Why do you still use Firefox?

because chrome is shit
seriously, fucking GOOGLE services work better in Firefox than they do in Chrome
Screenshare in Hangouts? lol, forget about doing that in Chrome. Nada. No way. Doesn't work. Had to open up Firefox for that shit to work.

I don't. I use Iridium. It is the most responsive, stable, uses chrome extensions, 64bit, sandboxed tabs with the option to sandbox by domain, and takes advantage of multithreading. With my debloated Win7 install I can browse a few tabs and only use 1GB of memory.

Only a fucking SJW numale cuck would use Firefox with their beyond shit development philosophy, x86 platform, bloat, and pro-gay/tranny/nigger agenda.

Only a retard would use botnet/IE.

Palemoon and other FF forks are memes.

Iridium is the natural choice for anyone with a brain.

because chrome does things in about 5 different processes per window, and internet explorer is too slow.

Because Webkit is objectively bad.

Firefox supports full colour emoji font and side tabs. Also its fully open source.

It and SeaMonkey are the only good browsers that still receive updates.

Iridium is yet another chromium reskin.

Because it still is the most customisable browser on the market. It's also very secure and good at handling privacy (if you disable telemetry). It's open source, meaning there is more support for it. It's not made by Google, a NSA surveillance engine.

They're all shit, firefox is just the least shit.

Nah firefox isn't shit. There are tons of good firefox forks out there which disable the telemtry and all of the added bad features by default. in terms of speed, yeah firefox isn't blazingly fast, but isn't the slowest either. Try using opera, it's horrendous in terms of speed.

You know that if it didn't run in different processes, everytime a webpage's JS crashes, the whole browser dies. Like this, if only the specific tab will crash. Observe: crashchrome.com

addons

post more of this cunt

The other option is using Chrome-like browsers, that will contribute to a Google monopoly. And Chromium is not botnet free.

other browsers have no features and/or are botnet

You wouldn't need a different process for this

So is Chronium

Because I'm a SJW.

I don't like all the autoupdate crap background services Chrome installs.

winrar

I use mouse gestures for everything and Chrome have limitations compared to Firefox

also I don't like all the background shit Chrome does

Because it's finally feeling snappy again thanks to e10s.

That and it's creepy how Google pushes you to always stay signed in to their entire ecosystem/botnet when using Chrome.

TreeStyleTabs is only available on Firefox. No other browser allows add-ons to customize the user interface that much.

I started using it in 2009 and I am never, ever going back to horizontal tabs. Can you imagine how streamlined and efficient my porn browsing is?

why not?

wat

luakit or vimprobable2 are my hipster browsers, then i play all videos with mpv

Firefox was always a fad. It was never actually good. Never, not once.

Remember all those articles about security vulnerabilities in Firefox every few weeks? Remember how Internet Explorer managed to consistently be a safer browser in terms of security vulnerabilities month after month?

Remember how Firefox was designed to be a lightweight alternative to the Mozilla suite, but then became so fat and bloated and using more memory than every other browser that they resorted to using gimmicks in handling memory to make it look like it was using less ram?

Remember how they tried to put Firefox on mobile devices and how it was so badly optimized that it ran bad and ate peoples' battery life? Remember how they tried to turn Firefox into an OS and it was an even worse disaster?

Remember how Firefox made millions of dollars of revenue from partnerships and through Google, and how they used it to pay their execs and in-house "feature" programmers, while all the actual talented smart people contributing code to the browser got shit?

Fuck Mozilla, fuck Firefox, and fuck people who still promote its use.

It's still the best option out there.

not much is available for i686 arch linux...

That's like saying Donald Trump is the best option for president just because he's not Hillary.

In this case, there are a lot of alternatives. Chromium and Opera are the only browsers people should be wasting their time with anymore.

9to5google.com/2015/06/22/chrome-ok-google-hotwording-extension-privacy-concerns-confusion/

Chromium is a botnet and Opera is a rape victim pregnant with the rapist's child.

Blink-based browsers lack customizability, features and extensions. I will not decrease what little percentage of my privacy and security I still have control over just because they load slightly faster.

The only major issue with Firefox is that it renders the occasional webpage incorrectly, thanks to the moronic Chrome monopoly.

So what are the alternatives ? What should we use?

There are quite few reasons for why I don't use Chrome:
- no control whatsover over tab behaviour (an addon like tab mix plus is impossible on chrome)
- no control over the theme or window chrome
- no control over mouse gestures
- no way to disable functions I don't want like in about:config
- worse addons with poor quality control
- integrated with all the google botnets
- has become slower over its lifetime
- disables addons it doesn't like (windows only)

It's an okay browser for your average normalfag but I'm a power user and like to mess around in the options to get the most out of my software. Firefox is the best browser for this.

Because I like it.

I use Pale Moon. No memes intended.

