>for a 59hz
user, that's just a windows issue, 59.98hz is reported as 59hz not 60hz in windows.

It's still an effective 60hz.

regardless the screen looks awful and I'd rather a new one I don't about hz so long as there 60

If you have an AMD card that supports Freesync get that Nixeus 1080P 144 hz monitor it's really nice for the cost.

Gaming is a degenerate hobby and egregious under utilization of a computers potential. Learn a programming language and get a job

using intel but thanks

eat shit

>In Windows 7 and newer versions of Windows, when a user selects 60Hz, the OS stores a value of 59.94Hz. However, 59Hz is shown in the Screen refresh rate in Control Panel, even though the user selected 60Hz.

>This behavior is by design for monitors and TVs that report only 59.94Hz but not 60Hz. Both 59Hz and 60Hz are translated to 59.94Hz before these values are sent to the driver. Therefore, the display is identical at 59Hz and 60Hz.

Changing monitor likely wont change anything if it's a new monitor

However you can go ahead and buy a nice dell ultrasharp IPS panel if you want good color accuracy, it will still say 59hz though.

VG248QE, my guy.

>inb4

>falling for asus quality control meme

kys, don't trust asus for anything besides motherboards.

Their quality control can be an issue, but they RMA like no ones buisness so it's usually not a problem, just keep RMA'ing until you get a good one. That's what I did with my monitors. Bought 2, one showed up DOA. RMA'd it and got a working one.

Had them for 2-3 months now.

go for benq my two brand new asus monitors came with dead/stuck pixels right out of the box.

yaeh i heard Intel makes the best gpus

Anyone using a 27" 4K monitor?
considering getting one

I've used one, but I dont own one (and wouldn't buy one). 28" is FAR too small for 4k, the GUI scaling is basically required to read ANYTHING legibly, but plenty of programs totally ignore GUI scaling in windows so you're shit out of luck.

You want at least 36-40" for 4k.

OK move onto the next thread now, I hear theyre missing your redundant and repetitive input.

I forgot to mention that the screen I have is also LCD as that another reason why it looks like shit?

>you cant do both

No considering 90% of monitors on the market are LCD and that's what professionals are using (though they generally aren't cheap fucks like you and buy nice dell ultrasharps or NEC displays)

If you want color accuracy get a fucking $5,000 OLED, or a good IPS LCD.

Thanks but aren't the most used programs scaled properly? Is it decent when using scaling?

Yeah, I use one as my main monitor. The sharpness and image quality is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't plan on keeping it, I bought it with the express purpose of trying out 4K for myself and sending it back, but the quality was just too good compared to a "normal" DPI monitor to give up, so I kept it.

Ehh I'm so used to LED screens I might just drop the money for it

Hows this?

amazon.com/Samsung-S24E310HL-23-6-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00TR0570W?ie=UTF8&keywords=LED samsung monitor&qid=1463760981&ref_=sr_1_4&refinements=p_72:2661618011&sr=8-4

Lol fucking garbage, no wonder you keep getting shit screens, you need to double or triple your budget if you want a color accurate display.

Most basic things like internet and shit are fine, but if you use any sort of professional software that doesn't get updates very often, you're usually shit out of luck.

It's going to depend what you do on the computer, but for me I could never use 4k on anything smaller than a 36", and i'd prefer 40". 40" 4k is 110 PPI, at 36" it's 122 PPI, at 27" it's 165 PPI.

A "normal" 27" 2560x1440p for reference is 108 PPI. So 40" 4k at 110 PPI will be almost identical to a 1440p 27".

ASUS PB279Q or something I can't remember the name of it because I'm not autistic but it's brilliant. compared to my 120 dollar 1080 ips LG monitor it is league's better but also 500 dollars more

The Dell Ultrasharp series has been one of the best for a long time now

I've had them at work for like 3 years so far, and got one at home as well (24 inch)

Well I think they're really good. Another friend of mine has had the 31 inch one for over 3 years and is also really happy with it

LED is actually LCD under a fancy marketing term. Acquire some knowledge before you buy shit and complain about it.

le geeee hivemind xDD dont forget to use gentoo loonix XDDDD winblows is for babies

I prefer the thin screen size but okay faggot.

