Infiniband has lower latency than pcie and is the primary interconnect used today. You're thinking of batch processing (i.e. render farms). The top 500 are dedicated to things like weather modeling.

i doubt infiniband is lower latency than PCI-E, but it is true i was thinking of the ethernet family and forgot the more special stuff like that...
