You now are head of a division of DARPA to make a robot that runs on linux.
Which distro do you use and why?

i make my own because a robot doesn't need a crack team of fucking retarded hobbyists to say that it needs gnome with a different theme by default or that programs x and y can't be brought up to date because they need a new version of a library and program z depends on the older version
Replicate Mechazawa's OS
Why do something from scratch if you can use code that's widely tested and available, Honda engineers use Ubuntu to program asimo, clearly you are not the sharpest tool in the shed
Steam OS
some distro with linux-rt kernel
probably gentoo, not kidding
Arch or Gentoo of course
any other answer is retarded
Except Steam OS
what a soothing voice he has!
>linux-rt kernel
>sys-kernel/rt-sources
lel
Can you get it with hardened patches too?
Steam OS is the obvious answer
Why would I build a robot on top of Linux? That's retarded.
Anyway, if I really wanted a robot that isn't able to do real-time computation, I would go with ucLinux
Just use debian or centos with a custom scheduler
Is cromartie the best, or is it the best?
You better have the manga on your kindle, user
Is thia even a question?
Whatever you use, you will be making the drivers for this new, untested hardware.
Unless, you are not using new hardware and relying in commercially available hardware, which doesn't mean is widely used but at least industrially available.
For the programmers on Sup Forums, you should try writing a driver sometime. Not that difficult.
Windows 10 with DirectX12 for best results.
>why would i build a robot ontop of linux?
That's literally what every non-hobbyist robot is built on.
>ROS
TempleOS
Either Alpine Linux or TinyCore
Any good resources showing the basics of writing driver sw?
Ofc
You all are idiots. Why the fuck would you need a distro for linux.
DEUS VULT !
Arch
TempleOS
NetBSD ;^)
Boston dynamics uses QNX. Linux is soft-realtime, it isn't suitable for some sensitive control tasks.
Android, get it? Becus robots.