Try vivaldi it supports all of those functions, added mouse gesture remapping just last week

Thanks but I'm very happy with Firefox.

My only issue with the fox is their SJW bullshit. The actual browser is fine.

>not using tabkit2 or tab tree
These nigs get it
It's Saturday, no need to shill so hard m8

maki is a slut

MODS!

I use opera(tM)

I dont

honestly? because these last 2 super cheap (~$250ish) toshiba satellite craptops i use as home "internet terminals" have had fucked up problems where the trackpad/mouse just starts randomly fucking up and not working. the first one required me to go to the device manager and delete the mouse, reboot, and then the thing would work fine (provided i didnt do the 2nd reboot it asked me to do right after booting up)

this 2nd laptop had the same fucked up issues, but then that device manager > delete > reboot trick didn't work so i started to isolate what programs i was using when the trackpad went to shit and by and large chrome/browser was the #1 thing i was using when it'd go to shit. i switched over to firefox and then low and behold the trackpad fucked up WAY less often than it did with chrome, and then over time that whole screwy trackpad thing just completely fucked off.

nowadays this computer has a propensity to enter what i call "psycho mode" where out of nowhere something changes (unbeknownst to me) and then typing in letters = instead of letters popping up some kind of CTRL/ALT + [letter] macro pops up.... and if i'm browsing a webpage instead of page-up/page-down moving the webpage up/down it will switch between browser tabs. clicking on a link = opens every link in a new tab/window. and then if you have stuff you need to save b4 you reboot-to-fix-this you better hope you cleared out all the old files that are named up-to-untitled.ext, cuz since you cant type in any letters / #s you can only save files as untitled.ext or say, untitle.ext, untit.ext, etc.

yeah it's fucking mental. and it's totally TLDR and >not my blog. but yeah, basically i use firefox because my computer was a ticking time bomb that would cease having a functional trackpad/mouse in anywhere from 5mins-5hrs until i switched from chrome to firefox and it basically went away.

Chromium user here..

Because it's the best browser available.

I used it before version 1.0. I'm stuck in my ways. I hated the UI of chrome but Firefox started to copy it. I got used to it. Still don't want to use Chrome.

I use Firefox on Android too. It gives the comfiest Sup Forums experience with good webm support.

I'm pretty much a Google fanboy but fuck their browser. Fuck everything else too.

Nope, finally left for Inox. Feels good man.

>Remember how Internet Explorer managed to consistently be a safer browser in terms of security vulnerabilities month after month?

with internet explorer you know that only OFFICIAL/IMPORTANT/PROPER people are exploiting you for all of your data/info/etc. i sleep easy knowing that only the powers that be are able to access all my shit (the way god intended it)

I ask myself this every day.

Reasons for using Firefox:
* not botnet
* nice addons
* tree-style tabs
* comfy
* doesn't look like shit on Linux
* i like the font rendering better

Reasons for not using Firefox:
* it's slow
* crashes all the time on my Windows work laptop
* crashes on my desktop because gtk is a buggy mess

When it does work, it's not bad though. Will hopefully get better with whatever their multi-process thing is.

E10s should arrive soon, what will you do?

If someone wanted to target you IE would be the most likely target though. Whenever you hear of a targeted attack it was usually a fucking IE 0day.

Waterfox user here, for about a year. No problems so far.

oh yeah i don't use internet explorer, i was just trying to make a dumb joke about how with all microsoft products i assume that "the powers that be" can have their way with me + my shit

Why would I want to use tabkit2 or tab tree over tree style tabs?

Because fuck Chrome and Opera gave me some trouble

Yeah I was just saying that sketchy actors like the Chinese or the Best Koreans are most likely to rape you through IE. Those guys are pros though.

also i technically use IE only so i can easily pop into a ftp site and use it as a windows-explorer-folder, and just coming across them loading up msn.com / toshiba.com on me = i hate how iexplore forces me to basically let those pages load up (especially MSN) and i can't tell you how many times i've typed in my ftp://user:[email protected] and hit enter, only to have iexplore literally go NO! and replace my URL entry with the msn.com URL and continue loading up that page.

i also love when it chunks up and sometimes outright freezes while you try to cancel loading or outright kill the MSN tab. basically you walk away from it thinking "wow, microsoft really REALLY wants me to use their fucking site, eh?"

All this talk of IE, Firefox, and exploits reminds me of some shit that happened to me in 2002 or 2003. I went to a page in Firefox that managed to open IE and do a drive by install of shitware. I was impressed at the ingenuity and super pissed at the same time. Reformatted.

wasn't it not too long ago that iexplore was basically eminently-exploitable through ActiveX? i remember microsoft pushing that shit on you and if you didnt go and do your best to disable it the vanilla iexplore / OEM setups were basically easy to have some malicious ActiveX script come along and do whatever it wanted to do with your computer.... but hey when you gotta force a new standard you gotta force a new standard and only idiots get victimized, right?

besides, if ppl's shit got compromised/deleted microsoft could just sell them on some cloud/backup, right? and thus the slow march back to the days of dummy terminals continues with benign-sounding terms like "the cloud"

That was in the bad old days, like what I was just talking about in The IE side of things used activex to fuck me.