I'm still not convinced you're not trolling, hell the first 5 responses already gave you your answer, buy a fucking IPS Ultrasharp dell and quit bitching.

if you're looking for 144hz this looks pretty good might fall for the meme myself

amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-Bbid-24-Inch-Display/dp/B00KO4518I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463764412&sr=8-1&keywords=acer 144hz

Do you want high refresh rate, color accuracy, or high resolution? Prioritize those.

all three

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236677

Then you're spending $1000+ for one of the new Asus 144hz IPS.

>Within 3 minutes of the time you turn on your CG248-4K monitor the display will be warmed up and ready to use.

wow, only 3 minute turn on time. Not bad.

Can confirm. U2414h is a great monitor.

amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/freesync#5

Whats the best 1080p/60hz out there with the best color?

U2417H, it's a $350 1080p monitor though.

What's the minimum acceptable response time for a gaming monitor? 5?

anything under 8-10 is fine unless you're a pro gaymen.

Get a CRT and stop wasting your money

I actually have a 19" 45lbs CRT in my basement in great condition. 1600x1200 with 96Hz maximum refresh rate.

Then you won't find something better.
Wait for OLED

do people genuinely think they'll notice the difference between 6 and 8 for example?

just about all decent ones are in the 6-10 range, it makes no real difference

just get something with good reviews, that hopefully also has a decent track record for making monitors

...like the dell ultrasharp series

getting lost in shit like "oh but this one has 6 ms response time while this one has 8 woaaa" will only waste time (and most likely money)

Any good value 16:10 screens about? Don't care about 4k or anything about 60Hz

16:10 tend to be expensive these days, but the U2415(non H model) is 16:10 and is a very nice monitor

Eizo EV2450
Dell U2414H
Dell U2415
Dell P2414H
ASUS PB238Q

I use a HP ZR2440w. Its 1920x1200, 24 inch IPS monitor. I like it, but the default color settings are a bit warm, so I had to do some calibrating. Just a warning. Also, 16:10 monitors have a premium that honestly, isn't really worth it unless you really want the extra space.

VG248QE
XL2411Z if you don't want pwm.

Omg you're an actual tard

If an ips panel is from a reputable brand such as viewsonic or acer does it automatically mean itll look good ? I was thinking about a 24" ips 1080p monitor from aoc. The i2367Fh.

>buying a monitor without freesync or gsync these days

It's a fucking monitor, look up reviews, if it has good reviews and its a well known brand, buy it. Don't go for the cheapest piece of shit you can, because you'll spend 10+ hours a day looking at it for years, spend more of your NEET bux

>144 hz monitor
>computer is too shit to put it to good use

>the current year
>seriously considering buying a 1920x1080 monitor for any reason

>muh PPI
1440p and above is a meme at typical monitor sizes. I have 20/20 vision and the 96 ppi or so that I get from my 24" 1080p monitor looks fine.

i bought a standard ultrawide.

i don't think i need the sync tech or the over 60 hz. it's not like i ever have a badass enough pc to play all the new games at max. i mean, i would try it, but not for 2x the cost, or for a similar price 16:9 with those features. once something gets glowing "GAMR" led logos all over it, i get worried about its actual usefulness.

I never said anything about PPI. Of course you don't get a 24" 1440p, that would be silly.
>typical monitor size
>24"
It is no longer [current year minus 5]. 27" 1440p is the new 24" 1080p. 30" 1600p is the new 24" 1200p.

THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MY FUCKING CAT

PROVE ME WRONG

Your cat has it's head on it's bottom whereas teh other one has it's head on top.

What do I win?

Proper rotation

something with g-sync/freesync depending on your gpu brand

You never said anything about monitor size either. Not everyone wants a fucking 27" screen on their desk. As to your >current year appeal, the latest Steam survey shows the vast majority of users are at or under 1080p, and you can just about guarantee that those numbers include more enthusiasts than your average soccer mom/dad or grandma checking emails and printing word documents once a week.

The bottom line is 1080p monitors are more than enough for the majority of people and that includes people on Sup Forums.

Meanwhile, in the past:
