Internet speed thread

speedtest.net

This may seem like total shit and even though I pay $80 a month for it this is 100 times better than how I got on the internet before.

Where the hell do you live? Just so I know never to live there.

im pretty certain this is Australia, am i right OP?

Not Australia

American midwest, in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.

Lived with dial up most of my life and then free library internet.

Maybe in the next few decades I'll be able to stream a movie in HD.

ezpz

When will this meme die?

Yes, Australia is a huge country that is apresely populated. Yes, if you live in the middle of nowhere you understandably get shit speeds. Most people live in cities though, enjoying minimum speeds of 10 Mbps at worst.

Pic related, my speed

>Faster than 98% of AU

I would consider Sudoku if I had under 50Mbps upload desu.

OP here, I'm very a patient person. Still suicidal, but pretty damn patient.

The internet costs $40/month, but we're in some TV and phone bundle as well so I don't know if that brings the cost down. They're upgrading the infrastructure and speeds here soon though.

I need my anime in HD and as fast as possible.

You haven't lived until you can download an entire season of anime in bluray quality in under 10 minutes.

>faster than 98% of aus
Nice try Telstra shill

My old as shit netgear adapter is rated for 300kbps, but I've seen it pull a little over 400 from my neighbors DSL over the past five years.

Free is free.

I envy you. It took me more than 24 hours to download a movie in 480p last week...

That's upsetting, I downloaded 400GB of anime and movies yesterday. Took like 7-8 hours total.

What's your top DL speed. Hardware. And what are you paying for it

I downloaded a 7GB game a few days ago. It took a little over 12 hours.

7 GB game takes me about 10 - 15 minutes

I have seen 20.2MB/s or ~161.5mb/s But generally tops out at 18-19MB/s

Hardware is pic related and $65/month for the speed.

op, i know how you feel
i live in rural kansas, and holy shit i want to move to kansas city

I pay $35 / month for these speeds. I'm do not envy any of you

>Telstra

Are you retarded? The pic says TPG

How did I do?

What's up with the massive disparity between down and up?

Cable?

...

Yup.

speedtest.net/result/5339656127.png

You people need better upload speeds.

very few residential internet plans are symmetric
most people use download bandwidth much more than upload, unless hosting servers
most ISPs discourage hosting servers on residential plans.

I upload at least 1-2TB per month on my 150mbps upload, my ISP doesnt give a shit.

$70 a month.
I desperately wish to escape this hell, but I find some comfort in the fact that a few others have it worse than me.

>ISP's are greedy Jews
Basically your up speed is a meme (never rarely more than 1 Mib/S) unless you give them a lot more shekels

Don't ever have Vodafone as an ISP. They are fucking garbage at sorting out Fibre installation. We were meant to have ours in back at the end of March...

11:1 ratio seems a lot though

Mine is 2.5:1, 100 down 40 up

or you have fiber

$65/month

Looks mine is highspeed

I have Vodafone and they are the best. No one will ever install fibre where I live.

25 €/month

I'm assuming that's Vodafone Ireland? Yodafone NZ is a fucking joke. Most towns and cities are dealing with laying fibre in the ground and you really have to do it sooner than "I'd like to sign up for your new fibre plan", cause they'll fuck about. Got to the CEO on Vodafone NZ, and they said we'd become top priority. Still fucking nothing.

Vodafone Germany
I got 50 GB LTE for free when my internet was broke
Also decent routers, no setup fee and 10 € less than shitty Telecom
I wish I had DSL16, I've been on VDSL50 on my old location

>50GB LTE

In NZ, that's a undreamable amount of bandwidth via LTE. Mobile Internet costs here are fucking bullshit. Flat rates are $16 a GB.

You won't get such a bandwith without a contract here either, but Vodafone gives free LTE when your DSL doesn't work
Otherwise the best deal here is Alditalk, 5 GB / 15 € 21.6 Mbit max

Step it up guys

That's a fucking wet dream here to go to LTE when your internet fails. Solid idea, but the LTE infrastructure (let alone mobile coverage), is fucking garbage.

There are poor souls still paying ass loads for satelite. Ok speeds via satellite. But nonetheless, it's still satellite.

