I just ordered a 144hz monitor. Are they worth it or just a meme?

If you don't play vidya regularly they're def not worth it.

dump frog posters

this post belongs in:

how about no

good job frog

Youre one of them speak first think later guys

Congratulations
Now you'll never be able to go back to 60Hz.
Are you getting a 1080 to complement that?

the eye cant see beyond 24 fps, and the response time of an average person is 120ms

you literally are wasting money

If you're not good at fps games then you wasted your money. I know sponsored players in many games that only play with 60hz and still play at the top level. 144hz doesn't make you better, it's just more comfortable.

Ins from Quake used a ball mouse for years before zowie sent him a free mouse. He still doesn't use a mousepad and has the cheapest goddamn set up in the world and he plays at the top level of Quake.

To be honest if you play fps (read: counter strike) and are decent at the game, it will improve your performance.

I only have a i5 4670k and GTX 770

>the eye cant see beyond 24 fps

It's so fucking smooth you won't believe it user. But I'm thinking about replacing it because the color accuracy and viewing angles are shit tier. And the darkness levels are also pretty disgusting. It's going to take time to get used to thought

>go to Costco
>120hz 4k 50" TVs are like $500-$600 dollars
>60hz 1440p monitors still cost half of that or more despite being a fraction of the size and probably having cheaper built in speakers
Why the fuck is it taking so long for monitor prices to come down? I mean fuck, you can get 1440p phones for not much more than the cost of 1440p monitors. Is it because the demand for 1080p monitors is still relatively high?

Takes getting used to if you came from consoles, kind of gives me motion sickness it's so smooth

24fps is the lowest frequency we can see frames without seeing transition or studder. faggot.

It's a meme if it doesn't have adaptive sync

Why even get 1080p the human brain cant process more than 360p anyways

I thought ~18fps was when the human brain starts interpreting it as motion and not a slideshow, and 24fps was just the standard chosen during the early days of film?

my favourite meme :^)

Just a meme.

Flicker isn't an issue when it comes to LCD tech. So that only leaves framerates, and 60 fps is quite good enough. Resolution is more important.

This to stone degree I've seen people and personally had gotten at fps games with a 144hz you will be able to hit more shots but it won't matter if you're shit. Use it to your advantage and git gud.

up to you i enjoyed 100hz back in the day but it wasnt worth the premium to make the jump to 144hz

>Why the fuck is it taking so long for monitor prices to come down?
Idiots paying top dollar for 'gaming' shit

if you play 1080p yes, dont expect 144fps at 2k or 4k anytime soon. unless you play old shit

You literally paid for a placebo effect.

Just pray it actually works.

you sound jealous

>using the smiley with a carat nose

I owned a 144 Hz monitor for a year or so.

They're good but after going back to 60 Hz I really don't think they're worth it. I play fine with 60 Hz. 144 obviously looks a thousand times better, but it's not like it actually improves your gameplay or anything.

A combo of smaller panels being more expensive to produce and retards that keep buying them at this price keeping the price up.

But 1440p at ~23" or bigger still doesn't approach the pixel densities than mobile devices have had for years now. It can't cost *that* much. I blame the demand for 1080p monitors still being high keeping the prices of anything better high as well.

144hz owner here, 75hz is literally enough and gets you decent IPS panel as well for a reasonable price

144hz is just pure luxury and you're only benefiting from low fidelity games and SVP

I just recently got a asus mg279q for 340€. i'd never have spend 600€ for this shit

one thing for sure, you can't go to 60hz desktop after it
too smooth

>mg279q for 340€
how?

from mindfactory online retail. i saw one for 330€ a week later on amazon warehouse deal though

did you get lucky with panel? mine is ideal - no bleed, how is yours?
I just don't get why the heck would they sell it for so low. Without defects it is a solid screen.

no dead pixels, just minor lightbleed spots on all sides which are typical for ips in my experience but they are not visible unless the screen is completely black

don't forget to switch desktop to 144hz

i wouldn't really tell anyone on Sup Forums about that, so they can find out after 2 years and see what opportunity they have missed and how dumb they must feel about it

i also extended the freesync range from 57 to 144hz

Yeah, this fucked with me for a Day.

I got a 144Hz monitor for mainly Cs Go (Not for the competitive bullwhip... Ze all the way baby). It's really hard to determine the worthiness (It literally cost twice as a basic Ips) but I'm happy with it
