Contrary to my greentext I myself use Avisynth as a video editor. MELT had to many prerequisites to get running on Windows so I just fell asleep halfway through instructions.

What's it like going at a snails' pace?

DaVinci Resolve as professional editor and Camtasia Studio as a simple one.

I can use Premiere, but I've had absolute shit luck with pirating Adobe products unless it's been repacked into a portable version. I'm still using Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 instead of CC because of this.
