>KEK
Mac has all the major games, autistic shit like Paradox spreadsheet simulators excluded
it's not piracy if you have a legitimately obtained key
stop sperging when people say "software A is free" then, if you admit that saying "software A has freedom" makes no sense.
Software isnt an object
Its information
Hence why its protected under copyright and not patents
Now you can own an object containing that information
But I haven't :)
Ok, so where's GTA V? Fag
>Giving a shit about Xcode or Java IDEs
>Not using Nativescript + Angular 2 in 2016--year of the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
How do I install OSX on windows?
That's not OS X, though. Go ahead and compile a fully free OS X and enjoy that 30 year-old kernel.
I would stay away from many companies. Apparently the government of the usa, i mean the one in totality since nowadays we're ran according to administration due to genocide lawsuits. And theyll just say which one? But the nsa basically has been tackling down linux based operating systems. In support of microsoft, apple, ge etc. ive heard stories that they infiltrate education of everyone in the know. And get them electroshock. Using proxy bosses, teachers and professors. However they are all entangled by business corporations in virginia and maryland. Then they relocate the companies and rename them. Apparently these tech giants have been hiring nsa and fbi agents domestically and cia agents abroad as contractors for these tech giants that pay them, murder for hire. the most famous operation was operation pink elephant. In which they with xe set up a false op flag in the middle of washington d.c.
>OS X is free
>gets proven beyond wrong
>"but normies"
I love your backtracking.
OSX shipd with a precompiled git that is shown to have a remote code execution vulnerability that you can't even update with root.
Say what again?
Windows is made to be installed on any computer I own, OS X isn't. I don't have to buy a new computer to run an official version of OS X. that's why your "of course you need a computer" fallacy doesn't work.
Many of the big us contractors in turn have been sued for heroin trafficking out of muslim countries. Same ones who were being contracted. So their nation decides once again to lie to their constituents and has again damaged the brains of its people. While russia conducts special imaging in the us once again.
Microsoft grand wizardry.
Nigger have you even use iWork lately? It is way comfier and better nowadays. Only downside I can see is Numbers being terribad against Excel, but other than that it's miles ahead of MS Office.
Not on a pc with a 100mhz cpu and 200mb of ram. checkmate #NotOP xd
Apple only supports downloading it from and installing it on Apple computers, not sure what your point is. Windows can be downloaded from anything and installed on a tablet.
Windows

Learning curve
>Windows can be downloaded from anything and installed on a tablet.
Ever tried to copy your Windows installed on one PC to another? Or maybe copy Office from one PC to another?
You can make a bootable copy of an installed OSX (with or without applications). Or simply copy application programs, including Office, to another Mac.
I took a copy of OSX 10.5 from an Intel Mac to an external hard drive and then booted my PPC (G5) Mac from it. No changes required.
Are you trying to trigger everyone?
You can not install os x on any computer as you can do with windows
Any computer != any apple's computer
it also looks like shit and only works on crappy computers.
> Xcode = godly
>buy a box with macos in it
>you can now download macos from app store
>therefore mac os is free
>buy a box with ea game in it
>you can now download game from origin
>therefore ea game is free
And ea is selling overpriced plastic boxes but their software is free!
wtf is wrong with you, keynotes and pages are 1000% faster and more intuitive to use than word and powerpoint. Perhaps they don't have the upper 10% complex functions that office gives you, but I mostly just type texts in pages and keynote presentations are faster prepared than powerpoint. The only lag is numbers, which sucks extremely against excel. Also, excel has become standard in the professional job environment, so knowing how to work with it is essential, hence a switch to numbers isn't recommended.
How come Microsoft hasn't faced another antitrust suit for packaging a shitty operating system with their spreadsheet software?
Even for an attention seeking bait, quality is very low, Xcode is quite inferior compared to Visual Studio.
OSX isn't free, it's bundled with a Mac, if it was free, as in price. You'd be able to download or acquire it legally for free without needing to buy a Mac.
>OS X:
>> free
Take the cost of your mac
Take the cost of an identical, non-mac computer
Take difference, noting it is 25-50%
This is the price of OSX. It varies based on how reamed you get by the apple tax, but very rarely falls below $500
>not realizing being locked into windows is making you the cuck exhibitionist
Have fun with your goyim :^)
I've done this, the thing is when you copy it Windows will attempt to use the drivers from the computer it was copied from and if it's not identical it will crash, all you have to do is start it up in safe mode so it won't load the drivers from the old computer and recognize that the drivers has changed and load the drivers for the new computer.
>proprietary drivers
Those are found in pretty much every device with an OS these days.
Baby duck syndrome. There's also a learning curve for Windows and OS X