>American midwest, in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.
No cable option? That's astoundingly shitty. Even for the midwest.

>not using fast.com

It only gives the DL speed and is only respective for watching stuff like Netflix and download. You need to know the ping and UL for how consistently you can get packets out to the webserver to access the website.

Eh at least we don't have data caps and it costs the equivalent of $20 USD

>>not using fast.com
>wanting to see your upload bandwidth and ping instead of just download

...

I work at a VoIP provider and the kind of speeds people have around there are shocking. I've spoken to customers who end up cancelling because they're getting ass speeds like 3/.5 and can't support shit, and they are paying a hundred bucks for this "business" class internet

Symmetry coming

>cumshit
>timeout warner
>century(toconnect)link
>shitnet

Why are american ISP such trash

>hurr durr what about vodafone nz?

4/4 shit ISPs.

>Why are american ISP such trash
They're all monopolies because back in the 60s and 70s towns signed deals to get cable providers to move in.

Is Cox bad?

All cable providers are shit. You're literally choosing the best of the worst.

this is on my wireless N connection.

i will never know what it is, wired. bcuz i will never have my PC in the same room as my modem.

I pay anywhere between 70-90$ if i'm late i get a 20$ fee.

Nice cawk

>faster than 98% of aus
>faster than 90% of nz

Gotta go fast!
Guess it helps that I live in the data-center capital of the east coast.

I live in Mexico, here this is a good speed for the price. I pay around $30 USD.

xD

...

in victoria australia, 1,000 gig usage allowance per month, 90something dollars per month

>spark
at least get on bigpipe or 2degrees user

0.20 down / 0.10 up.

Average ping of 1,000 - 5,000.

I just want the ride to end.

MyRepublic or Voyager. Pick your poison.

>shit slow poo-in-loo ISP
>business ISP
'no'

kek

Voyager does cheap residential...

And MyRepublic just cause they give better uploads for the same price.

it's not that fast

Voyager (not 24 month plan) is the same price as BigPipe, except BigPipe is contract-less and doesn't have a fair use policy. Seeing that it just started offering residential services, it may just face congestion issues in the future like what happened to MyRepublic.

MyRepublic also has very unreliable speeds.
You get what you pay for.

>woo yeah giga bros

>ping 32 ms

BigPipe actually does actually quite delicious. If they offer what they say.

Shame I don't live in Dunedin.

1000/500 @ $99 in Dunedin.
200/200 @ $129 in anywhere else with UFB
Currently 6/1 @ $75 with Vodafone.

They are fucking about with the UFB install and we still don't have it.

youtube.com/watch?v=iVcT362oIqU

That's what I've got.

I pay like 8 dollars for this speeds. Also:

>faster than 91% of Ro
Something is very wrong here.

If you keep pestering comcast about how shit they are, they'll give you decent internet for cheap.

Should you have to do that?

Recently got fibre installed and this is my speed for $100 a month with slingshot.

Can't you get that for like $75?

I pay 20 europoors for that and I still think its too much.

How do I lower my ping? get a better router?

I would pay 50 euros for that connection, so you get it for a cheap price.
Where do you live?

>speedtesting to the nearest server
kys lads

Funland

Mikä sun operaattori on?

They're okay as long as you NEVER have to deal with support.

DNA talokaapeli

speedtest.net/result/5340069529.png

speedtest.net/result/5340071450.png

I pay for 75/75 but always seem to get more.

And I plan on upgrading to the 150/150 plan next month.

I've noticed this. I personally prefer symmetric plans because when I do need to upload something I hate it taking long.

Ite maksan DNA 100/10 kaapelista 20e

I'm not sure i only looked at a few providers and they all seemed around the same price, so i just decided to stick with slingshot since i've been with them for 4 years and didn't want to deal with changing providers.

yo my cashburn nigga, where u at?

Gotta love still being on a Verizon grandfathered unlimited data plan.

This, plus mobile hotspot, unlimited text and 700 minutes costs $65/month.

>Megacable
>he fell for the meme

I have got basically the same speed OP, but I'm living in yuropoor.

not so bad since i live in a complete countryside shithole and it costs 9 EUR/month, 4G maxes out at about 30mbit/s in this shithole, but it costs like 20 EUR/month

...