NoScript and few other addons, tabs,UI etc. I just prefer it over other browers. I'm keeping an eye on Vivaldi but so far it's a bit slow.

Disable it.

yeah i was always weary of iexplore because it was so obviously pushed at me that i just didnt want to use something that ppl had such a vested interest in forcing on me.

besides, iexplore = the continuation of mosaic, and good ol netscape = the continuation of mozilla, or mosaic godzilla. gotta stick with the kaiju on this one, outside of the whole "iexplore is slow and clunky and always wants to freeze and looks like shit and is the most easily exploitable browser out there because it's basically made for idiots and the exploiters know this and target it accordingly" thing

I don't.

You gotta try chanu for that comfy android Sup Forums browsing

Yeah back in those days I used to go on all kinds of sketchy sites for cracks and warez. People don't know how easy they got it with the torrent sites these days. Whatever I couldn't find on XDCC I would go to google for. I would just keep using the same sites I used before, that people recommended me and I trusted, like cracks.am. Most of the time I didn't have issues. But there were those times when you ended up on something truly horrible. Either something that would own you or something that would pop up horrifying porn that was difficult to close, and when you did get it closed it would just keep spawning new windows.

I didn't trust in antivirus, I didn't want that shit filling up my 128mb of ram. I put my trust in Firefox not to get me owned though.

>tfw alone in this

So. What is the draw of Waterfox?

To be honest I'd be happy with just Firefox without the Mozilla botnet shit.

>no linux version

Wait seriously? Why would they do that?

>Firefox still doesn't have flash support
fucking when

Then use Chromium, it doesn't have that.

Unblur this immediately.

>implying anyone wants that

What the hell is "Flash" support? You install the Flash plug in and restart, and it werks.

>2016
>flash
You what?

GNU IceCat, or as ive recently been taken to calling it, GNU plus IceCat.

Stopped using Firefox as soon as they got mad and started to speed copy Chrome UI.

Happy now with Vivaldi and Brave browser. Not looking back one single moment.

What is the best Chromium windows build?

I tried woolyss one but for some reason it made my anti virus to absolutely bat shit for some reason.

Because nothing else can be riced like Firefox.

>daily "firefox is shit" thread
Somebody seems desperate

Does it have Windows binaries?

>want IceCat but it doesn't have a windows version
>want Waterfox but it doesn't have a Linux version

It's hard dual booting sometimes.

>Chromium-based browser
>"De-bloated" botnetOS
>"Only a retard would use botnet/IE"
Iridium is retarded and so are you.

>angry they are turning the browser into chrome
>start using chrome with a new skin and firefox with micro-transactions instead

Maybe you should start thinking about looking back.

Mostly because it is unique in its customization capabilities and satisfies my privacy concerns.

I pity the fools who use Chrome, because they don't know any better.

>I stopped using Firefox when they started copying Chrome
>Now I use a Chrome-based browser
???

But see here chromium sucks balls so

pretty sure it does

then you should know as power user that Mozilla will kill their advanced add-on technology and adopt the limited Chrome variant.

Sure, they add a handful of API to make the most important add-ons work with the Chrome extension system, but a big part of the unique flavor is going to die.

After Webexensions with some special Mozilla only API hit, their almost Chrome transformation is almost done. Only the switch to Servo, which will be an almost Blink carbon copy is missing.

At that point, Mozilla's long way to the Google side of the force is done.

Enjoy your Google ideas dominated Mozilla Firefox after that point.

Brave and Vivaldi are unlike Chrome, they have unique features.

Chrome is fucking stupid, but that Chromium variants are not.

I can do this on Vivaldi while actually using a modern browser

Brave will get advanced theming, tab stacking, page tiling and many other customization features, also a Tree Style tab variant is talked about.

They have recently added an almost full implementation of No-Script to Brave too.

Ask in their Github section, these guys are also not full Chromium, they only use the Chromium rendering part and build the rest of the browser on their own, including most API too.

So, no extension support out of the box, but it is coming.

>tfw Vivaldi and Brave could have been the answers we were looking for
>instead one of them is closed source and the other is based around selling ads

Especially sad about Brave seeing as it could have been Eich returning Firefox to it's glory, they even have people like Yan Zhu on board but what do they do? Turn it into some ad selling experiment.

Why can I barely run 480p videos on Firefox whereas on Edge I can run 1080p 60fps with no dropped frames?

Which you can turn off or remove. Brave is Open Source.

They are working on a fair ads model, something which should be supported.

>They are working on a fair ads model, something which should be supported.
So did adblock plus
look how well that worked.
