The new Nvidia GPU runs hotter than the 2 previous generations

>gtx 1080 hotter than Thermi SLI

IT'S OVER, NVIDIA IS FINISHED, AMD WILL REIGN SUPREME, FUCK INTEL 2T9WITSITSITSOYSITSUTSITZKGZUYSYOZYIX9YD

ITT: Poorfags air cooling

Unfortunately they won't take the real crown from Fermi, at least not soon
There's no single gpu card out there that pulls more energy than the GTX 480

Reference Version?

Of course its going to be hot

So what?

>muh Nvidia promised 67

No, they didn't, retard. They showed a game running at 1080p/60 and -that- was 67 c. To expect the same for 4k is stupidity.

Hotter than 2 reference 570s pressed against each other?

yea lets ignore that 290x at the top about to melt

>muh efficiency
>muh temps

Oh, nvidias new GPU runs hot? Who cares?

OH THE HIPOCRISY

>thinking previous gens matter

I bet you've already forgotten the northern island vs fermi, conveniently, since you bring it up

but the 1080 is cooler than the 980ti

I'm an AMDpoor but I'm tempted to splurge on a $539 980 ti right now. Is that a bad decision? I have a 380 and 1080p/144Hz monitor.

1070 is slightly better for cheaper

wait for the 1070, chances are it will be cheaper and faster than the 980ti, 90% sure it will be not but who knows

reference coolers have always been dog shit

I can't wait for the twin frozr coolers

That card has now reached the end of its usable life. Purchasing is not recommended.

>twin frozr
>not strix

Direct heatpipe contact, man.

I know you're trolling but the gimpening of the 780ti would have me concerned if I were a 980ti owner. I may scour the secondary market for an air fury or 390x. I feel like I could pick one of those up for cheap.

>trolling
Not really, he's got a point.

1070 will definitely pull ahead as nvidia stops optimising games for the older architecture in an attempt to force users to upgrade.

Not quite gimping, but also not optimising as they should be. That's the main advantage of AMD still using gcn. Anything that benefits the fury x will also benefit a 7970.

>inb4 it's only one game

Anything nvidia touches turns into cancer

>tfw you're running crossfire 7970s

Uh, the temp target on this card is set to 82ºC.

Do you people even know how reference cards work?

>tfw HD5770 crossfire

Got them for 40 dollars and it runs gta v and bf4 at 60fps1080p.

you mean founders edition?

Hell I'm just running a single 7970 and the highest Ive seen it go is 55C.

>82

Holy shit, who cares?
that is a perfectly acceptable temp load.

You mean foundry edition?

You can run a game at 4k at 2GHz under 70 degrees so long as you set the fan to 100%
This is just the stock fan speeds e.g. "Muh quiet PC is more important than muh temps."

Pic related (Orange Line).

>They showed a game running at 1080p/60 and -that- was 67 c. To expect the same for 4k is stupidity.
The load in that game was more than what any current game does at 4K
Though you're right, they never promised those temps and the clock, they just said it was possible, though they did misled as they always do

>getting a video card with the reference cooler

570 isnt true fermi, it was the much cooler successor. try the 4xx series.

570 is rebdged 480.

They always do this within the same arch. Just like 770 was rebdged 680.

1080 will be rebadged as 1170, Just you wait and see.

>Buying reference cards
It's like you want to start a housefire

youtube.com/watch?v=wlSeHCPd75s&feature=youtu.be
This guy installed a Accelero Xtreme IV on his 1080 and runs that shit at 2GHz never passing above 55C

Wait for some non-reference cards to hit the market first to really see how shitty Nvidia's cooler is

dual 7950s masterrace

You sound like an idiot.

BASED FURY X

>1080 will be rebadged as 1170, Just you wait and see
Seems like Nvidia is moving away from rebranding

900 series was a new architecture, 10 series is a newish architecture (even though it's basically a Maxwell die shrink) and 11 series will most likely be Volta which will be new architecture

So what you're saying is buy the cheapest card possible and then install an AAXIV on it?

>100% fan
WHAT? MAH'S QUICK PEAS ARE MORE INK PORTED THAN MARS' TECHS?

>At 41.6 dB(A), Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080 does fairly well, especially if we compare it to lower-cost GeForce GTX 980 designs from board partners. This is also 2 dB(A) lower than the reference GeForce GTX 980.

>During the torture test, noise rises to 46.8 dB(A). This is actually a nice result, seeing that it’s 3.2 dB(A) lower than the GeForce GTX 980.

>The 1080's acoustic profile is really pleasant. It’s a nice broad whooshing/airflow noise, and the fan’s motor can never really be picked out. This is a lot better than the cheap axial fans that AMD used to put on its reference designs (and that some partners still use). In comparison, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080’s noise is tolerable.

the 1080 tops fans out at 60% when using the fan curve
the graph used an override to get it to run at 100%

I doubt that's 100% you fuck

>The load in that game was more than what any current game does at 4K

What? No. Doom is not that demanding. People are playing it in 1080p/60fps on a 960.

what the fuck the 390x is cooler than the 290x

>3rd party cooler vs stock

>falling for sneaky misleading marketing.

It's the fucking reference card

>200 Degree Video Card
WEW

Wat

That picture is outdated due to the latest hotfix driver from AMD.

The coolers on the 300 rebrand are 2.5 slots.

he was obviously mocking the user he quoted you tqard

Then just buy the GTX 1080 EVGA Hybrid.

Y tho

To be cool and stable.

I'd rather buy AMD because they won't have this problem.

i'm only seeing 82
pic related

>570 sli - 81 degrees
>single 1080 - 82 degrees

Feel bad for anyone who's going to sli the 1080 to be honest.

i get ya

>Reference Cooler
Nope ill wait for the tri fan aftermarket cards.

Dont care if they are $1000 im getting one im SICK of shitty outdated cards and retarded ass AMD shit

Are there even tri fan aftermarket coolers on Nvidia? Ones that don't suck, that is.

You're not getting a 1080, anyway, not for the first 6 months. It will be sold out everywhere, Nvidia doesn't have enough supply to meet the market's demand. They can't possibly have enough chips for such a large die, and with the amount of marketing they put on this whole thing.

>Are there even tri fan aftermarket coolers on Nvidia? Ones that don't suck, that is.
had one on my 770 4gb it was amazing metal shroud and everything ran extremely cool.

ye i was thinking the same (i've a amd hd5870 1gb atm ) but i did think what about the heat in the case

(the zotac looks the dogs bollXXXX)

Basically if your running air your always going to have heat issues.

i am VERY tempted to go for water cooling on my next system as heat was always a big issue.

ye i kow what you mean, i have an aio cooler for my 5960x and it's almost silent (in comparison to the graphics card) sadly the aio won't allow extra's to be fitted without voiding the warranty

i'm in no hurry to get a 1080, but i would like a new card some time, hopefully it won't be a huge let-down (i'e crappy drivers)

Still waiting for Vulkan D44M benchmark.
Where the fuck is it? Don't tell me that Nvidia gonna hold it back till 1080 shipping date.
